Lets Hear it for the Boys Card Challenge

The challenge this time at Cards in Envy is "Lets Hear it for the Boys". It can be any type of card, birthday, graduation, Father's Day but it needs to be masculine.

Here is my entry into the challenge.

I made this card for my Dad for Father's Day. The first I saw this image it immediately made me think of me and my dad. This image is a digital stamp created by one of my favorite artists Tierra Jackson.

I first became aware of her work through Unity Stamp Co. I then discovered she had a Facebook Page and learned of her Etsy store which you can look and purchase her art here.

I colored the image with Copic Markers. The sentiment came with the image. It was actually a little boy on the pony but with a Copic Marker I lengthened the hair 😉. Pretty creative huh?! I created this card in April and am so glad to finally be able to send it to Dad this week!

Thanks for taking a look!

Green Things Card Challenge

I made this card over the weekend for a lady in our church whose birthday is on St. Patrick's Day.

After I made the card I got an email from Cards In Envy about the current card challenge. Perfect timing.

The card challenge at Cards in Envy is "Green Things". Which means just what you think. A card that is mostly green!

I used three stamp sets to create this card.

The shamrock came from February 2018 KOTM called Being Who You Are. Using Distress Ink "Mowed Lawn" I stamped the shamrocks multiple times covering the card then blended the edges with the same ink.

The girl is from June 2017 KOTM called Time to Enjoy Life.
I used Copic Markers to color the image except for her dress which I paper pieced. I used foam tape to give her dimension

The sentiment is from Unity's July Sentiment Kit called "Hugs, Kisses and Birthday Wishes". I stamped it with "Mowed Lawn" then inked the edges of the sentiment and putting foam tape behind it to also give it dimension.

Thanks for looking.

Valentine Cards

I made Valentine cards but I didn't give any away 😞. I would have sent one to Remi but they were in the process of moving to Colorado and I didn't have an address for where they were living currently.

I'm still not too sure that I like this one but oh, well! I didn't mean for the ink to smear on the white hearts. I tried something I saw where you ink your embossing folder then run it through the sizzix. It may have been the type of ink I used. I don't know. I decided that I would make it work. It does kind of have a "distressed" look to it. The love banner is a unity stamp from February 2017 KOTM. It was all one piece and I cut out the letters and attached it to a piece of twine to make a banner.

This Valentine Card I made for a Unity card challenge. Which was to make a Valentine Card using only black and white. I am entering this into Cards in Envy "Give it Some Heart" card challenge. You may recognize a technique I used on the last post. It is called "Triple Stamping". It is so fun and makes pretty cards.  I do like how this card turned out.  I think I may go back and color in the bigger hearts. I haven't decided yet. The Biggest heat came for the same KOTM as above. The heart with words came from April 2017 KOTM. The tiny hearts came from the stamp set "Never Ending Love".

This was my first attempt at this card. I wasn't satisfied so I made another. The paper was cut crooked. I didn't like the way I stamped the border. The heart border was created using the stamp set mentioned above "Never Ending Love". The raccoons are a Phyllis Harris design called "Sweets for My Sweet".

Valentine's Day Doyle took me out for lunch. It was on Wednesday so we had church that evening. It was still a nice day!

Love You So Much: Card Challenge

Cards In Envy challenge is "Love You So Much".  The challenge is to make a "love" or "Valentine's"card.

This is my entry.

The image is Unity's December 2016 Kit of the Month called "Always Been You". This image may look familiar as I have stamped her up before. I colored with Copic Markers. I used two sentiments from the kit called "Never Ending Love" I stamped the "love" stamp using red ink. Then stamped over with a another sentiment in black.

Thanks for taking a look!

Tuxedo (Black and White) Card Challenge

There is a new challenge at Cards in Envy. This challenge theme is "Tuxedo (Black and White)". We are to make cards that fit into an envelope that are black and white.

I needed a card for an older boy in our church. He turned 12 on his birthday. I thought this little guy would work. Since it's winter time I decided to make the background with a snowflake embossing folder.

The images is a Unity Stamp designed by artist Tierra Jackson called Little by Little. The sentiment is from a Stampin Up set I believe.

I am pleased with the results.

Thanks for looking!

2nd Entry for Winter Chills Card Challenge

I had recently made a New Year's card using a "winter" stamp so I thought I would put it in Cards in Envy Winter Chills Card challenge too. You are allowed to enter more than one but not more than three cards in a challenge.

I don't typically send New Year's cards but there was someone I wanted to send a Christmas card to and I realized I didn't have their address. They sent me a Christmas card but it arrived after Christmas. The sentiment and girl are from Unity's January 2017 KOTM.

The light blue is some scrap of older Little Yellow Bicycle 6x6 paper pad called "Winterings" I colored the girl with Copic Markers. I used a red pearl pen for the hearts and crystal Stickles for the snowflakes.

