Thursday June 30, 2005

It has been very hot here but thankfully the humidity is low so it's not too bad as long as you are in the shade and have some breeze. Last night it was still 90 degrees at 10pm! We only got to 97 yesterday but the weather forecasts are still saying we will hit 100 before the weeks out. They say we have a slight chance for rain either Friday evening or Saturday. Please pray...we already have a burn ban in our country because its so dry.

I will be going to Missouri to visit family a week from Saturday. I am really beginning to get excited. I'll remind everyone closer to time that I'm gone. I'm not sure how much access I will have to the internet or the time. My mother, Vanessa and I will be driving. It's about an 11 hr trip. So we will kill 2 days out of seven driving but at least we have a car when we get there! The airport is an hour away from where we are traveling so I didn't want to mess with having someone to pick us up and take us back plus the hassle of the airport on either end! I'd rather see the country side anyway.

Well, all for now. Have a great day and stay cool!

Wednesday June 29, 2005

I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday. Once again our internet service provider was down! This is getting really annoying. Had I known I would have tried to post from my work computer yesterday. Anyway, I guess I'll not continue my "Valerie Story". There doesn't seem to be much interest. That's okay, if anyone wants to know something about me just ask.

Ya'll will get a big laugh out of this....I got pulled over this morning! One of the ladies from our church who is in my cell group doesn't have a car so she generally needs a way to get to doctors appointments and such. She asked me to pick her up this morning for an eye appointment on my way to work. I had just picked her up and was headed to the appointment when a policeman (no it wasn't my daughter's boyfriend) pulled me over. I had just made a left turn after stopping at a stop sign. I have a tendency to make a "rolling stop" instead of coming to a complete stop. I figured that's why he pulled me over but he actually stopped me for not signaling a left turn! I had to laugh (to myself of course). He gave me a warning and I was on my way. You can bet I'm using my signal every time I turn now even if it's just in the parking lot!. My husband is on duty today too and he probably heard my plate run! I'm sure he'll give me a hard time later!

I don't know about your part of the country but we are beginning to scorch down here. It's bumping up to 100 degrees now on a regular basis. It's actually forecast to be 100 today. And we've had very little rain. We are already behind for the year about 9 inches of rain. Things are starting to turn brown. We have a burn ban in our county that was issued yesterday. Not good news with the 4th of July holiday coming up. I've wanted to go ride my horse but I can only do that in the evening until the weekend and right now I've had something every evening this week. I'm thinking I may go ride Saturday morning.

Monday June 27, 2005

I gave my friend her scrap book yesterday. She nearly cried. She probably would have except I came to see her at the restaurant so there were people there even though it was the slow part of the day. I definitely got the response I was looking for! I still have the scrap book so I can try to complete it while she is on vacation.

Will not try to continue my "Valerie Story" until we can get service at home again.

Hopefully I will be able to post more later.

Tuesday June 21, 2005

I had a (as Tony the Tiger would say) GRrrreat day! The great part was when I went riding. I went about 7pm as it was cooler. On the ride I saw an armadillo, and my most favorite thing....a deer! I was just in awe! It was so awesome to see and I know that my heavenly Father provided that moment in time just for me because He knows how much I enjoy watching deer! Then to top things off I got to see the most beautiful sunset! God is so good! I really sensed His nearness during my ride! It was way cool!

Well I told one of my Xanga buddies I would tell a little history about me tonight so here goes.

I was born to Warren and Nancy Stephens. We lived in a rural farming community called Cowgill, Missouri population 232. The nearest hospital was 30 miles away. When my parents first married they lived in an old farm house that had 4 rooms and a path! (yep, no bathroom, just an outhouse!) When it was time for me to be born, my dad was in the field as he was a farmer by trade. It was about 4am and mother was flipping the yard light to get my dad's attention! Not long after I was born we moved to a larger farm house that was two story. That's where we lived until we moved to Texas (more on why that happened in another post). I was the only child until I was six when my brother "John Wayne" (no we didn't name him after the movie star - John runs in the family) was born. We call him "Wayne".

