Lightning Caught in Action 7-12-2018

On July 12th, we had a little storm blow up. One of those that is induced by heat. They form then
tend to not move but rain themselves out.

This one kind of formed over us and I actually managed to capture lightning in a picture!

You can see the evidence of rain in the distance.

Unfortunately we didn't get any rain out of this 😞

I was so excited to capture this! I haven't gotten a picture of lightning in more than 30 years!

Now this picture is of the same lightning strike but as it is fading. I thought that was pretty cool too.

I was so thankful for this wonderful opportunity!

Have a good one!

Celebrating Friends

The girls spent another night with us. Remi's absolute most favorite thing to eat is pancakes so that's what we had for breakfast.

This girl can put away the pancakes!

I guess we keep the house too cold for Kennedy. They were playing a game on the computer.

Later that night we went to the Hole-in-the-Wall Grill & Bier Garten. We met up with our friends the Bolts. These are the people from our church who also have horses.

It was a nice night on the patio. See the reflection of the Baker in the window? The live music was good too!

We learned that the Bolts (Tracy and Joelle) were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary July 23rd.

Doyle urged us all to come with him. We were all like "what is up?"

He wanted to give Tracy and Joelle a carriage ride for their anniversary. They were going on a cruise for their anniversary and wouldn't be here so we celebrated a bit early!

We got someone to take a picture for us!

Aren't they cute?!

Riding through downtown.

There has been lots of renovation going on downtown. It has really sparked excitement and hope!

We had a great time with them.

Have a good one!

July 4th

The kids invited us over for a cookout at their house on the 4th.

Vanessa had the kids dressed in 4th of July attire. I failed to get a picture of Kashton. He didn't have his shirt on when we arrived.

We played a game to help pass the time until it was time to eat.

Vanessa's friend Stevi went all out for the 4th wearing red, white and blue on her lips.

Doyle helping in the kitchen.

We joked that I caught him red handed. No excuse now 😉.

Kennedy took Stevi's glasses for this pose.

They had some other friends over. We had a great time and the food was amazing!

The kids and their friends went to watch the fireworks while Doyle and I were old fuddy duddys and went home. I did stand out in the street and watch them from home! I couldn't see all of them but saw most of them and we live 3 miles from where they were!

Have a good one!

Wildfires July 2, 2018

We are in drought conditions again. We didn't get the typical spring rains and the temperatures turned off hot earlier than usual.

In the community of Palo Pinto, which is our county seat 4 different wildfires broke out in rural areas.

Palo Pinto is 12 miles West of Mineral Wells but smoke could be seen.

When I feed horses the sky had a smokey haze and made for a little different sunset.

What you see in this photo is not clouds but smoke from the fires.

I repeat, these are not clouds but smoke from the wildfires. If you will look to the left side of the photo you can see the smoke rising from the horizon.

Three of the four fires were put out fairly quickly but one covered 4,483 acres over very rugged terrain and burned for a week before it was completely contained.

Things are so dry that a ban was put on the use of fireworks except for professional displays.

Pray for rain.

Have a good one!

Day Two at Studio 52

The pictures I took my second day at Teresa's studio have nothing to do with crafting. I did however take my walk to the back of the property to watch the sunset.

I stopped and said hello to Zebe. He and Clyde were pasture mates several years ago.

This is Zebe's pasture buddy now. Isn't his face cute?!

On to the tank where I watch the sunset.

I thought there would be a sky full of color but once the sun went down the color went with it.

My time with Teresa was as usual...too short but we will get together again!

Have a good one!

Weekend at Studio 52

I always love spending time with my friend Teresa. Unfortunately those times are not many in the hectic lives we both live...hers probably more so than mine.

We have learned that if we REALLY want to spend time we have to get our calendars out and mark it down before it happens.

So that's what we did while we were at the retreat Memorial Day Weekend. We got out our calendars and picked a date June 30th and July 1st.

This was taken inside "Studio 52". I love her saying on the wall. She has other quotes and neat things in her creative space.

Teresa lives in the country so I always take advantage of getting a good view of sunsets!

I zoomed in to watch the sun going behind the clouds.

The sun gone now to wait for the color to shine.

The colors did not disappoint!

The colors reach their peak before they slowly fade away.

We had a wonderful time together as we always do! We need to mark our calendars again😉.

Have a good one!

On the Beach Card Challenge

Cards in Envy challenge is "On the Beach".

This is my entry using a Unity Stamp by artist Phyllis Harris called "Rejoice and Be Glad". I colored the image with Copic Markers.

This little gem is going in the mail tomorrow for a sweet lady from my church who is turning 83 years young on July 27th.

Thanks for taking a look!

Have a good one!

Revolving Door

Since Remi has been here the kids have been taking turns spending the night. It works much better that way (much less fighting) and they get their personal one-on-one time with me and Granddad.

When one spends the night then it's "when is it my turn to spend the night?"

Korin had spent the night (June 27) as the rest of the family went to do something that Korin was too little to enjoy.

She went with me to the office the next day. I usually do my "core strengthening" exercises. She got down in the floor with me.

She insisted on having her picture made with this horse painting. She's holding the bear that was given to me as a gift from a friend many years ago. I was at the office when I received it and he stayed! He's part of our decor 😉

The next day (June 28th) Remi and Kennedy came to spend the night. They wanted to make cookies.

The best part of making cookies...is eating the dough 😊.

Instead of sleeping in the apartment I asked Doyle to blow up the air mattress. It was still in the floor later in the day. Guess Kaidence thought she got a new doggie bed 😃.

Have a good one!