Thanks for taking a look!

Typography Card Challenge

The challenge at Cards In Envy is "Typography" which means a card that has letters or words as the focus of the card.

Here is my card.

I used The Sounding Joy by Stampin Up. I heat embossed with white and used paper scraps from an old Bo Bunny Collection.

I was pleased how it turned out.

Thank you for taking a look!

Cheers to You Card Challenge

The current card challenge over at Cards in Envy is "Cheers to You". We are to create a card for any type of celebration whether birthday, graduation, retirement, anniversary. You get the idea.

I made a birthday card for a member of our church who also likes horses 😊.

I used a Unity Stamp by Phyllis Harris called "Felt with a the Heart". The sentiment is from Unity's sentiment kit called  "Hugs, Kisses & Birthday Wishes".

Thanks for taking a look!

White on White Card Challenge

The challenge over at Cards in Envy is "White on White". No color is to be used. Black can be used for the image and/or sentiment but everything else is to be white. This was not as hard as I first thought it would be.

I used an embossing folder to create the background. The butterflies are a Martha Stewart butterfly punch. Although it doesn't show in the photo, I applied clear Wink of Stella to give the butterflies some sparkle.  I stamped the sentiment (a Unity stamp) and punched with a Stampin Up scalloped oval. I did put foam tape behind the sentiment. I bent the wings of the butterflies just to add dimension. They will lay flat for mailing.

I am actually very pleased with how it turned out.

I used black paper for the background to create contrast  so you could see the details of the card.

Thanks for taking a look!

Favorite Color Combo {Anything Goes} Card Challenge

The challenge over at Cards in Envy this time is an easy one. Anything goes! I love these.

I made a birthday card for a friend who is a cowboy. I pulled out my western stamps and paper. The the image is an Impression Obscession called Cowboy Silhouette by artist DK Designs. The sentiment is from the same company and artist called "Ride Hard". On the inside of the card I stamped "Have a dazzling day. Happy birthday.

The papers I used were left-overs from some page layouts using an old Carta Bella western collection called "Giddy Up".

I stamped using Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. The accent paper behind the cowboy is the backside of the blue paisley paper. I really like how this turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! I hope I inspired you to create something 😉

Motherly Love Challenge #2

I decided with a little encouragement to enter another card in Cards in Envy "Motherly Love
Challenge".

This was pretty simple but I had fun making it. I began with inking a Medallion stamp from Unity Stamp Company's February Kit of the Month called "Unexpected Places" with VersaMark ink and using black embossing powder. I did the same with the sentiment which came from Stampin Up set "Wonderful Mother".

Next I picked two Distress Ink colors: a blue (Salty Ocean) and orange (Spiced Marmalade) and applied with a blending tool. I attached to a card base a wallah! Easy peasy!

Since I have recipients of  these cards that follow this blog I won't say whose getting what 😉.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Keep it Simple Card Challenge

The card challenge at Cards in Envy is "Keep it Simple." We are to make a card as simple as we can. Simpler than we usually do.

I think most of my cards are simple although occasionally I do one more complicated.

I was needing a card for a baby shower of a young couple from our church. The young woman grew up in our church.

This is the card I made for them.

I made the background using a Cover-a-Card stamp by Impression Obsessions called "Clouds" I used Distressed Ink Salty Ocean.

The airplane, banner and sentiment are Unity stamps from their KOTM (Kit of the Month) club October 2009. I stamped on design paper and cut out. The papers are scrap of a boy collection by Carta Bella, I believe.  I used foam tape to give the plane, banner and sentiment dimension. It is still flat enough to mail although I had delivered to the shower.

The couple's last name is "Self". That's why the banner says "Self Camp". The theme was outdoors, woodsy. It was really cute. They are sweet and we are looking forward to their little Joshua Michael coming the end of this month!

Red and Blue Card Challenge

The card challenge over at Cards in Envy is Read and Blue. I had some paper in mind I wanted to use from an old Authentique collection for this challenge.

You've seen this stamp set before as I used it on a tag recently. I decided to use it again because I like her and the paper has a western feel to me. This is from the  Angiegirl  collection from Unity Stamp Co. called "Harper Girl".

I chose to paper piece her which proved to be more difficult than I had anticipated but I like the results.  I did color her skin and the gun with my Copic Markers. The sentiment I stamped using Distress Ink Faded Jeans then stamped over with Versa Mark and heat embossed with clear powder. I then used foam tape on Harper Girl and the sentiment and finished it off with some twine.

Thanks for taking a look!

Pink and Gray Card Challenge

Cards in Envy card challenge is "Pink and Gray". I chose to use a new stamp I purchased from Unity.

