Pink Clouds? 6-03-2018

As I was cooking supper I noticed that the sky was a strange color. I went out to investigate.

Zoomed in a bit.

Just so you know, I am looking in the same direction but the clouds have changed drastically.

Then the color changes! Very unique!

All I can say is WOW! So pretty!

Have a good one!

Rock House Retreat 5-27-2018

Sunday, May 27th I began my day by spending it outside while it was still cool which didn't last very long! I enjoyed watching the birds and butterflies.

This retreat was a quilters retreat but it was specific to making collage quilts. They really aren't quilts at all but pieces of art that will be hung to view and not use.

Teresa got bit by the "quilting bug". Well, it really happened at the last retreat but she didn't exhibit any symptoms until this retreat. I saw the "handwriting on the wall" when she started asking those who were quilting questions.

Then she began to "look" at fabric. Before I knew it she had bought a pattern and started her own collage.

Look how much she got done! She didn't finish at the retreat.

Here are some of the other quilt collages.

This one was very impressive as it was made with strips of fabric!

This was my favorite! The lady who did this is from San Diego California and lives on a sailboat! She also roomed with me and Teresa. She was so sweet and leads such an interesting life!

This group of ladies liked us so much they have invited us to join them again in October! So Teresa and I are planning to go back!

It was a great time!

Have a good one!

Rock House Retreat 5-26-2018

Saturday of the retreat I began my morning sitting outside with my Bible, journal and camera. I had been journaling when this little worm invaded my space. I was intrigued and watched him. I was entertained enough I decided to video his journey across my journal.

I spotted this humming bird on the end of a branch.

I chased butterflies around for a while. That was fun.

Do you see the lizard?

I chased this butterfly quite a while hoping it would land long enough for a picture thinking it was a Monarch but I believe it is it's counterpart called the Viceroy.

The owner of Rock House Retreat home is within walking distance. She told me I could sit on her porch to watch the sunset.

I love the open space!

Have a good one!

Rock House Retreat 5-25-2018

My friend Teresa and I had decided we both needed a retreat! The sooner the better. I actually think she needed it worse than me but I was game. I looked on Rock House Retreat Facebook page and discovered there was a retreat Memorial Day Weekend. It was actually a "Quilters Retreat" but the Quilters like me and Teresa 😉. There were only 2 spots open and we took them!

We arrived on Thursday and stayed through Monday.

On Friday a severe thunderstorm with hail came over the retreat center. Thankfully the hail was only pea to marble size and wasn't heavy. You can see the video here if you're interested.

These were some of the bigger hail stones. I thought the one with a white ring was interesting.

Left over anvil cloud after the storm passes.

As I typically do on any retreat I like to take a walk-about the area. The temps moderated enough after the storm for me to do that.

A single Thistle. Although a prickly weed, the purple blooms are very intriguing.

I think the name of these is Coreopsis.

This guy was posing so pretty for me I couldn't help but take a picture!

I believe these are called Cone flowers.

There are Mexican Hats

Indian Paint Brush among a sea of yellow.

What you see here is all up and down both sides of the road. I just love Texas this time of year.

Remnants of Blanket Flowers. It is past their prime. They are usually out around the same time as Bluebonnets although they last a little longer.

A Western Flycatcher.

The sun peaked out from behind the clouds in the West

To the East storm clouds that had already past us by and the moon.

I was surprised by a rare sighting of a Painted Bunting! This was as close as I dare get even with my zoom fully extended! I didn't have much light either but I was thrilled to get to see this beautiful bird!

I'll share more in another post.

Have a good one!
