Homecoming 10-14-2022

Community Christian School Homecoming was October 14th.

Kennedy is on the back row in the middle.

This was taken in downtown.

Waiting for the players to come on the field.

Kennedy cheering.

Videos of Korin cheering.

Not part of homecoming but Vanessa recently posted these two photos of Kennedy that were so fun!

I'm not sure but I think Kennedy was about 3.

Kennedy currently, taken October 7th

A friend of Vanessa's posted this photo on Facebook taken the same year as the first photo above.

Have a good one!

Kashton's 1st Solo Ride 10-10-2022

Monday October 10th, I took Kashton riding.  He had never led a horse before. He was a bit anxious but he did just fine.

He and Fancy look good standing there.

It had been several months since the last time Kashton rode so we started in the round pen first.

If you watched the video you saw that it was beginning to rain. Doyle texted me that the radar was showing it might get heavier for a short time so we walked the horses under cover. Just as we got in the barn it did rain harder but not a long time.

After the rain stopped Kashton wanted to ride in the pasture. This was his first time to ride outside the round pen by himself. He did really well.

Have a good one!

Old Baldy 10-08-2022

After chillin' at the Shady Llama we learned about a place to overlook the city of Wimberley called Old Baldy Park. We decided to check it out.

It is 200 steps to the top!

I thought this plate on the first landing was cool!

It was worth the climb!

Click here for a video panoramic view.

The guy in the video flying the kite was using a fishing rod!

Heading back down the stairs.

We went back to the bed & breakfast to rest a bit before dinner. We had a late lunch and neither of us were hungry.

Although not as colorful the sunset was still beautiful.

We later went back to Wimberley for dinner at a place called Chill's on the Creek. We ate on the deck outside and had a surprise guest. There was a couple at a table next to us and the man freaked out! It was rather comical! Evidently this is a resident raccoon as the wait staff were not surprised. Vanessa and I had a good laugh!

Have a good one!

Day 2 of Weekend Get Away 10-08-2022

I had hoped Vanessa would get to sleep in but Kashton called her at 7:30am to ask where his socks were for his soccer game that he didn't have to be at until 9:15!

We went to the main house for breakfast. It was a beautiful morning so we opted to have breakfast on the porch. Our view from our table. We started off with wonderful fruit.

Our breakfast!

The traffic coming into Wimberley.

I had to have a picture with this beautiful mural

Vanessa's favorite store! She dropped some money here!

I just thought this was a cool shot.

The sidewalk. Thought it was cool that the pattern was the shape of Texas.

I think Vanessa and I went in almost every store in town (there were many!) All kinds of things. Clothing, jewelry, candles, candy, plants, sculptures, paintings and all other kinds of art.

A Christmas store.

A Boot store.

This is the most bizarre thing I saw! All I can say is "why"?

After shopping, we went to chill at a place called Shady Llama.

We did see the Llamas but no donkeys.

The teeth sticking out cracked us up!

I'll share the remainder of the day in another post.

Have a good one!

Get Away Weekend 10-07-2022

For Vanessa's birthday this year, I felt that I should give her a weekend away with me at a Bed &
Breakfast
. The last trip we took together was in 2019 when we went to Colorado for Worship at Red Rocks.

It isn't a milestone birthday. She turned 37 this year but she is always planning a birthday party for Korin who was born the day after her birthday.

And she's had a lot on her plate of late with homeschooling the two older ones, running the restaurant and running the family household all while Keannon is insurance adjusting in Florida after Hurricane Ian.

The soonest we could get away was last weekend. I booked a Bed & Breakfast at a place just outside Wimberley about an hour South of Austin. It's a town of less than 8,000 people who their downtown is filled with all types of shops, eateries and live entertainment. I was amazed at how many people and cars there were!

Our first stop we made was just an hour and a half down the road in a little town called Hico. I have a scrapbook friend who lives here and works at a well known chocolate factory. I've always wanted to stop when I've been through there but never took the time. Vanessa was game. We didn't go to the factory which was a separate location but we did stop at the candy store. It is called Wiseman House Chocolates. Yes, we both left with chocolate!

We arrive just in time to watch the sunset as we get settled in our room.

The entrance to our room. The "Mill Room".

This is the view from our porch.

Our room.

Another shot of the sunset from ground level.

Once unpacked we drove 10 minutes into Wimberley to eat dinner. We chose one of the recommendations of the Bed & Breakfast which was "Creekhouse".

Vanessa ordered fish tacos.

I got nachos with shredded chicken. Neither of us were able to eat all the food! It was very good!

Live entertainment.

Walking to the truck we saw this sign on one of the buildings.

Great start to a fun-filled weekend.

Have a good one!