You guys know my love of Unity Stamps more specifically the "Phyllis Harris" designs. Unity has a line of stamps called "Angie Girls" designed by Angie Blom. I am quickly falling for these too! This one is one of my favorites right now. It's called "Joy Girl". This stamp can be used for Christmas or winter. What I like most is the word "Joy" on the ornament she is holding. I have made some other cards with this same image. I'll blog about them in another post.

The background paper is from a Little Yellow Bicycle 6x6 pad called "Winterings".

I stamped the image with black memento ink then colored with my Copic Markers. I stamped the ornament again with Versa Mark ink then heat embossed with silver and cut out so I could but some foam tape under it to give it dimension.

For the snow I used Distress stickles Frosted Lace. I finished it off with a bit of ribbon.

Not sure what I will do with this one. Might just send it as a "thinking of you" card to surprise a friend with. Who knows....it might just be you 😊 with a little note of encouragement from me 😊.

Thanks for taking a look.

2nd Entry for Snow Birds Card Challenge

I got inspired after making my first entry and decided to make another card for the Cards in Envy Snow Birds Card Challenge.

I really like this stamp although I've not used it much. I bought it with a couple of friends in mind who are bird watchers that I would be making cards for. Besides these little guys just make me happy when I look at them!

The bird stamp is from Stampendous. The sentiment is from Unity.

I colored the birds and the tree with my Copic Markers. For the "snow" I used Frosted Lace Stickles.

Snow Birds Card Challenge

The first card challenge of the year over at Cards in Envy is "Snow Birds". The challenge is to make a card that features snow in some form and there must be at least one bird.

So here is my card for this challenge.

This stamp set came to mind when I saw the challenge. It is from Impression Obsession. For the background I took white card stock and used a snowflakes embossing folder. I decided to give it a little shimmer. I used a frost white paint I got a few years ago from Stampin' Up that I brushed over the embossed surface.

I stamped the snowman with Versa Mark ink then heat embossed with black embossing powder. I colored with my Copic Markers. The snowman's body I covered with Rock Candy Distressed Stickles. I fussy cut the image and then added foam tape for dimension.

I plan to send this card to my granddaughter Remi.

Thanks for taking a look.

Have a good one.

Just Pumpkins! Card Challenge

The card challenge over at Cards in Envy is "Just Pumpkins!

The pumpkins were made from a stamp. I'm don't know what company. I colored the pumpkins with my Copic Markers. Then I used a Pearl Pen to color the green leaves and added foam tap for dimension.

The papers were from a 6x6 Pad by Bo Bunny "Autumn Song Collection". For the final touch I used twine.

I made this a birthday card as my granddaughter Remi's birthday is the 15th. She will be 8! My it doesn't seem possible!

Thanks for taking a look.

Purple & Green Card Challenge

It has been too long since I have entered a Cards in Envy Challenge. Don't know exactly what
happened but time got away from me.

The challenge is to make a card using the colors purple and green. I had already made Remi's Halloween card and put it in the mail. (I'll share that another time.) I started thinking about what left over papers I had that would have those colors in it then I remembered some Graphic 45 scraps I had left from covering Korin's letters for her room.

This is what I came up with. I was very pleased with how it turned out. The sentiment is actually an epoxy sticker so I didn't even break out the stamps.

Thanks for taking a look!

Just Purple Card Challenge

The challenge at Cards in Envy is "Just Purple". We are to make a card that mostly showcases the color purple. This is the card I created.

I used WorldWind Doublemates cardstock. I used the light colored purple for the background and the other side I used a Tim Holtz butterfly border punch. I accented using a scrap piece of Graphic 45 paper. The sentiment is from a Phyllis Harris design by Unity stamp set. I stamped using Dusty Concord Distress Ink then double matted the sentiment and added a piece of ribbon.

I used foam tape under the butterflies to give some dimension to the card. I am very pleased with the end result! This card will probably go to Remi as I learned while she was here this time that one of her favorite colors is now "purple"! I made this card before I knew that!

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful Butterflies Challenge

Here I am again sneaking in under the wire to meet Cards in Envy Beautiful Butterflies Challenge. I have been rather busy but I needed a card for my granddaughter Remi who lives in California. I have been slack at getting anything sent to her and it's almost time for her to be here again! She likes butterflies so I thought this challenge to make that type of card was perfect for her.

This was so simple to make! I had some of this butterfly paper from when I covered wooden letters of Remi's name for her room.

I used yellow cardstock for the background. Then I fussy cut the glittery butterfly out of the design paper. I used liquid glue to attach the body of the butterfly then used foam tape to help pop the wings a bit for dimension. (It will still mail in an envelope!)  Then added the sentiment with double matting. Tada! I think the sentiment is from a set by Unity but I don't remember the name of it.

Hope you like it. Well it really only matters if Remi likes it and I think she will!

Have a good one!
