Silent Night Finger Style 12-16

I have been taking guitar lessons for about a year.  I already knew how to play some chords but I wanted to learn some different strumming patterns and then my teacher taught me how to do some finger style playing.

I've been working on this song for months. My teacher suggested I be bold and post it on Facebook which I did on December 16th. I have a couple more that I can play but they aren't quite as smooth as this piece.

Merry Christmas

Making Christmas Cookies

Korin and Kennedy spent the night on Friday December 6th. We made the cookie dough Friday afternoon but rolled out the dough and baked the cookies the next day.

The cookie crew.

Korin took a picture of me with one of my creations.

The aftermath.

Our beautiful creations! The girls did a great job! Even if I had to decorate most of them.

Kennedy was the first to creatively use marshmallows on her cookies  then Korin did too!

Korin wanted me to do a video of her explaining about the cookies. I will transcribe what she says below the video as it is hard to understand what she says.

I made some of the cookies. Kennedy made some of the cookies and she put marshmallows in hers and Savtah made some cookies and we almost got all of them done and we only have (she counts) We have 11 cookies to make. Then after all that we're done! Then we're going to eat them! I put a marshmallow in mine. Bye! I need to go!

I let Korin help me with finishing putting the stickers on the storm door.

Have a good one!

Wedding at the Baker

Doyle and I were privileged to be invited to a small family and friends private wedding on the steps of the Baker Hotel on November 29th, the day after Thanksgiving.

The couple are new friends of ours by the name of Denise Duncan and Steve Cooper. Denise refers to him as "Mr. Cooper" and so does everyone else.

They had come to town to bid a job over a year ago and fell in love with our community. Earlier this year they purchased a historic, three story house that had unfortunately fallen into horrible condition and had been placed on the demolition list.

She operates a lighting business. He is in the tile business. They live in the Metroplex. It's a little over an hour's drive for them. We found out that they were staying in a hotel most of the time when they came out to work on the house. Doyle offered our guest house for them to stay when they were in town.

This is the house they bought. Most of the work has been done inside but they have done some on the outside.

Their story is they pledged their vows to one another 25 years ago on a beach (I don't remember where) but wanted to make it legal.

We felt privileged that they counted us among friends and invited us to their wedding.

The wedding was supposed to be on the steps but it was drizzly, misty rain so they had us come up under cover for the ceremony.

Here comes the bride.

Their daughter performed the ceremony.

Family photo.

Everyone who attended the wedding. You can click on the picture for a closer look. I'm wearing a red sweater and Doyle has on a felt cowboy hat and green coat.

Reception followed a few blocks away at Coffee and Cocktails.

beautiful bouquet.

A little bubbly!

It was a wonderful day celebrating some great people!

Have a good one!

Thanksgiving

On the Eve of Thanksgiving, Kashton spent the night. I let him help me put up the tree and decorate. He actually did a pretty good job.

Vanessa hosted Thanksgiving this year having both our family and Keannon's. She provided the turkey and ham with some other sides. Karen, Keannon's mom, brought her family's traditional sides. It was definitely a feast!

Ed and Karen are at the end of the table. See that gorgeous tree behind Ed? This is my brother's tree that he gave to Vanessa when we went to Colorado.

Behind the doors are Grammer and the kids.

They are watching TV while we are preparing lunch.

Too many in the kitchen! That's why I'm behind the camera 😉. Do you see the TV between Keannon and Vanessa? Football of course!

Keannon carving the turkey.

I failed in getting any "posed" pictures. It got crazy after we ate.

Have a good one!

A Day With Korin 11-1

Keannon, Vanessa and Kennedy went out of town for a family friend's memorial service. Kashton stayed with a friend and Korin stayed with us.

Mom (Grammer) brought Korin with her to the office to help me fold Sunday's bulletin.

After I was through at the office I needed to do some banking for the church. Korin waiting in line with me at the bank.

Then on our way home I decided to stop to get a picture at Poston's Square.

And we took a couple of selfies.

She went with me to do some grocery shopping at Walmart. After we finished I took her to the new Claire's store that opened recently inside Walmart. She had not been. She thought she was in heaven!

Of course it cost me to get out of the store but it was worth it to see her beaming from ear to ear!

Korin helped set the table for dinner. She was a very good helper!

She was one tired girl! She fell asleep in the chair. Granddad carried her to bed.

Have a good one!