As long as I can remember I have loved horses. My parents bought me one of those spring horses when I
was about 18months old. Mom said I never got off it. Many times I would fall asleep on it.

I'm not sure how old I was when I got my first model "Breyer" horse . I still have it less 4 legs! I was a little rough on it. When I started school the teacher was worried about me because at recess I would get down on my hands and knees and pretend I was a horse! When we would take trips in the car I would look out the window and pretend that I was riding a horse running alongside the car. I would also count how many horses I actually saw as we were driving. We had some neighbors about a mile up the road who had some horses and they are the ones who taught me how to ride (on a shetland pony). I have concluded that if you can ride a shetland pony you can ride anything! The little pony scrapped my leg going around a tree, took me under the clothes line and anything else it could think of but I would stay on!

I got my first horse when I was nine. (I'm 12 in this picture. I spent the summer mowing lawns to raise the money and bought "Billy" a black and white paint Welch pony.

Well, I have lots more to tell but I'll save that for another post.

I'll close for tonight. If you want to know more about me tune in tomorrow for "chapter 2".

Sunday June 19, 2005

Twice in one day! I am sooo glad comments are back! I really missed my Xanga Buddies! I don't think the system is completely up though because I tried to look at some previous posts from other days and it told me that comments were unavailable. I was trying to find a post my mother left. I emailed her my page and she's been checking it out and has discovered I "share more" on my Xanga site than when we talk! I dunno sometimes I start typing and it's like I forget anyone is reading what I say. I guess I'm basically journaling so to speak.

I several errands to run today and decided to ride my bike (kill to birds with one stone - get my exercise and my errands done) . I had some pics I had taken during Rodeo week of one of the "Princess Contestants".  She was working at the little cafe in the sale barn which is 2.5 miles from our house. From there I rode my bike to CVS to buy some birthday cards and scan some pictures for gifts. CVS didn't have the frames I wanted so I peddle on over to Walmart then made my way home. My odometer on my bike said I rode 9 miles! I didn't get to ride my bike yesterday so I guess I made up for it.

After I was home I did a few loads of laundry. Helped Doyle from time to time with the trailer then it was time to go to work at Drive Safe. After work Doyle wanted to work on some more wiring so yeah, I helped him again. This trailer is going to be like brand new. What a labor of love! Here is a "before pic of the trailer so all of you can really appreciate what he's done to it. It looks wonderful! We hope to get the wiring and floor put in it tomorrow. See what a sacrifice he is making for me? Finishing the trailer on his day (Father's Day) I owe him BIG TIME!

It's way past my bed time so goodnight to all!

Sunday June 19, 2005

Happy Father's Day by the way. I talked to my dad and sent him an e-card. I fixed Doyle his other favorite meal: steak, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, ranch sytle beans and hot rolls!Yum Yum!! We gave him his cards. One from Vanessa, one from me and one from the dog (Mercy)! Ugh, I've become one of those people I used to talk about!. Vanessa thought it was too funny to get a Father's Day card to Doyle from Mercy. She even went to the trouble of stamping her paw print on it! We all had a big laugh.

After lunch, Doyle went to work on the wiring for the trailer and sent me and Keannon (Vanessa's
boyfriend to Weatherford after lumber for the trailer floor) We get back and Doyle is still working on wiring. I assist by giving moral support mostly. Keannon had new members class at church at 6 so he had to leave. When class was over he cut the lumber we got to the right lengths and he helped Doyle put the floor in. All that's left now is to put the floor mats in, put on a couple of tires and put all the stuff back in it. Ugh! Good opportunity to cull some stuff!

I'm planning to go riding Tuesday evening. I can hardly wait. I can't believe I've gone this long! I just didn't feel right not helping Doyle so put my feelings aside.

