Kennedy and Korin Dance 11.24.23

Kennedy and Korin's dance groups performed at the Crazy Water Hotel for Merry Wells, the event that kicks off the Christmas season in our town on Saturday.

This is what it looked like inside the Hotel

This video is of Kennedy's dance group. She got promoted to Senior Company which is made up of girls 4-5 years older than her! The knee brace is for pain Kennedy has been having. They have had it checked out. Xray,  MRI, conclusion is she had an old injury that was healed. She does have some inflammation in the knee that there doesn't seem to be an explanation for.

Korin also danced. Click here to watch her performance.

Have a good one!

Thanksgiving at the Baileys

The Baileys hosted Thanksgiving. I helped with the food. I didn't do a very good job of taking photos this year.

It was a small gathering for lunch. Others came over after lunch to watch the game.

There were 2 turkeys. One was cooked in the oven. The other was smoked. The were both good but I'm a fan of smoked any day!

Kennedy started a contest of putting a blob of Redi Whip on your hand popping it up and trying to catch in your mouth. I should have started the video on the first try as Kennedy nailed it. This one was  not quite as perfected

Kennedy and her cousin Krystal.

Wayne & Kelley came over to watch the game as did two couple friends of Keannon and Vanessa's.

I did get this photo (11-20) before Remi left. Many of you will probably get this photo in your Christmas card from Mother this year.

Korin (9) Remi (15), Grammer,  Kennedy 14 and Kashton (10)

Celebrating Remi 11.19.2023

Remi came for the weekend. Her birthday was November 15th. We celebrated it on Sunday November 19th. She turned 15!

Remi surprised by my gift.

Several years ago I bought large letters for Remi and Kennedy that I decorated and they hung in their room. Somewhere along the several moves the kids made the letters got wet. Vanessa gave them to me and I thought I would let the girls decorate them how they wanted over the summer. Well, that never happened.

I decided to decorate Remi's for her and that would be my gift to her. Remi loves cross country so I
used papers I found that were cross country theme. I think they turned out pretty cute!

I just noticed that I have the last "N" upside down in the photo!
Visiting with friends and family
It was a great time!

Have a good one!

Fall Festival 11.11.2023

Korin went with a friend to a fall festival held by a local church. Her friend's name is Zara.

A little face painting.

I love this picture!

Then they rode ponies. I had to chuckle. Korin is almost too big for the pony!

They had a great time

Have a good one!

First Deer 11.11.2023

Keannon took Kennedy hunting. I didn't even know she knew how to shoot! If you're on Facebook then you've already know this news and have seen these pictures.

Here is what Vanessa posted:

Proud mom moment!

This girl was big mad her little brother got to go hunt and get a buck before her last year. So this year we promised she would get first hunt with Dad.
Because of his schedule he hasn’t been able to take her to practice shoot so she hasn’t touched a gun in over a year. About the time she was bored enough to be done this guy walked out. First shot, first time hunting, dropped him dead. Her dad said it was a heck of a shot too!

This grandmother is impressed!

I personally don't like hunting. The only shooting I want to do is with a camera.

Have a good one!

Conference Day Two and Day Three

Day 2 of the conference ended with a beautiful sunset.

Fall colors were outstanding!

Day 3 of the conference. Meagon and I wanted a picture with these posters.

Give you some idea how many people were there. The only reason you see empty seats is because those people are at the front!

It was a great time!

Have a good one!

E-Bikes at Turtle Bay 11.01.2023

Wednesday November 1st was our last "free" day before the conference. We went back to Turtle Bay to rent electric bikes to ride along the Sacramento River. That was a blast! You still peddle but the bike does most of the work!

Doyle riding in front of me.

Meagon behind me.

Beautiful trails!

Beautiful view!

This is at Sundial Bridge where we rented the bikes.

Funny story. Doyle was talking to our City Manager (who also happens to be his friend). Doyle told him where to look for the live cam for the Sundial Bridge. He saw us on the live cam and took a picture! How fun is that. We are in the bottom left hand corner.

Later that evening was the first night of the conference.

Have a good one!

California Trip 10.31.23

We spent Halloween this year in Northern California! We traveled on Monday October 30th. It takes all day. It's only a 3 1/2 hour flight but it's an 1 1/2 to the airport on this end and 2 hour drive on the other.

We arrived at our final destination in Redding (Northern California) about 4:30 pm. By the time we arrived at our VRBO and settled in it was time for dinner.

We came out for a church conference. We have attended several times now. Our church is networked with Bethel Church in Redding, California. We are part of a group called Bethel Leaders Network. Pastors and leaders from all over the world.

The conference started Wednesday evening but the last several times we have gone we arrive a few days early to just relax and do a few fun things. Once the conference begins on Wednesday night, it is all day Thursday and Friday so there isn't opportunity to do anything else.

We took our friend Meagon again. I've been mentoring her. She is like another daughter to us.

On Tuesday we went to Turtle Bay a park with hiking biking trails along the Sacramento River. Doyle

learned about a non-profit group called "Friends of the Redding Eagles". There is a pair of eagles who nest in this park for the last several years. We connected with one of the members and they showed us were the nest was located and also a few places that the eagles frequent when in the area. We did not see the eagles that day. There are no eggs yet in the nest so they don't hang out there a lot. There is a live cam if you're interested. You can see it here. They also have a facebook page.

This is the nest.

Doyle and I walking with Terri Lhuillier one of the members of FORE (Friends of Redding Eagles). The nest is close to an extremely busy highway (the one we are walking next to).

The white thing is the Sun Dial Bridge.

This is a vulture that seemed to be sunbathing with his wings spread wide! I've never seen one do this!

Meagon took this photo.

Me and Meagon.

A bird I haven't seen before. I think it is a Northern Flicker.

It was a great first day.
