Still Making Cards for Family and Friends

In case you were wondering if I was too busy making cards to sell. The answer is no. At least not yet 😊. I am however keeping steady.

Here are the cards I made for the month of October for family and friends. I love this vintage gal and have used her numerous times...as you will see in a minute 😉

I made this for dear friends of mine celebrating their 40th anniversary. I don't know why but I had already chosen the colors when I found out that maroon was the color for a 40th wedding anniversary! I thought that was pretty cool. We held a surprise celebration (at least to the wife it was a surprise) at the church after services October 7th. It was a great time!

I have made so many cards now that it is getting hard to remember who I have given what card to! I think I made this one for my brother's girlfriend.

This was made for a young man at my church who is a bowler and very good! I didn't have any bowling stamps so I improvised, finding a picture on the internet that would work and stamped the sentiment. The inside reads "Hope it's a strike!"

This is for another person at my church. I got a little behind on cards during this time and this one ended up being late.

I made this one for my Dad's birthday.

I'm kind of proud of this one. I created the background using water colors. This card was made for a man at my church.

These next two cards I made for my sister-in-law and my step mom. I made them about the same time and I don't remember which card went to which person 😲

Kennedy was over not long ago and said that she had taken one of the cards I made her for her birthday for show and tell at school. One of her classmates asked her if I would make her birthday card. Kennedy told me she liked elephants so I created this for Kennedy to give to her.

In case you are wondering...Light in My Pathway is doing well. I have a separate blog for it and you can find it here if you would like to keep up! You can also access that blog through the website. Be sure to bookmark it for easy reference.

Have a good one!

On the Beach Card Challenge

Cards in Envy challenge is "On the Beach".

This is my entry using a Unity Stamp by artist Phyllis Harris called "Rejoice and Be Glad". I colored the image with Copic Markers.

This little gem is going in the mail tomorrow for a sweet lady from my church who is turning 83 years young on July 27th.

Thanks for taking a look!

Have a good one!

Cards Made in March

I made this card for a friend from church who also loves horses. The sky and clouds background was created using a 6x6 background stamp by Impression Obsession called "Cover-a-card Clouds".

The image and sentiment is a Unity Stamp by artist Phyllis Harris called "And for a Moment".  I have made several card with this stamp so you have seen it before. I colored the image with Copic Markers and then cut out the image and gave it dimension with foam tape.

This card I made for a couple who celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Don't be too shocked but this image IS NOT a Unity stamp!😲

This image is from "Little Miss Muffett Rubber Stamps" called "The Stolen Kiss (Le Baiser Vole`)" This stamp is still available but has been placed on their "retiring" list.

I used Copic Markers to color the image. It doesn't show up in the photo but I added some clear Wink of Stella for some sparkle.

I used an embossing folder from Stampin Up for the decorative edge on the background.

This birthday card is for my Aunt Kay.

I used Unity's Kit of the Month December 2017 called "Start of Something New". The birthday cakes makes for a fun background for birthday cards. I chose to color some of the cakes for interest. The "happy birthday" sentiment was not in this kit.

I love how this card turned out. This is a birthday card I made for Leslie the daughter of my friend Teresa. When I saw this image it made me think of her as she wears her hair like this most of the time. The image is a Unity Stamp by artist Angie Blom called "Part of the Story"

The background was from an old Bazzill 6x6 paper pack. I don't remember the name of it. I colored the image with Copic Markers. I found a small sentiment stamp "For You" and stamped on the book.

I made this as a birthday card for a sweet lady in our church.

This stamp kit is Unity by artist Phyllis Harris called "Feathers, Wings & Refuge".

I made this card for a little boy in our church who just turned one!

This is a Unity Stamp by artist Tierra Jackson called Cuddlebug Puppy from Tierra's "Cuddlebug Line"

His mom was so sweet to send me these pictures of him with his card. His name is Joshua.

I made this as a birthday card for another dear lady in our church.

This stamp came from Unity's Kit of the Month March 2018 called "Stay Classy". Since this image was vintage I used some older Graphic 45 paper for the background. I stamped the image using Distress Ink Vintage Photo and also stamped the sentiment and inked the edges with the same ink.

Another birthday for a church member.

The background was made with an embossing folder then using a blending tool I inked with Distress Ink. The image is Unity by artist Angie Blom and part of the "AngieGirl Collection" called "Wakely Girl".

That was all the cards for the month of March!

Have a good one!

Valentine Cards

I made Valentine cards but I didn't give any away 😞. I would have sent one to Remi but they were in the process of moving to Colorado and I didn't have an address for where they were living currently.