Enough tonight. I'm really tired. Didn't get my usual "Sunday afternoon nap" TTYL

Saturday June 18, 2005

After work, some friends of mine from the church took another lady from our church to lunch for her birthday this week.

Then I went home, regrouped and took off for the grocery store and Wal-Mart. Do ya'll do the same thing? We don't have a supercenter Wal-Mart yet (we will by August!) so have to do my shopping in two trips. I used to go to the neighboring city Weatherford (18 miles away) but the traffic has gotten so bad over there with all the growth that I quit. It was much easier to shop at home even if the prices were a little higher.

I got home just in time to put up most of the groceries and yep, go to work again. UGH! I like what I do but sometimes it is very inconvenient. Then I had one of the slowest nights of working at DriveSafe that I've had since I started in September last year. I had maybe two phone calls, one contract come in to enter in the computer and one test to grade! Don't worry I did have something to do. But I like it when it's busy.

I got home about 10:30pm and Doyle asked me if I was up to helping him with wiring the horse trailer! So you guessed it we were pulling wires. It was much more bearable at night than during the day. We've been bumping up close to the 100 degree mark the last few days and the trend is for it to continue several more days. We stopped at about 12:30 AM I was beat! Needless to say I slept in this morning until 9:45am. I didn't really want to get up then but I didn't want to waste anymore of the day so I got up.

I really want to go ride and see my horse but alas, I have so many things I need to do here and it's so hot that the best time is early morning or late evening both which are sort of out of the question for a few days yet.

Because it's been so hot, my laundry load has doubled! (Surprise)

Well, I'm blabbed on long enough and probably bored most of you to tears by now so will sign off for now. I may try to post tonight after I get off work....provided I'm not helping Doyle with the trailer again!

Something to ponder  that I'm pondering over for my "Believing God" class....

Jesus asked the question, "Who do you say that I am?

Thursday June 16, 2005

I am so tired today. I was determined to complete a couple of page L/O's in my friend's scrapbook and didn't get to bed until nearly 1am! I have this thing about completing what I'm working on but I've sure paid for it today. I nearly fell asleep in my chair at work! Did I come home and take a nap? NO! I wanted to but Doyle needed help taping and masking off the trailer so he could paint. (See I do help some). Remember yesterday I said he painted the red stripe so that's what we covered so he could paint the rest of the trailer white. He goes back to work on Monday and he wants to be through with the trailer before then.

After that, I fixed him some dinner...go ole' Texas meal...chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and cream corn. Yum. That is one of my husband's favorite meals. The other is steak and baked potatoes. Oh, yeah, he likes pinto beans and corn bread too! (not exactly a low fat diet!)

Grace and peace to you all

Wednesday June 15, 2005

Got my hair trimmed today. I was in major need. I always wait too long then I look like a sheepdog! I figured when I called I would have to wait until next week but she just had a cancellation so I got in this afternoon. I was so happy.

Doyle painted the trailer with primer then was able to paint the top and the red stripe. The trailer is blue now and we (I am helping some) are painting it predominately white with a red stripe. It's going to look so cool when it's done. It will look like a brand new trailer!

Gave Mercy a bath today...yeah, the Great Dane. Picture this. A hundred pound dog standing in your bath tub while you are wetting her down with a shower wand. She does really well but it alot of work to wash her and then dry her off. She smells so nice and feels so soft when I get through.

I'm preparing to go visit my family in Missouri next month. I haven't been there in almost 5 years. My grandmother (my dad's mother) is still living and is 90 years old. I am also planning to see my mother's side of the family or at least some of them. I haven't done as well keeping up with them. Some of them I haven't seen in 15 years! (How embarrassing to admit). My mother has volunteered to take her car so we will ride with her. I am really looking forward to it.

I will close and give you a verse to ponder....

