January 26, 2018

On this day I got to enjoy some of God's creations. The first being a woodpecker. I have learned to recognize their sound and I'm not talking about their pecking on wood. I managed to sneak a few pictures before I was noticed and he flew to another tree farther from me.

Then I got to witness a beautiful sunset. I was going to feed horses and decided to drive to the windmill for these pictures. It's the only windmill in town that I can easily access for these types of pictures.

This is what the sky looked like by the time I got to the horses even though it is only a 5 minute or less drive.

Zooming in just a bit fills up the picture with a little more color.

I'm not sure what it is but I just love to take a picture of the colorful sky through this tree. You can see this same tree in the photo above. I had changed locations and zoomed in just a bit more for this picture.

Have a good one.

Kennedy Rides Fancy 1-24-2018

We are having some mild days in the middle of our winter. Kennedy asked to go riding so we planned a day after school.

She and I have talked about letting her begin to ride Fancy. Kennedy is very comfortable with Clyde. Mr. Slow and Steady. However one day he will not be with us anymore. Fancy is a much younger horse and her movements are much quicker. Kennedy has seen Fancy jump sideways when I was riding her.

I told Kennedy we would start a little at a time as she was ready and we would begin in the round pen until she and I were both confident that she could control her.

I thought Kennedy did really well. She got a little nervous towards the end as you'll see because Fancy wouldn't stay stopped when Kennedy stopped her.

This was the day we bought Fancy December 2014. I thought it would be fun to compare the two.

Kennedy holding Diamond for me while I put Fancy in the round pen.

She loves Diamond (as do I). He is a really big horse!

Finally beginning our ride.

We had a good time!

Making Pancakes 1-20-2018

After Kennedy's basketball game we brought her and Korin home with us. Kennedy was spending the
night with us and Korin was going to spend the night with her friend who was coming by to pick her up. Before they came to get Korin, she and Kennedy helped me make pancakes for supper.

Korin wanted to taste the pancake batter.

Yummy 😋

Kennedy plays Basketball 1-20-2018

Kennedy is playing basketball with 3rd and 4th graders. They asked her to play. She is just as big as they are...at least most of them. She is still figuring out the game as you can tell (if you watch the video. My feelings won't be hurt if you don't.) It's kind of hard to watch when you know how to play the game and trying to remember they are just learning 😉 Kennedy's team is wearing gray and black uniforms. Her number is 20 which was the number her dad had when he played sports.

I got tickled at her a couple of times as she would forget that she didn't have to guard when her team had the ball!

Over here!

Tuxedo (Black and White) Card Challenge

There is a new challenge at Cards in Envy. This challenge theme is "Tuxedo (Black and White)". We are to make cards that fit into an envelope that are black and white.

I needed a card for an older boy in our church. He turned 12 on his birthday. I thought this little guy would work. Since it's winter time I decided to make the background with a snowflake embossing folder.

The images is a Unity Stamp designed by artist Tierra Jackson called Little by Little. The sentiment is from a Stampin Up set I believe.

I am pleased with the results.

Thanks for looking!

Birthday Cards for Church Family

This stamp set is called Cuddlebug Kitty by artist Tierra Jackson. Next to Phyllis Harris, she is becoming my next favorite artist.

I was very pleased with this card. I made this for a young woman who is now attending college away from home. I have watched her grow up! I used Eve Girl part of the "AngieGirl" Collection created by Angie Blom

Happy Snail Mail {May 2017 Sentiment Kit}
I love this set! I have already used this multiple times.

I love how this one turned out. I have several Tim Holtz's stamps that were in a binder I had kind of forgotten about. I looked through it and found this gem! The barb-wire is a stamp from a different company.

I finally went ahead and bought the boy stamp set. I found I was using this image to make cards for men more than women. This is called Strong & Courageous by Phyllis Harris

Another AngieGirl called Joy Girl. This stamp can be sued for Christmas, winter or birthday which is what I did here. The ornament has the word "joy" on it but I stamped the image again, cut it out and covered the ornament. I then stamped the words "for you". I think this sentiment is from a Stampin Up set but I'm not sure.

This card was for a little girl who is a year younger than Kennedy.

This is a Phyllis Harris design. The stamp set is called Simple Places.

Now this is interesting. The card above and this card were made for sister and brother. There is 3 years difference in their ages. The brother was born first on November 28 and his sister on November 29th.

This is another Tierra Jackson design called Cuddlebug Fox. The Cuddlebug Collection have a bunny, unicorn, cat, skunk, elephant, pig, porcupine, puppy and the fox. They are all adorable 😊

This stamp and sentiment came out of August  2017 Kit of the Month {Never Be Afraid}.

This is a Tierra Jackson design called "No One Sweeter". I couldn't find the link for this one 😒

This is a 5x7 card Doyle asked me to make to give to the retiring City Secretary. She is an avid animal lover. There were going to be several people sign it so it needed to be larger than the standard A2 size.

This stamp set is called Brandy & Emma: Friends Forever. It is by Phyllis Harris.

As you can see, I've been pretty busy! And this was in the midst of making Christmas cards too! Not sure how I did that!

Have a good one!

A Little Cold

It is winter time in Texas. At least the months on the calendar would say so. We have had some pretty mild weather then we were reminded it was indeed winter.

We had a cold snap (because it only lasted a few days). I took this picture January 3rd of ice on Fancy's whiskers.

She is so funny!

After I got to work. the business across the parking lot didn't turn off their sprinkler system and it was a pretty covering of ice on all their plants and half of their parking lot!

It definitely looked like a winter wonderland!

Kennedy came over on January 11th and we made cookies. I received a bag of Hershey Kisses from the place I buy office supplies for the church. It was there way of saying "thank you" for doing business with them. Kennedy saw the bag and noticed on the back there was a recipe for cookies using the kisses. She wanted to make them. Well okay! We will and we did! Don't they look yummy!

Have a good one!

2nd Entry for Winter Chills Card Challenge

I had recently made a New Year's card using a "winter" stamp so I thought I would put it in Cards in Envy Winter Chills Card challenge too. You are allowed to enter more than one but not more than three cards in a challenge.

I don't typically send New Year's cards but there was someone I wanted to send a Christmas card to and I realized I didn't have their address. They sent me a Christmas card but it arrived after Christmas. The sentiment and girl are from Unity's January 2017 KOTM.

The light blue is some scrap of older Little Yellow Bicycle 6x6 paper pad called "Winterings" I colored the girl with Copic Markers. I used a red pearl pen for the hearts and crystal Stickles for the snowflakes.

Thanks for taking a look!