I'm still not too sure that I like this one but oh, well! I didn't mean for the ink to smear on the white hearts. I tried something I saw where you ink your embossing folder then run it through the sizzix. It may have been the type of ink I used. I don't know. I decided that I would make it work. It does kind of have a "distressed" look to it. The love banner is a unity stamp from February 2017 KOTM. It was all one piece and I cut out the letters and attached it to a piece of twine to make a banner.

This Valentine Card I made for a Unity card challenge. Which was to make a Valentine Card using only black and white. I am entering this into Cards in Envy "Give it Some Heart" card challenge. You may recognize a technique I used on the last post. It is called "Triple Stamping". It is so fun and makes pretty cards.  I do like how this card turned out.  I think I may go back and color in the bigger hearts. I haven't decided yet. The Biggest heat came for the same KOTM as above. The heart with words came from April 2017 KOTM. The tiny hearts came from the stamp set "Never Ending Love".

This was my first attempt at this card. I wasn't satisfied so I made another. The paper was cut crooked. I didn't like the way I stamped the border. The heart border was created using the stamp set mentioned above "Never Ending Love". The raccoons are a Phyllis Harris design called "Sweets for My Sweet".

Valentine's Day Doyle took me out for lunch. It was on Wednesday so we had church that evening. It was still a nice day!

Thanks for looking! Have a good one!

Another Round of Cards

I made this card for a young woman in our church. I used Lauren Girl which is from the AngieGirl Collection by Unity. I colored with Copic Markers.

This card was made using what is called "Triple Stamping". I learned this technique when I was making cards for Operation Write Home. Their website with tips and techniques are still up but the group is no longer operating. This is a great resource "how to's". I used two different medallion stamps from February 2017 KOTM.

I love how this card turned out. It was one of those "happy accidents". I was trying to stamp flowers with different distress inks. It didn't turn out the way I had hoped so I added more ink and did lots of blending! I colored the girl with Copic Markers then cut her out and added foam tape for dimension. The stamp set I used for this is "She Never Says Never". The words on the background are also part of this stamp set.

I made this card for one of my friends from church.
This is a Phyllis Harris design called "All Things New". I colored with Copic Markers. To give the appearance of "wet" I used glossy accents on the raindrops and puddle.

This is another Phyllis Harris design. I just love her little girl stamps. This is called "Sunny Days".

Thanks for looking!

Have a good one!

More Cards for Friends

I made this card for my Pastor's wife. I just love the sentiment. This is a Unity Stamp by artist Phyllis Harris called "Sense of Wonder". I've used this image many times so it may look familiar to you.

This is stamp is "Eve Girl" part of the AngieGirl collection by artist Angie Blom.
I've used this image before too! I love using this for winter birthdays.

I colored with Copic Markers. The snowflakes I used Stickles.

I made this card for the challenge on the Unity Show and Tell Facebook page. We were to use the colors red and turquoise.

This stamp is "Sheepishly Sweet" by artist Phyllis Harris.

I made this card for my dear friend Teresa. Although very simple I love how this one turned out. I stamped using Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. I heat embossed the sentiment and used a Prisma color pencil to color the butterfyl.

The stamp is from one of Unity's membership kits called "Uniquely Unity". The kit is called "Possibilities Await".

This is another stamp I have used numerous times. "Felt with the Heart" by artist Phyllis Harris. I sent this to a fellow horse loving friend who was going though some difficulties to let them know I was thinking of them.

This card I made for a friend who goes to my church. She loves teddy bears. This was the closet thing I had in a stamp to a teddy bear. It worked. She loved it 😉

This is "Bad Days Bearable" part of Unity's Itty Bitty Collection (these are just smaller stamp kits) by artist Joslyn Nielson. The sentiment is from a Stamp'in Up kit.

I've used this image several times as well. For this one I decided to separate the sentiment into. I colored with Copic Markers then used a Pearl Pen red for the hearts and Stickles for the snow.

I was needing a masculine card. I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder to make the trees. The stamp and sentiment are from the kit "Soul and Spirit"by artist Tierra Jackson. The Sentiment was in one stamp which was going to cover too much space so like the card before I cut the sentiment into pieces. The deer I stamped directly onto the background which is Kraft paper.

I wasn't sure if I really liked this card so I tried a different version of it below.

After doing this card I decided I like the first one better although I wasn't really crazy about either one. 😐

This one I cut out the deer and put foam tap under it to give it dimension.

This is a sympathy card I made for a scrapbooking friend of mine whose mother passed away. This stamp kit is called "Gray Skies Happy" by artist Phyllis Harris. I colored with Copic Markers. The picture doesn't show it very well but I used glossy accents on the raincoat, boots and water puddle.

I probably should have put this on a 5x7 card base so there would be more room. Oh well. I could have used a smaller sentiment too but I chose to go with this one which is what came with this girl. It is called "What Will Be" by artist Angie Blom. I colored with my Copic Markers. This card went to a young woman in my church.