The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone (talking about Abraham), but also for us to whom God will credit righteousness-for us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. Romans 4:23-24

This is so cool! Righteousness is credited to us also if we believe God! Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief!

Goodnight all

Tuesday June 14, 2005

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. The cable company was working on the lines in our neighborhood and the cable went off and on all day into early evening. Then we had a pretty intense thunderstorm move through so I decided to just wait.

I did check on the horses and everyone is fine. I always get a little concerned during storms like that (they can get struck by lightning, or hit by flying debris).

I helped Doyle tape off the aluminum strips on the trailer so hopefully he can primer it tomorrow. He had hoped to do that today but a couple from our church invited us over for grilled hamburgers (woohoo, I don't have to cook!) Anyway don't have much time before I have to leave. I'll try to come back later and maybe post some more.

God is good all the time

P.S. Had a great time at the couples house we went to! Looking forward to getting with them again. We went over there around 6pm and got home at 10:30pm and it was hard to leave then!

This is what I learned today in my "Believing God" Bible Study

Four motivations for a life of believing God
1) Incomparable power (Ephesians 1:19)
2) The pleasure of God (Hebrews 11:6a)
3) Reward (Hebrews 11:6b)
4) God will often act according to our faith (Matthew 9:29)

Goodnight everyone

Sunday June 12, 2005

Today was busy too! There was church of course which was good. The lady I call "Momma Irene" has been married to her husband for 50 years and her children threw them a celebration at the church. It was 2-5pm. We were only able to stay a short while as our cell group was scheduled to pack food boxes at New Haven Helping Hands at 3pm. After that we were able to coast for the remainder of the day. Doyle decided to sand on the other side of the trailer but I chose to take a break. I scrapbooked a couple of pages for my friend. Now that I've started I'm really getting excited about giving it to her.

Enough for tonight.

Saturday, June 11 2005

What a day! Was awakened at 7:30am this morning by lawn mowers next door! I couldn't go back to sleep so I got up. Did my homework for the "Believing God" bible study. I think I mentioned this before but I decided to make a scrapbook for my friend Nancy who used to ride with me all the time. She took all the pcitures and fave me a copy, she still has the negatives. So I am slowly making copies of all the pics she took of us riding. CVS (was formerly Eckerd's) was having a sale on 4x6 reprints through their Kodak machine (.19 cents each). So I hopped on my bike and rode to CVS (about 3 miles). Thankfully I was there early enough no one else was using the machine. I made 67 reprints and I'm not through! Then I peddled back home to help Doyle work on the horse trailer. He needed a couple of things from the hardware store so I hope on my bike again. When I get back this time I help him sand the roof of the trailer. It had gotten really rusted. We've had the trailer 10 years and I think it's a 1993 Ponderosa 20ft gooseneck trailer with a tackroom at the front of the horse box. It's actually a combination horse/stock trailer. I really like it. We're going to repaint, rewire and probably repair the floor. I'm one tired Chick.

Well, I best close tonight

Friday June 10, 2005

Had lunch with a dear friend of mine. Then we went to check out the new coffee house that recently opened called HjO. It's kind of like a small version of Star Bucks. Pretty neat for our little town. We both had cafe lattes. Then I went by the scrapbook store as another one of my friends was working for the owner since she was going to the National Scrapbooking Convention in Arlington. Her birthday was Tuesday and was unable to make connections with her to give it to her until today. I gave her a discountinued Creative Memories Accessory Binder with extra pockets and places to store scissors and pens. Someone had actual found this binder at the Goodwill store and gave it to me. I already had a binder so I decided to give it to my friend Kelly. I had to buy her the protector pages but I didn't mind. She's worth it. She was really excited when she opened her gift.

Here is a picture of me on my horse Blue and my friend Leslie on my other horse Valentine. Riding in the Rodeo parade

Then I went home. Didn't get a bike ride in today and didn't get to ride (bummer) It was pretty hot and muggy plus storms were beginning to build. Anyway my dear sweet husband had mentioned to me he wanted to do some repair on the trailer so I brought it home. Of course I had to go visit my babies! I took some treats and fly spray. They enjoyed that.

