There Are Five

I told you about my barn cat having babies on September 28th in this post. I was able to pinpoint their location to an open garage belonging to the people who live near the horses. The former owners of the house had placed a floor on the rafters of the garage making room for storage.  Lovey, the name given to my barn cat by Ava the little girl of the family, had the babies in the rafters. Tim (the husband) said he saw them. He told me there were four. Two black and 2 gray.

The morning of October 18th while putting out cat food for Lovey I hear a kitten meow. The sound lead me to the hay room and see this little cutie. I thought Lovey was in the process of moving the babies to the barn.

Then I heard another kitten meow coming from the stacked hay! I had to turn on the light on my phone to see but sure enough the babies were in there and Mom joined them before I could get a picture!

I left for a retreat this day and Doyle was in charge of taking care of horses.

I let him know about the kittens so he could watch for them when getting hay.

He saw them all out while I was gone and we learned there were 5 babies not 4!

Not a great picture but I took this the day I got back from my retreat October 22nd. There are 3 black and 2 gray.

Lovey is a good Mama.

You can watch a short video clip of them here.

I have enjoyed watching them.

Lovey moved them again October 28th but not far. They are in some bushes closer to the house. Not sure how I feel about that. I felt they were safer in the barn but I guess Lovey thinks otherwise. The bushes are right where I drive by and I sure don't want to run over any of them!

Have a good one!

Korin's First Soccer Game 10-06-2018

The youngest grandchild is now in sports. Vanessa signed Korin up for soccer.

Doyle and I were a little late arriving for the game and they were already in play. What we witnessed was the Coach switching out players and putting Korin on the bench. Korin didn't stay on the bench but kept coming out to the field.

It took Vanessa telling her to do what the Coach said before she complied!

Vanessa told us that she had been coming off the field every few minutes to her or Keannon.

She finally got a little action.

The girl with a bun wearing the navy shirt is going to be a heck of a soccer player!

Getting some instruction from the Coach.

This picture just cracks me up.

There she is again standing there with her hands on her hips!

Too cute for her own good!

Have a good one!

Little Brother's Birthday 10-05-2018

Wayne was in Louisiana on business and being that close he came to stay here with Kelley who already made arrangements with us to stay in the apartment for her visit with her daughter Sophie.

Kelley planned a birthday dinner for Wayne at Saltgrass in Fort Worth. Everyone but his oldest son Taylor was there. Taylor and Whitney had a wedding.

His daughter Destiny brought the cake.

The birthday boy and Kelley.

Destiny is on the left and Addison on the right. Destiny and her husband Michael moved to San Angelo. Addison and her boyfriend live in Colorado Springs. So it was a real treat to get to see both of them.

Addison is expecting a boy and the due date is February 6th.

Mom and Wayne.

Destiny made plans after dinner for them to go to a Haunted House...which explains Addison's shirt.

Justin, Addison's BF, took the photo of us. I hate that we didn't get someone else to take the photo so he could be included.

Destiny got her dad the "Wayne's World" cap as his costume. Cute huh?!

We had a great time!

Happy birthday Wayne!

Have a good one!

Peculiar Critters

I am so thankful that God saw fit to provide me with plenty of things to fascinate me even though I don't live in the country. I am always seeing something intriguing when I go feed the horses.

I saw something moving on the ground and took a closer look. This little guy was really fast and it was sunset so I was running out of daylight quickly. He graciously climbed up on a weed and I manage to get a pic or two.

I have no idea what kind it is but it was fun to watch.

I am finding more spiders and webs. This one I spied when I arrived to do the morning feeding. There was a heavy dew that morning and there are droplets on the web. You may have to click on the picture to make it large enough to see that.

At first I thought this was a yellow jacket but it is not.

A few days later I find another "woolly worm". This one was in the barn.

I saw this one in the morning time also. May have even been the same spider. There was a big web. It appeared at first that it was continuing to  build it's web.  I said to myself "I'll take a picture when I come back but when I got back to the truck this was all that was left of the huge web! It took the web down that fast! I was amazed!

As I was leaving I saw this pretty Scissor-tail on the fence. I stopped to watch it for a minute.

I watched him or her grab a couple of bugs.

Although a little blurry I thought this photo was cool in capturing the movement of the Scissor-tail.

Got another bug!

This worm looks prehistoric! He's on the side of a horse stall. I found him during a night feeding.

Found this pair on our porch at home. They are U.G.L.Y. I have no idea what they are but I do know they aren't Army Worms.

Have a good one!

Korin's First Horse Ride 10-04-2018

About a week ago Korin asked me about riding a horse. This is the first she has ever said anything!

I put Kennedy on a horse for the first time at age 2. Kashton was 3 and Korin just turned 4.

I made arrangements with Vanessa to pick her up from school on Thursday October 4th.  We went straight to the horses. I asked Korin which horse she wanted to ride and she said "the one that looks like a cow!" Now that made me laugh. She was referring to Diamond. I was a little surprised because he is the biggest horse of the three. However he always lets her pet him.

She was not the least bit nervous and seemed very comfortable in the saddle.  Korin is one of those kids that doesn't want to do anything unless she is absolutely sure about it.

She wasn't even holding on to the saddles horn. I was impressed.

She "thanks him" for giving her a good ride. He however is just interested in going back to the pasture with his buddies.

Diamond is a sweet boy.

Diamond was going to rub his head on Korin.

We had a successful first ride. She wants to do it again 😊

Have a good one!

Un FOUR Gettable

Korin turned four years old on September 26th. Vanessa had her party on Saturday, September 30th.

Her birthday theme was rainbow.

Singing Happy Birthday to Korin.

Blowing out the candles.

Licking the frosting off one of the candles.

One of the guest was kind enough to take a picture with my camera.

The little red head is Korin's best friend. Her name is Ellie.

Opening the card I made her.

Everytime I use this stamp the phrase "Bad hair day?" comes to mind. I decided to go with it. On the inside it say "No, it's your birthday!" I added the googly eyes.

She wanted a picture with her present before she opened it. It's the one we gave her.

I got her the Target knock-off of the American Girl doll. She loves Kennedy's.

She noticed that the dolls eyes are blue just like hers.

A little cash is always nice although I think Mom was more thrilled than Korin 😉

Grandma and Gramps (Keannon's parents).

Grammer....Korin's favorite 😊. There was a bounce house and kids everywhere. I just realized I didn't take pics of the kids playing 😲. Oh, well. It was a great party and everyone had fun!

Have a good one!
