Birds and Sunsets

I have had several Western King birds in my pasture this year. I'm not sure what the draw was but it was fun watching them.

These pictures were taken July 10th.

We've also had some pretty sunsets. This was taken July 9th

Have a good one!

Keannon's Birthday 7-8-19

We celebrated Keannon's birthday at one of our favorite places. Taqueria La Estrella. They invited their new friends. They really enjoy spending time together. They have finally found a couple they can both be friends with and the kids get along as well. Win, win!

The evening was nice enough to eat on the patio.

Taqueria has live entertainment on the weekends but this was a Monday night.

Cousins.
Kennedy 9, Remi 10 and Krystal 10.

There was a lovely sunset to boot! Doyle is driving 😉

It was a fun evening celebrating Keannon!

4th of July

We went to the kids for a cookout on the 4th of July.  They invited some of their new friends from church.

I could resist taking this picture. Modern technology tends to get more of our faces than people. In all fairness they were not on the phones the whole time.

After dinner we went to the High school parking lot to watch the city fireworks display.

Took a selfie with these sweet ladies. The one in green attends church with me. She is our worship leader.

The blonde girl is the worship leader at the church Keannon and Vanessa attend. I'm old enough to be their mother!

I didn't think to take a picture when there was better light but I asked Kennedy and Remi for a picture in their 4th of July attire. I loved their pose but I could see their shirts.

So they gave me this pose!

We had a fun time with our friends.

Have a good one!

Meeting Kai 6-29-2019

Kai Atticus Slate is my great nephew born to my niece Addison February 5th of this year. Addison lives in Colorado so this was our first time to see him on June 29th. Destiny came with her

Grammer is proud of her great grandson!

Kennedy with Kai.

Remi with Kai

Playing with cousins.

We went to lunch at Pulidos. Of course Kai was the center of attention. Everyone wanted their turn at holding him. Vanessa was not at home when we gathered at her house. She met us at Pulidos.

Doyle is so good with kids.

Korin absolutely loves babies.

Even Kashton took a turn at holding Kai.

Getting a hug from Remi!

Kennedy has a knack with little ones too!

I finally get my turn 😊

Vanessa was having a little "baby fever" lately. She got her fix with Kai.

We had a great visit. After lunch Addison, Kai and Destiny left. Addison was going to attend her 10th high school reunion. I can't believe she's been out of high school that long!

Have a good one!

Historic Day 6-20-19

A day many of us thought would never come.

Hope arises that the Baker will live again.

An announcement was made on June 20th from a group of investors that the Baker Hotel purchase had been finalized and work would begin immediately!

Waiting for things to begin.

Lots of folks came to hear the announcement.

We are very excited about the future of the Baker Hotel.

Beautiful Mural 6-13

As our downtown is being revitalized there is an effort to organize local artists to paint murals on
many of the downtown buildings. A friend of my is one of those muralists. She is extremely talented and she loves horses like me! That's actually how we have gotten acquainted. Her name is Joelle Bolt.

Joelle has painted another mural before this one but this one is the largest and the best one as far as I am concerned. It is a depiction of the "Goodnight Loving Cattle Drive".

To enlarge these photos for a better look, just click on the photo.

Do you see the cowboy and the horse to the right? Doyle actually modeled for this scene.

The horse is Joelle's but it also looks like Clyde.

We invited Joelle and her husband Tracy to attend the rodeo one night with us. Afterward, as we were leaving the arena Joelle asked Doyle to kneel down in the dirt and act like he was drinking water from a stream. She said she needed a model for the mural she was working one.  He obliged but he wasn't sure how this was going to help her.

Here's a close up of that section of the mural. See the resemblance?! Incredible!

So know we have a very personal interest in the mural in more than one way!

In this view you can see the Baker Hotel in the background. Pretty cool huh?!

Have a good one!
