Still Making Cards for Family and Friends

In case you were wondering if I was too busy making cards to sell. The answer is no. At least not yet 😊. I am however keeping steady.

Here are the cards I made for the month of October for family and friends. I love this vintage gal and have used her numerous times...as you will see in a minute 😉

I made this for dear friends of mine celebrating their 40th anniversary. I don't know why but I had already chosen the colors when I found out that maroon was the color for a 40th wedding anniversary! I thought that was pretty cool. We held a surprise celebration (at least to the wife it was a surprise) at the church after services October 7th. It was a great time!

I have made so many cards now that it is getting hard to remember who I have given what card to! I think I made this one for my brother's girlfriend.

This was made for a young man at my church who is a bowler and very good! I didn't have any bowling stamps so I improvised, finding a picture on the internet that would work and stamped the sentiment. The inside reads "Hope it's a strike!"

This is for another person at my church. I got a little behind on cards during this time and this one ended up being late.

I made this one for my Dad's birthday.

I'm kind of proud of this one. I created the background using water colors. This card was made for a man at my church.

These next two cards I made for my sister-in-law and my step mom. I made them about the same time and I don't remember which card went to which person 😲

Kennedy was over not long ago and said that she had taken one of the cards I made her for her birthday for show and tell at school. One of her classmates asked her if I would make her birthday card. Kennedy told me she liked elephants so I created this for Kennedy to give to her.

In case you are wondering...Light in My Pathway is doing well. I have a separate blog for it and you can find it here if you would like to keep up! You can also access that blog through the website. Be sure to bookmark it for easy reference.

Have a good one!

Cards Made in April

I made 16 cards the Month of April. Two of those were posted in other blogs. One was the Cards in Envy card challenge and the other was a card for my niece's baby shower.

I have made cards with this image before so that would be why it looks familiar.

I wasn't pleased when I finished with this one. I had colored the image then used glue to add some Flowersoft Polar white for the snow. I wish now I had finished cutting the rest of the girl out and added that to the base paper. Oh, well, I'll know better next time. I made this card for Remi. She had seen another card I had made with this image and wanted me to make her one because she lives in Colorado now and they have snow!

I made this one by using a music embossing folder and inking with Distress Ink Vintage Photo. The sentiment is from a Unity kit called
Cuppa Comfort {August 2017 Sentiment Kit}. This is a great kit!

I made this for a boy in my church for his birthday. This image and sentiment is Cuddlebug Fox designed by artist Tierra Jackson from Unity Stamp Company. I have used this image before. The background is old My Mind's Eye Kraft.

On this card I used an embossing folder to create the border. Next I used Distress Oxide Inks and blended over the background. The image is from Unity's March 2018 Kit of the Month called "Stay Classy"

I made this card for a friend. I have used this stamp set to make several cards. It is called She Never Says Never Unity's June 2017 Sentiment Kit.

To create the background I heat embossed the flowers which is a retired Donna Downey Peony Stamp. I then blended Distress Inks Broken China and Fossilized Amber. The words on the background are part of this stamp set. It measures 1.75 X 4.5 and says "She believed with all her heart she could so she did. There is a light in her heart and determination in her eyes. She is full of strength, love and gratitude for this life. She believed, so she did."  Each statement is an individual sentiment. I colored the girl with Copic Markers and cut out. I cut out the sentiment as well and put foam tape behind both.

I made this card for a young teenage boy. The background I made with an Impression Obscession Cover-a-Card Clouds. The airplane and sentiment are from Unity stamp kit "For the Guys". I stamped the same image three times on the card. Then I stamped once more and cut it out and placed in the center of the card.

This is an anniversary card I created for my niece. The image and sentiment are from Unity's stamp kit "Here's to You"by artist Angie Blom.

This card was for a man in our church. This is a Unity Stamp by artist Tierra Jackson. She is quickly becoming a favorite of mine!It is called "Slowly Turning Classic". It's pretty faint but I used a stamp on the background from a stamp kit called "Hello Beautiful" then blended with Distress Inks. I colored the truck with Copic Markers. I used glossy accents on the headlights and windshield.

I made this for the wife of the man above. She is bird watcher. She and her husband have birthdays two weeks apart! Her birthday was on the 12th and his on the 25th.

I used Distress Oxide Inks to create the background. The stamp and sentiment are Unity called "No One Sweeter" I colored with Copic Markers.

This was created for a girl in my church. The stamp set is "Little by Little" from Unity by artist Tierra Jackson.

I colored with Copic Markers and stamped "for you" inside the balloon. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

I created this for another child in our church. This stamp set is Unity. I colored with Copic Markers and added googly eyes. I don't think this stamp is sold any longer as I cannot find a link for it.

Thank you for taking a look.

Have a good one!

Valentine Cards

I made Valentine cards but I didn't give any away 😞. I would have sent one to Remi but they were in the process of moving to Colorado and I didn't have an address for where they were living currently.

