A Day With Korin 11-1

Keannon, Vanessa and Kennedy went out of town for a family friend's memorial service. Kashton stayed with a friend and Korin stayed with us.

Mom (Grammer) brought Korin with her to the office to help me fold Sunday's bulletin.

After I was through at the office I needed to do some banking for the church. Korin waiting in line with me at the bank.

Then on our way home I decided to stop to get a picture at Poston's Square.

And we took a couple of selfies.

She went with me to do some grocery shopping at Walmart. After we finished I took her to the new Claire's store that opened recently inside Walmart. She had not been. She thought she was in heaven!

Of course it cost me to get out of the store but it was worth it to see her beaming from ear to ear!

Korin helped set the table for dinner. She was a very good helper!

She was one tired girl! She fell asleep in the chair. Granddad carried her to bed.

Have a good one!

Early First Freeze 11-1

Our first freeze usually happens around mid to late November. We had our first Arctic front of the season arrive the day before Halloween. Temperatures got down to the upper 20's for the low.

Everything was nice and frosty including a touch of frost on Fancy's blanket!

I thought it was cool how the frost glistened like glitter on the pipe round pen panels.

If you click on the picture to see it larger you can see the detail of the frost on this weed in the pasture.

My neighbor's cat, Leap, that comes to the barn to see me each time I'm here getting a drink from the horses water trough kept ice free from a tank heater.  I feed him and a feral cat I call Ebony that started coming to the barn as a kitten. He used to run from me but now runs to me for me to pet him 😉

I feed them on a wooden pallet that sits on its side to keep the food off the ground from other critters that might come to the barn. These two are buddies. They come running to the barn every time I drive up in the truck.

They crack me up as they only eat when I'm standing there petting them. My neighbor says that when I leave the barn they come back to her house.

I was so intrigued by the look of frost on everything that I took a walk in the wooded area next to the horses before leaving to go to work.

Net Ninjas 10-19

Kennedy's volleyball game. The video is about 10 mins. Kennedy is #20

Keannon and Vanessa planned a short get away. They asked us if we would keep the girls and they would make arrangements for Kashton to spend the night with a friend.

Kennedy and Korin crafting in my studio.

Doyle had laid down to take a nap as is his habit. Korin asked where he was and I told her. She went back to our room and crawled in bed with him. The next thing we know she's sound asleep!

We had a great time!

Have a good one!

Baby Rabbit 10-17

I am so grateful for the people who moved into the house by the horses. I love them and visit with them quite often. I refer to them as my "horse neighbors"!

I was visiting with them the other night before I fed when we were interrupted by squeaking sounds coming from the pasture. Jen saw her cat with something but couldn't tell what it was. Her husband Tim and daughter Ava went out to investigate and discovered he had caught a baby rabbit.

Of course Ava wanted to keep him.

Jen held the bunny too. Her husband Tim turned him lose in the woods next to the horse pasture.

The sky was beautiful again. It was a different kind of beauty but it was still beautiful!

Remi Goes Home 10-15

Remi had a 4 day weekend at her school in Colorado so the kids made arrangements to get her. Vanessa was on her way to take her to the airport and they stopped by my office to say goodbye. I asked Vanessa to take a picture of me with the kids. Korin stayed with Grammer.

When I went to feed horses God once again gave me a beautiful painting in the sky.

This is looking toward the West as the sun went behind the horizon.

This is looking toward the Southwest. I thought it was cool how the pink colors came through the clouds

A combined look of the West and South.

I needed to stop at a store before going home so I went through town. The streets were still wet from the brief shower that came through. I loved how the colors in the sky were reflected in the water.

I couldn't resist getting this shot of the Baker with the sunset.

Beautiful Evening 10-14-19

Feeding the horses the sky was looking like it was going to burst with color and I was right!

I am always in awe of how the sunset evolves.

Then I turned around and saw this faint partial rainbow!

As I am catching this last shot I hear the sound of wings and see a large bird fly right over my head.

I first thought it was a hawk because of its size but then realized it was an owl. He flew to the church steeple and perched on the top.

I took this picture before trying to get closer to him but as I thought might happen he flew off.

Here's a little surprise for you. Remi was here for a short visit! Kennedy took this picture of us with the sunset.

Have a good one!

Crazy Festival Dance 10-12-2019

Korin's dance class performed at the Crazy Water Festival on October 12th.

Korin has a yellow bow. Mom didn't get the memo it was supposed to be red 😉

In position to begin the dance.

Here is a video of the dance if you're interested. I don't think she has learned the dance very well.

Have a good one!
