Kennedy Gets a Home Run 04-24-2018

Due to rain last weekend ball games were rescheduled. It just so happened that Kashton's baseball game and Kennedy's softball game were scheduled at the same time! The nice thing was the fields were back to back making it possible to watch both games! I managed to be watching at  just the right time to watch Kennedy make an infield home run!

Kashton's game was over before Kennedy's so we went to the field she was playing on where I had a better view.

Bike-a-thon 4-13-2018

Community Christian School's major fund raiser is "Bike-a-thon". The entire school meets at West City Park and the kids either ride or walk laps around the park. Some donors give a flat rate and some donate per lap.

Bike-a-thon was around when Vanessa was at Community Christian. In those days I worked full-time so I was never able to attend. Vanessa asked me if I would like to participate with the kids. Why not? I like to ride my bike.

Kashton and Korin at check-in before we start.

A sea of purple as all participates and volunteers wore the same shirt. The bikers were started with the oldest first staggering the starts with each group.

Mommy and Korin rode together.

Kashton was so excited he could hardly wait!

There two loops. One was about a half mile that was for the younger kids and then there was a loop that was about a mile for the older ones or those up for the challenge. The younger kids could ride the bigger loop as long as an adult was with them.

Kashton wanted to ride the bigger loop most of the time. He would ride for a while, then play for a while, then ride for a while.

Riding the bigger loop.

This struck me as funny. This is a bit of an incline. They all got off their bikes at the same time to walk up the hill. This is "bike-a-thon" not "walk-a-thon". I think this is the only time Kashton got off his bike and we rode bigger hills than this one!

At the end Kashton completed 24 laps! Kennedy did 23 and here's the miles my bike recorded!

Have a good one!

Baby Shower for Bekah and John 4-07-2018

Saturday April 7th was a baby shower for our niece Bekah. She got married almost 2 years ago this month. We learned at Thanksgiving they were expecting. We are so excited for her and John and also for Doris!

She is having a boy! Due in June.

The first thing we see walking in the door.

The home was beautiful and so were the decorations.

I was trying to get a picture of us. I couldn't get Korin to look up. we got tickled in the midst of it!

There was a wonderful spread of food!

Jungle animals were used in her decorations. I thought the napkins were so cute!

The banner hanging under the TV has pictures of Bekah and John when they were babies. Such a cute idea!

Cute diaper cake.

There was a great turnout and she got a lot of nice things a very few duplicates.

There were wonderful vanilla and chocolate cupcakes.

Korin couldn't wait to have one!

This is the card I made for Bekah and John. I did not know that jungle animals were being used when I made this!

It was a wonderful time.

Have a good one!

Dance Competition 4-7-2018

Kennedy has been doing dance since age 3. He loves it and is pretty good. She has done so well that her teacher has moved her up to a group that is 1 to 2 years older than her. Last fall her teacher ask Vanessa about letting Kennedy participate in dance competition.

Kennedy, Daysee and dance teacher LeAnn Davis. LeAnn has taught dance for 30 years. She is an amazing woman.

The dance competition was held on Sunday at the Hilton in Frisco. On Saturday my niece had a baby shower in Plano so I made arrangements to stay and spend the night with my sweet SIL Doris. Vanessa and family did too.

Vanessa, Korin and I went to the baby shower. Kennedy had dance rehearsal Saturday morning. Keannon brought her and Kashton over later.

Kennedy had to be at the hotel by 8:30AM but wasn't scheduled to dance until 9:30AM. I decided to go a little later with Doris.

No photos or videos were allowed during the competition so unfortunately I didn't get to take any pictures. The pictures I have I have I got from Miss LeAnn. I am thankful for that!

The girls danced to the Toby Mac song "Light Shine Bright". The girls did a great job and placed 2nd in their division!

Posing with their ribbons and trophies.

We all got a special surprise treat during the dance competition. Madame Suzelle Poole teaches dance at Royale Ballet Dance Academy in Dallas. She is 77 years "young" 😉. You can go here for a short video clip on her from Fox News. She was such an inspiration not only to the kids but the adults too!

It was a great time!

Have a good one!