I'm still not too sure that I like this one but oh, well! I didn't mean for the ink to smear on the white hearts. I tried something I saw where you ink your embossing folder then run it through the sizzix. It may have been the type of ink I used. I don't know. I decided that I would make it work. It does kind of have a "distressed" look to it. The love banner is a unity stamp from February 2017 KOTM. It was all one piece and I cut out the letters and attached it to a piece of twine to make a banner.

This Valentine Card I made for a Unity card challenge. Which was to make a Valentine Card using only black and white. I am entering this into Cards in Envy "Give it Some Heart" card challenge. You may recognize a technique I used on the last post. It is called "Triple Stamping". It is so fun and makes pretty cards.  I do like how this card turned out.  I think I may go back and color in the bigger hearts. I haven't decided yet. The Biggest heat came for the same KOTM as above. The heart with words came from April 2017 KOTM. The tiny hearts came from the stamp set "Never Ending Love".

This was my first attempt at this card. I wasn't satisfied so I made another. The paper was cut crooked. I didn't like the way I stamped the border. The heart border was created using the stamp set mentioned above "Never Ending Love". The raccoons are a Phyllis Harris design called "Sweets for My Sweet".

Valentine's Day Doyle took me out for lunch. It was on Wednesday so we had church that evening. It was still a nice day!

Thanks for looking! Have a good one!

Another Round of Cards

I made this card for a young woman in our church. I used Lauren Girl which is from the AngieGirl Collection by Unity. I colored with Copic Markers.

This card was made using what is called "Triple Stamping". I learned this technique when I was making cards for Operation Write Home. Their website with tips and techniques are still up but the group is no longer operating. This is a great resource "how to's". I used two different medallion stamps from February 2017 KOTM.

I love how this card turned out. It was one of those "happy accidents". I was trying to stamp flowers with different distress inks. It didn't turn out the way I had hoped so I added more ink and did lots of blending! I colored the girl with Copic Markers then cut her out and added foam tape for dimension. The stamp set I used for this is "She Never Says Never". The words on the background are also part of this stamp set.

I made this card for one of my friends from church.
This is a Phyllis Harris design called "All Things New". I colored with Copic Markers. To give the appearance of "wet" I used glossy accents on the raindrops and puddle.

This is another Phyllis Harris design. I just love her little girl stamps. This is called "Sunny Days".

Thanks for looking!

Have a good one!

Love You So Much: Card Challenge

Cards In Envy challenge is "Love You So Much".  The challenge is to make a "love" or "Valentine's"card.

This is my entry.

The image is Unity's December 2016 Kit of the Month called "Always Been You". This image may look familiar as I have stamped her up before. I colored with Copic Markers. I used two sentiments from the kit called "Never Ending Love" I stamped the "love" stamp using red ink. Then stamped over with a another sentiment in black.

Thanks for taking a look!

Have a good one!

2nd Entry for Winter Chills Card Challenge

I had recently made a New Year's card using a "winter" stamp so I thought I would put it in Cards in Envy Winter Chills Card challenge too. You are allowed to enter more than one but not more than three cards in a challenge.

I don't typically send New Year's cards but there was someone I wanted to send a Christmas card to and I realized I didn't have their address. They sent me a Christmas card but it arrived after Christmas. The sentiment and girl are from Unity's January 2017 KOTM.

The light blue is some scrap of older Little Yellow Bicycle 6x6 paper pad called "Winterings" I colored the girl with Copic Markers. I used a red pearl pen for the hearts and crystal Stickles for the snowflakes.

Thanks for taking a look!

Have a good one!

More Birthday Cards

I had fun making this birthday card for a lady in our church.

I created the background using water color paper, Distress Oxide Inks and water. I took several different inks and smudged on a non-stick craft map. I spritzed with water. I used a stamp from Unity's August 2017 KOTM "Never Be Afraid". I used two different leaf stamps. I stamped in the ink that was spritzed with water and stamped onto the water color paper. One leaf I stamped, heat embossed and cut out to add foam tape to bring dimension. I really love how it turned out! Better yet, so did the recipient! She loved it so much she shared it on her Instagram account! I count that a success!

I made this card for a boy in our church who just turned 13.

I loved the paper which I used for the background and I love the stamp set! It is Unity's July 2017 Sentiment Kit called "Hugs, Kisses & Birthday Wishes". I think I've shared this one before. I love this kit and have used the sentiments multiple times already!

I colored the image with Copic markers and cut out the image. For a little more "pop" I put glossy accents on the balloons. I also added "googly eyes" to the owl. I added foam tape to give the owl some dimension. I liked how this turned out so well that I made another just like it!

I made this card for a little girl in our church who just turned 4. In fact, she and Kashton are in the same class at school. I have blogged about this stamp set before. I love it! A Unity Stamp called Finally Here by artist Tierra Jackson.

