Kennedy's Surprise Birthday Party 12-29-2022

Vanessa wanted to give Kennedy a surprise birthday party the weekend of her birthday but the little sneak
was on to her so she called it off. Later she decided to go through with it but have it way later (while Remi was here) to throw her off. It worked. One of Vanessa's best friends has connections with the owner of the 940 Dance Hall and Vanessa was able to rent it out for Kennedy's party.

Below is a video of Kennedy's arrival.

Kashton watching the older kids play pool.

Do you notice that Kennedy is wearing "bell bottom" pants. They aren't called that now but I had those when I was 13!

Not a great picture but the best I could get.

Day After Christmas

Remi got caught up in the Southwest Airline debacle and her flight to Texas was canceled. Thankfully she has an Uncle who lives in Dallas who was with the family and able to bring Remi to Texas. She arrived 5 hours later than scheduled. So instead of arriving at 3 it was 8 but she is here!

Vanessa took these photos and here is her Facebook post:

It’s finally our Christmas Day! I’m always so proud of my kids for patiently waiting to have Christmas until their sister can be here and we are all together. It’s always harder when we have to wait a whole day after everyone else. But these last pictures are my tradition and my favorite. My tree lights are slowly giving up on me but we will deal with that next year. Merry Christmas!

This is the tree that my brother gave to Vanessa the year (2019) we went to Colorado to Worship on the Rocks. This is a Balsam Hill Tree but I think its about 15 years old. Part of the lights decided not to work and some of the limbs are losing their form.

So far they are still willing to let me take a picture before they open presents. Kennedy (13), Remi (14) Kashton (9) and Korin (8).

Close up!

Keannon got Vanessa a charm bracelet.

Keannon gave Vanessa Lasik surgery! As you can tell from her expression she was surprised! She has wanted to do it. Needless to say that was probably her best gift to receive!

It was a good Christmas for all of us!

Have a good one!

Christmas Day

This is the year we have Remi after Christmas so Christmas Day we exchanged our gifts with the kids at our house. Our church had services on Christmas Day but shorter than usual. We had the kids come over afterward. I fixed Breakfast for lunch....bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy!  There was not a thing left over! Then we commenced to opening gifts!

Mom was going to Wayne and Kelley's for Christmas Day so we let her open her gifts first.

Korin got a light-up scooter.

Kennedy and Kashton both wanted a black western hat. They are both dressing "western" these days.

As you can see Kennedy was excited!

Kashton was excited as well!

He's pretty happy with his new hat.

Keannon got a meat cleaver. He does a lot of grilling and had mentioned he needed one.

I have a calendar dry erase board that is ancient. The kids got me a new one!

Kennedy took this picture! In fact I think she took the rest of the photos I'm going to share.

I made Kashton a digital scrapbook. I ran out of time to make one for all the kids one for Christmas.

It is made with pictures that I took in 2022.

I got a digital photo frame. I got one last year for Christmas that I have at home but I wanted one at the office.

Doyle always looks forward to Christmas because between me and Vanessa he gets several new shirts.

I like my new t-shirt!

The kids got me a heated throw blanket. When it's cold outside, my legs always get cold when I'm sitting in the house or the office.

Another shirt.

The shirts I ordered Doyle didn't get here in time so I printed a picture and wrapped in a box. Genius huh?! 😉

We had a great Christmas and more the next day!

Have a good one!

Cold Snap 12-22-2022

Meteorologists had been predicting a cold snap right before Christmas about a week out. It did arrive on Thursday morning.

As you can see we had some weather alerts.

Wind Chill Advisory until noon on December 23rd with wind chills as low as -15 below!

Hard Freeze Warning until 9am December 23rd. Temps could get as low as 7 degrees

So our high for the day was 36 which was at 6:30 in the morning and by 3:47pm the temp had dropped to 14.

Friday morning I awoke to the temp of 9 degrees! It was sunny most of the day but the high only reached 23!

We slowly began to warm back up and by Christmas day the high was 53!

Have a good one!