Thanks for taking a look. 😊

Have a good one!

Cards for Various Occasions

I love how this card turned out. This is actually a 5x7. I used paper from and old Bo Bunny collection. The image is a Unity Stamp set by Phyllis Harris that I have used numerous times called Strong and Courageous. This is actually a girl but I needed a boy so I improvised. I think I did pretty good! I colored the image with Copic Markers. The sentiment I stamped on Vellum with Versamark ink and heat embossed. The sentiment came out of Unity's January 2017 Kit of the Month called "When You Smile".

The background on this card was done with an embossing bolder. The stamp is called Abundant Blessings. I colored the flowers with Copic Markers.

I made this card for Remi's birthday which was November 15th. She turned 9! I have used this stamp set multiple times. It is called Hugs, Kisses & Birthday Wishes. I colored the image with Copic Markers and cut out except around the strings. I heat embossed the sentiment with white powder. For a little fun I added googly eyes.

I am so pleased with how this card turned out. I sure wish I could find more of the vellum paper with the words on it. I bought it years ago at a Christian Book store called Mardels and used the very last scrap I had on this card but I think it was a perfect touch. This is the same lion as the stamp above. I just cut out the person.

Gearing Up for Christmas

It's not early in the world of handmade cards to make Christmas cards. In fact many who make Christmas cards have been doing so since summer but not me. Granted I should have started then but well....I just wasn't feeling it yet.

I actually started "feeling it" the month of October and made a few.

Getting a new Christmas stamp set also helped motivate me to begin the process. This image is a Unity's October 2017 Sentiment Kit cakked "Cheerful Prancing". I heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I heat embossed the sentiment on vellum. I really like how it turned out.

I liked this one too. I heat embossed with silver on this card.

I did this card the same as the one above only this image is a Phyllis Harris design called "Unto Us". I've made cards with this one before. It is a large stamp and covers nearly the entire card. (if you use the standard A2).

I need a LOT more!

Have a good one!

Cheers to You Card Challenge

The current card challenge over at Cards in Envy is "Cheers to You". We are to create a card for any type of celebration whether birthday, graduation, retirement, anniversary. You get the idea.

I made a birthday card for a member of our church who also likes horses 😊.

I used a Unity Stamp by Phyllis Harris called "Felt with a the Heart". The sentiment is from Unity's sentiment kit called  "Hugs, Kisses & Birthday Wishes".

Thanks for taking a look!

Have a good one!

More Birthday Cards

I think I have told you before that I decided early in the year to send handmade cards to my church family along with friends and family members.

I found that there are LOTS of September birthdays! Mother's being one of them! Her birthday is September 3rd.

This is the card I made her.

This card was so fun to make. The image is a Unity Stamp from their "Uniquely Unity" collection. I colored it with my Copic Markers then cut it out. I put foam tape behind it to give it dimension. The sentiment I stamped and cut into a banner. The background I made using Distress Inks Black Soot, Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean to create a night sky then spattered with Distress Stain Picket Fence and sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mist.

This card is for a family friend who attends church with me. He turned 37. I am very good friends with his mom. He was 10 when I started attending church there. He has long blonde hair. I've shared several cards I've made with this stamp. It is a Unity by Phyllis Harris called "Strong & Courage". My stamp is actually a girl but I think I successfully turned it into a young boy. You can get the "boy" version here. I colored the image using Prisma Colored pencils.

The background I created using an embossing folder. It's called basket weave but if you look close it looks like small crosses.

The sentiment I created using my friend Teresa's Alpha Stamps by Ken Oliver. The clip together. I thought that was cool. I may have to have these!

I made this card for a lady who runs a coffee business on our church property. I buy a coffee from her once a week. She has horses and shows them. Her family raises horses too. We have become friends. She has even helped me out a few times with my horses when I have had health questions. Her birthday is September 7th. I made this card for her. It is a Unity stamp by Phyllis Harris called "And For a Moment". This is a very large image and takes up most of the card space (which is a A2 - 4.25 x 5.5). I created the sky background using an Impressions Obsessions. I cut out the image and placed on the card. The sentiment is from another Phyllis Harris stamp set called "Felt With the Heart".

My Uncle Philip's birthday is September 9th. I haven't sent him a card in years but decided to this year. This may seem a bit girly to give to a man but this image reminds me of when I was a little girl except I never worn a dress when I was around horses. Heck I didn't wear a dress unless my mom made me! So I thought it worked to give to him. This is a new release from Unity by Phyllis Harris called "Simple Places".

There will be more cards to come. Vanessa and Korin's birthdays are this month and so is Doyle and my anniversary!

Have a good one!