After getting home Doyle and I cleaned out the trailer to get it ready for him to work on. He is on vacation next week and plans to work on the wiring and possibly paint it. We also pulled up the floor mats and discovered some boards need to be replaced.

I'll close with this exerpt from Believing God by Beth Moore:

Nothing on earth compares to the strength God willingly interjects into lives caught in the act of believing. Paul likens it to the stunning power God exerted when He raised His Son from the dead! You have no need that exceeds His power.

His incomparably great power for us who believe...Epesians 1:19 NIV

Friday June 10, 2005

Our pastor and his wife treated us to dinner and a concert in the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth. There was a firework show at the end to music that was awesome! We really enjoyed our time together.

Started a bible study through our church today by Beth Moore called Believing God.   I think this is going to be a really cool class. I am very excited about it. It came just at the right time for me. We are doing the video/workbook series not the online. I'll keep you posted how it goes.

Rode my bike 6 miles today. Hope I can go ride my horse tomorrow. I've been too busy...not good. I haven't seen my horse in a week! It's beginning to get too hot in the afternoon to ride so I'm going to have to figure out how I can do it either early or late evening. With as much stuff as I do in the evening this will be a challenge.

Planning on giving a friend of mine a scrapbook for her birthday of all the pictures she took of us riding together. Since she took all the pics I'm having to go get my pics scanned because I don't have the negatives. She will be excited. One of the horse albums I bought yesterday was with her in mind. She owns the Italian food restaurant here in town. We used to ride really regular then I'm not sure what happen....she got really busy with the restaurant and we've not been riding in a couple of years. I'm hoping to take her again soon. She is so much fun. She loves horses like me but has never had one and doesn't know how to ride very well but she's learning. She is Italian and came from New York six or seven years ago to open this restaurant. As far as I'm concerned it's the best one in town! If you ever visit I recommend eating there.

Well, need to go to bed.... oh one more thing....This is what I learned today in the bible study (not that I don't already know this but this is what we are going to focus on for the next 9 weeks.)

God is who He says He is

God can do what He says He can

I am who God says I am

I can do all things through Christ

God's word is alive an active in me.

By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:8 NKJV

Wednesday June 8, 2005

I had a great birthday! Best one I have had in a long time. First my mom started things up by calling me. Then my brother called me. I went to work and had a message on the office machine from a friend from church leaving me birthday wishes. My daughter told me to not make plans for lunch as she was taking me. About an hour before lunch the lady from church that is like a mom to me who calls me "Miss Spunky" came by to bring me a gift and wish me happy birthday. Then another lady from church had a birthday yesterday and Momma Irene (I call her) wanted to leave her gift with me when I saw her at lunch. And I said "what lunch?" She said "oops". So now I know something is up. Vanessa comes by to get me and as we drive up to the restaraunt I begin to see vehicles I know. When we get inside there is a table with 10 ladies from my church throwing me a party! I got $95 dollars in gift certificates to the local scrap book store! The cooler thing is, the lady who owns the scrap book store came in to see me and brought me a gift certificate from her to her own store....how cool is that! I am so blessed! Then someone brought a huge cake. Everyone sang to me and then all the the waiters and waitresses came over and sang Happy Birthday to me in spanish (yes we were in a mexican food restaraunt). Doyle was on duty today at the fire station but he and his party came by to say hello.

After that I went home....after pigging out for two days in a row I knew I need to excercise so I got out my bike and rode 7 miles. Then after cooling off I went to the scrapbook store and spent some of my money. The scrapbook store had two albums I wanted. The cover is horses.