I was so excited to break this stamp out. I made this card for a lady from my church using Unity's June 2017 Sentiment Kit called "She Never Says Never". I used a background stamp from this set to create the background using Distress Ink Tea Dye. Using my Misti I stamped it multiple times to cover the card. I colored the girl with Copic markers and cut out. I also cut out the sentiment and used foam tape to make it stand out just a bit.

Do you see what appears to be some black marks above the girl's head? I dropped my ink pad!! I decided to send it anyway.

I posted it on Instagram with the caption "Perfectly Imperfect. It wouldn't be handmade if it was perfect". For me to do that is really a big accomplishm😉ent in conquering my perfectionism! Yeah me 😊

This card is for a man at church. This image is a Stampin Up! You're shocked right?! 😊 The sentiment is Unity though.

It sure is a good thing our church isn't very big. There are 15 September birthdays! Not counting some family and friend birthdays. I think I've made 20 cards for September alone!

Have a good one!

More Crafting

I'm rather proud of this one. This is a new release from Unity by Phyllis Harris called "Realize". I water colored this image.Water color is not something I've done much of  and need some more practice but it is fun!

For this card I used a Unity stamp called "Bunny-Keep You Forever". This is a great kit as it is a "sentiment" kit and is loaded with sentiments for all occasions.

The background I created using an embossing folder I got as a bonus from ordering from Crafter's Companion. I used white paper then after I embossed I went over the lettering with black ink. I colored parts of the bunny with Copic Markers and cut him out and using foam tap to put him on the card.

I just love this little bird! It's called "Do Your Thing Birdie" by Unity.

I made this card for a little girl from our church. I love this stamp set called "Happiness is..." a Unity stamp by artist Phyllis Harris.

I created the clouds using a background stamp from Impression Obscession called "Clouds". The tree limb is from a Tim Holtz die cut called "Holly Branch".

I love this stamp set by Unity called  "Adore in Every Way by artist Tierra Jackson. This sentiment is in this set. I water colored this. I didn't do very good on the "sky". I was pretty happy with the rest of it.

I really like how this card turned out. I used the new Distress Oxide inks for this one. The dragonfly and the sentiment came from January 2017 Kit of the month called "When You Smile"

I had this rose colored for some time and finally put it on a card. I used Twinkling H20's to water color. I cut it out and used foam tape.

The rose is from Unity's December 2016 KOTM called "Always Been You". The sentiment comes from stamp set "Spring to Go"

That's all for now.

Have a good one!

On a Crafting Roll Part 2

As promised here is part two of what I've been creating of late.

All the cards and tags in this post were inspired after watching a Unity video called "Vellum + Washi Cards".

The yellow background was created using Distress Ink Mustard Seed.
The butterfly is from April KOTM called "Be My Bird". I heat embossed with black powder on vellum.

The sentiment I heat embossed with black powder onto kraft paper then added bling.

I really like how this card turned out. I had some wide washi tape that I bought that is from Illustrated Faith. I then heat embossed with white powder, Anna Girl, a Unity stamp designed by Angie Blom. Then finished off with a little bling.

This tag and the following tags were inspired by watching this Unity video called "Cute Tag Projects with Ang and Whit".

The Kraft tag I made out of kraft paper by My Mind's Eye which gives it a faint design in the background.

I used a Unity stamp set "Butterfly Endearment".

I love how this one turned out. Probably because I'm partial to this stamp. I may just keep it for me! It is a Unity Stamp by artist Phyllis Harris called "Listen from the Heart".

This tag I also made out of a My Mind's Eye paper collection as you can see lettering on the tag background.

I made a heart stencil with a punch and applied Distress Ink Festive Berries. I heat set it then I stamped the girl and horse and heat embossed it using black powder. I stamped the sentiment on vellum and heat embossed with black powder and cut into a banner. I put it through my Xyron to attach to the tag.

I used Distress Inks to create this background. I stamped the girl and paper pieced her dress except for the ribbon which I colored. I used color pencils for the rest. I just love this girl. She is also a Unity stamp by artist Phyllis Harris called "Face the Sun".

Of this series of tags this one is my least favorite only because the image is too faint for me. I wish that I had heat embossed it to make it brighter. I think I would have liked it better.

At the top of the tag is washi tape from Illustrated Faith. I cut the end of it into a banner. This girl is called "God's Sight" by artist Angie Blom and part of the AngieGirl collection.

I really like this tag too! This is a Unity stamp by artist Phyllis Harris called "First Love". I stamped the image with Brown Staz-on and heat embossed with clear powder. I used a piece of design paper from my left overs. The sentiment I stamped on Kraft with the same ink and heat embossed. I punched a hole in the end through the paw print and tied to the tag.

Ok, I'll give you guys a break from my crafting for a bit 😉.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Have a good one!