Cards Made in March

I made this card for a friend from church who also loves horses. The sky and clouds background was created using a 6x6 background stamp by Impression Obsession called "Cover-a-card Clouds".

The image and sentiment is a Unity Stamp by artist Phyllis Harris called "And for a Moment".  I have made several card with this stamp so you have seen it before. I colored the image with Copic Markers and then cut out the image and gave it dimension with foam tape.

This card I made for a couple who celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Don't be too shocked but this image IS NOT a Unity stamp!😲

This image is from "Little Miss Muffett Rubber Stamps" called "The Stolen Kiss (Le Baiser Vole`)" This stamp is still available but has been placed on their "retiring" list.

I used Copic Markers to color the image. It doesn't show up in the photo but I added some clear Wink of Stella for some sparkle.

I used an embossing folder from Stampin Up for the decorative edge on the background.

This birthday card is for my Aunt Kay.

I used Unity's Kit of the Month December 2017 called "Start of Something New". The birthday cakes makes for a fun background for birthday cards. I chose to color some of the cakes for interest. The "happy birthday" sentiment was not in this kit.

I love how this card turned out. This is a birthday card I made for Leslie the daughter of my friend Teresa. When I saw this image it made me think of her as she wears her hair like this most of the time. The image is a Unity Stamp by artist Angie Blom called "Part of the Story"

The background was from an old Bazzill 6x6 paper pack. I don't remember the name of it. I colored the image with Copic Markers. I found a small sentiment stamp "For You" and stamped on the book.

I made this as a birthday card for a sweet lady in our church.

This stamp kit is Unity by artist Phyllis Harris called "Feathers, Wings & Refuge".

I made this card for a little boy in our church who just turned one!

This is a Unity Stamp by artist Tierra Jackson called Cuddlebug Puppy from Tierra's "Cuddlebug Line"

His mom was so sweet to send me these pictures of him with his card. His name is Joshua.

I made this as a birthday card for another dear lady in our church.

This stamp came from Unity's Kit of the Month March 2018 called "Stay Classy". Since this image was vintage I used some older Graphic 45 paper for the background. I stamped the image using Distress Ink Vintage Photo and also stamped the sentiment and inked the edges with the same ink.

Another birthday for a church member.

The background was made with an embossing folder then using a blending tool I inked with Distress Ink. The image is Unity by artist Angie Blom and part of the "AngieGirl Collection" called "Wakely Girl".

That was all the cards for the month of March!

Have a good one!

Korin's First Hair Cut 4-2-2018

Our long-time friend, Leslie, was Korin's beautician. She has done the hair for all of them and has done each of the grands "first" haircuts.

Korin had been bugging her mom to get her hair cut.

She is so excited!

Leslie asking Korin to put her head down so she can trim the back.

Mommy helping Korin keep her head down by pointing out the animals on her cape.

One happy customer!

Of her on accord she decided to sweep up her own hair!

If you want to visit back in time here is the link to the post for Kashton's first hair cut.

I was just beginning to make the transition to Blogger when Kennedy got her hair cut. I can't find that I blog about it.

Have a good one!

Grands and Bluebonnets 3-31-2018

I had made plans with Vanessa to get pictures of the kids in the Bluebonnets on Saturday 3-31.

I scoured the area looking for a decent stand of Bluebonnets. I wanted to get a picture while Remi was here. She was going home later this day so this was my last shot. It was still a bit early for most of the Bluebonnet areas I like to use but Vanessa told me about this one yard not far from their house. Just one more week there would be Bluebonnets in abundance!

Kashton had a baseball game at 10:30AM. For lighting purposes I wanted to get pictures in the Bluebonnets before the game but I knew that would be hard for Vanessa to get everyone ready so we had to do it after.

It was the worst time of day for lighting but I took what I could get!

I was granted permission by the man who lived there to take pictures as long as we didn't get in the yard. All the kids are squinting because the sun is so bright. Kashton is exceptionally sensitive. I managed some tolerable shots.

Papa Joe was there and taking pictures to so they were trying to figure out where to look!
 Kashton looks like he's in pain. I don't know what he's doing😖

Another picture in the books with my beloved Bluebonnets and Grands😤

Have a good one!