I found these on the web because I was looking for some albums for pets. When I found it I told Cathy who owns the scrap book store. The cool person that she is she order them for me along with some others. These albums are even prettier in person. I have plenty of horse pictures to fill both of them. I also wanted an album for dogs and cats. They make one that's just cats and just dogs and they also have an album that has both. I have enough dog & cat photos to fill an album too. You can found out more about these albums by going to their website.

After church tonight my daughter and her boyfriend wanted to grill hamburgers for me on the grill. Yum Yum! Right now I have a house full of kids as my niece came over who is 16 and some of her friends have come over to hangout. I have 6 extra people at my house! Vanessa had gotten a movie for me to watch but alas there's too much racket going on to hear it so guess we'll have to put that off until another night when there's not so many here.

The only thing I didn't get that I usually treat myself to is watermelon! I am a a HUGE watermelon fan and usually keep on in the refrigerator while they are in season.

Well, goodnight to all!

Wednesday June 8, 2005

I meant to post last night but had a leadership meeting with the pastor and his wife and was late getting home. The leaders meet once a month to discuss how we are doing, good, bad and the ugly. We also take time to pray for one another and the congregation and any specific individuals that maybe struggling. We also seek God about the direction He wants us as a congregation to go. I always enjoy it as our pastor's wife always cooks us dinner at their home before we have our meeting. It's a great time of fellowship and sharing with one another.

We signed the papers on our house yesterday and received the check! Woo Hoo! So now we can begin the next phase of our journey. I'm trying not to "look at my circumstances" because things look bleak if I do that. Because we weren't always good stewards of our money and got a little greedy for things we accumulated some debt. So we plan to take care of that before we do anything else. Which of course leaves us less to work with. I am reminded of the five loaves and two fish. How much more God can and wants to do for me (now I'm preaching to myself!) Anyway, for those who pray would you pray for us that we would find the land God has for us and that it would happen as quickly as the sale of our house. We have a place to live so we aren't being pressured to find something quickly, just would like it not to take a long time. You would think that as old as I am now and as long as I've walked with God that I would have more patience now....In some ways I do in others well....that area still needs some work.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord for HE IS GOOD! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 118:29.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory. Ephesians 3:20

I'll post again later tonight. Blessings to you all.

Monday June 6, 2005

Attended our youth fundraiser lunch. The kids leave for Argentina June 16th. Managed to get a short nap in and a 6 mile bike ride. I didn't get a chance to ride it on Saturday so thought I better Sunday. Then went to the ballgame. It lasted FOREVER. It was not all that exciting to me. Score was tied 1 to 1 after nine innings so it went into extra innings. I left at 9:45 and it was just the bottom of the 7th! Took home one of my cell members and then went to see my husband who was on duty at the Fire Station that was across the highway from the ball field. Since this was the season opener there were supposed to be fireworks after the ballgame. I thought I would watch with my husband from the fire station driveway. Well, 11pm rolled around and they were only in the 11th inning still tied! I decided to go home! I can see fire works fourth of July! Doyle said the game ended not long after I left....go figure.

This picture is over a year old (2/04). I am 15 lbs lighter this year and my hair is different. Doyle is pretty much the same.
This was taken at Coronation Vanessa's senior year. This event is bigger than prom. She was co-emcee with another classmate.

Here's another picture of Vanessa in her dress. We spent too much for it but justified it by saying "it's her senior year". I'm still contemplating making her get married in it!

Sorry I don't have that many current pictures. I'll have to work on that. I'm still in the process of uploading pictures to photobucket but while I'm getting a free trial of Premium Xanga I'll use them. But it goes away in a week! So don't be surprised when stuff disappears!

I don't have much current news, wait a minute...yes I do! We are scheduled to close on our house tomorrow which means we can begin to be serious about land hunting now!

I long for the day I can watch my horses grazing contentedly in our own pasture! Go ride at the drop of a hat. Hear the night sounds of the insects and night creatures as well as be able to really see the stars! To see the sunrise or sunset without the horizon being blocked by another house or trees. To watch as a thunderstorm develops on the horizon and watch the lighting show after dark. To not hear the sounds of people or highway traffic. To smell the fragrance of freshly turned dirt or cut hay. To see wildlife like wild turkey and deer. That's what my heart longs for. Don't get me wrong I like people but I also enjoy my "alone time" very much.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. Make His face shine upon you and give you peace

Goodnight all.

Saturday, 04 June 2005

Gosh, my weekend is almost over and I don't feel like I got to do anything. Worked last night and had some tests come in right before I left that had to be graded so didn't get home until 10:30pm (I work 5:30pm-10pm).

Today there was a baby shower at our church at 3pm. Then we went to a friends quinceanera which was supposed to start at 4pm. So didn't get to stay at the baby shower long. Thank goodness I live in a small community and you can get anywhere within 10 minutes! The Quinceanera was an hour late starting! UGH! That is so annoying to me. Could have stayed at the baby shower longer had there been anyway to know. My daughter was in the court. The young lady (her name is Leslie - prounounced Lezlee) whom the Quinceanera was for is the daughter of my dear friend who is letting us keep our horses on their property until we are able to buy our own. The daughter has a horse too so we go ride together. It's been good and fun for me as she is a rookie. She just got her horse two years ago. She's really doing good though.

This is a picture of me and Leslie. She is riding one of our horses (Valentine) as we didn't think her horse was quite ready for this trail ride. There were over 400 riders in it. This was the trail ride that takes place Rodeo week. We rode approximately 14 miles. The full ride is about 20 miles. We got off the trail ride at lunch so that we could get cleaned up for the parade that started at 5pm.

We have a contract on our house in town and if nothing goes wrong will sign papers to make it official June 7th. Then the task of finding a place. It's hard not to be discouraged sometimes though as land is pretty expensive and by the time you put any structures on it especially a house the price really goes out the roof. But I'm trying to believe and trust God that this is His plan for us and "He will make a way where there seems to be no way."

Well, I think I may scrap book a little before the night is totally gone. Tomorrow is church and afterwards the youth are hosting a fundraising lunch for their trip to Argentina. We'll have a little time in the afternoon but then our cell group is going to the Mineral Wells Steam (a collegiate baseball team www.tclsteam.com) game which starts at 7:05pm.TTYL

Friday June 3, 2005

Gosh, what to say. Went to work this morning after dragging myself out of bed. Went to lunch with a friend. Rode my bike. Went to work at my other part time job. In case you're wondering I have two part time jobs. My first is working for my church as the secretary. My church is Well of Life. We have a website and you can visit it at www.welloflife.org You can even see a picture of me and my husband there! My husband and I are also cell pastors (which basically means we are leaders of a home group) I am also on the worship team at our church. I sing, play some guitar and piano (I'm not accomplished by any means) Anyway, I lead worship once a month on Wednesday evenings. In fact I lead this Wednesday. I have worked for the church now six years. My hours are Monday thru Friday 9am until noon.

My other part time job is working for an independently owned Defensive Driving School. They have classes and offer it on video. My job is to help with the video side of the business. Two days a week I am the "help desk". When people are at home taking the video and have any problems or questions they call me. I also grade tests and enter data in the computer. I like it. It's a good job for part time.

If you've wondered about my web name well, a dear sweet lady at church who is like a mother to me always calls me "Miss Spunky" so I decided to keep it. And the reason I have Light House on my website is because my last name is "Light" so our house really is a "Light House"

I really need to go to bed now. Good night to everyone and may He give His beloved sleep!

Wednesday June 1, 2005

My week is all messed up since I didn't work Monday. Had a really good message tonight at church. Talking about hearing the voice of God. Did a little housekeeping today, one room. Rode my bike. Weather was great! Had a front move through bringing about an inch or more of rain and cooler temperatures (upper 70's). That's a little cool for this time of year.

Not much to report so will go for now.
