Blowing in the Wind Card Challenge

I just discovered I missed the last challenge (ugh) and it was pretty easy. The challenges run for 2 weeks and I still seem to miss them!

Back to the current challenge at Cards in Envy which is "Blowing in the Wind". Make an Autumn card with falling leaves.

Here is my entry.

For the background I used watercolor paper. I took Distress Oxide inks Cracked Pistachio, Spiced Marmalade and Broken China and spread on a non-stick craft mat and spritzed with water. I then randomly put the paper down in the inks. Once the paper was covered I used a heat gun to set it. Next I took a leaf stamp out of Unity's August KOTM. I used Distress Oxide Ink "Peeled Paint" and randomly stamp the leaf covering the paper.

The tree stamp and sentiment came from September's KOTM. I used Copic Markers to color the image and cut out. I added some glossy accents to the stars and foam tape to the back of the image for dimension. The sentiment I stamped and heat embossed. I really like how this card turned out. I don't have anyone in mind to give it to yet.

Dinner Conversation with Kashton 10-2-2017

On Monday night October 2nd, Vanessa asked if I would mind cooking them dinner.

Korin actually asked "I want to help you". Wish you could hear how she says it. Anyway, Kashton was doing something else and Kennedy was working on homework so I told her she could help me.

I was making spaghetti so there wasn't much to cook that she could help with. I did let her put the bread on the pan.

She was pretty proud of herself.















Then I let her stir the spaghetti sauce. She really did think she was something doing that!

















Then to give you a good laugh just listen to our after dinner conversation with Kashton. The first part he's rehearsing what he's learned in school but after I'm not sure what he's talking about 😖.

Dragonfly Cards

I had embossed a couple of papers using an embossing folder and set them aside. I finally decided I needed to do something with them. I remembered that I had a dragonfly stamp I thought that would work good on these backgrounds.

I stamped and cut out the dragon fly, I then put score tap (double sided tape) on the dragonfly's tail, wings and heart and burnished it with micro-beads. I used foam tap to give the dragonfly dimension. I colored the rest of the dragonfly with Copic Markers.

The dragonfly is from Unity's January 2017 Kit of the Month.

I wished I had taken another picture before I mailed it. This picture doesn't do the card justice. I made this for my brother whose birthday is October 5th.

I decided to reverse the color and used some pink to make this one a little more feminine.

I decided the cattails might show up better if I partially cut away some of the paper. I do like it better but not sure if I'm really pleased with the background. I am pleased however with the dragonfly! Once again I used score tape on the wings to adhere glittery micro-beads. I used my Copic Markers on the rest of the butterfly and the small heart its holding. I used foam tape under the dragonfly and the sentiment.

These were fun to create but a little more time consuming.

Riding With Kennedy 10-1-2017

Kennedy spent the night after Korin's birthday party. I was looking in her overnight bag and saw she
had boots. I asked why she had boots and her response was "I thought we might ride horses tomorrow so I wanted to be prepared. That is if you want to." Are you kidding me?! "If I want to?!" Of course I want to!

Vanessa forgot about a birthday party that Kennedy was invited to so after lunch she went to that but came back after the party.

Kennedy announced she wanted to ride at the State Park. I am always game to go there.

Here we are getting started.

Kennedy wanted to stop and rest her legs for a bit.

She has learned how to blow bubbles with her gum without taking it out of her mouth. She's pretty proud of herself!

We didn't have enough daylight to ride the whole trail. We did manage to go half way. Kennedy did really good. I did have a lead rope on Diamond (for safety) but Kennedy had reins and controlled him for the most part.

I heard them but Kennedy saw some deer while we rode. We both saw deer as we left the park.

Korin's Birthday

Korin Faith turned three years old on Tuesday September 26th. Vanessa held her party to celebrate
her birthday on Saturday September 30th.

The party was held at their home. It was a Mickey Mouse theme complete with a bounce house.

Kennedy (7 years and 9 months)
Kashton (4 years and 6 months)
Korin (3 years and 4 days😉 )

I should have used a flash on this one. The light coming through the windows made it look dark. I had a hard time getting this angle with all the kids running around. I got what I could when I could!

The cake was wonderful! The top layer was vanilla and the bottom red velvet.

Vanessa had asks that she not get anymore babies but I couldn't resist this one. It has her name on it. I think she liked it!

















This is what it looks like.

Her gift from Mommy and Daddy is a bike that you helps kids learn to ride a bike without training wheels. You use your meet to make it go. It's a pretty interesting concept and I have seen other kids ride them at some of the ballgames we've attended. People claim when kids master balance they can go straight to a bike without training wheels. Vanessa says that Korin pushes Kashton's old bike with training wheels now but isn't big enough to ride it. I'll be curious to see if she adapts.

It was a great party with wonderful weather and a good turnout.

Surprise 09-29-2017

Some of Vanessa's friends wanted to do a surprise birthday gathering at The Hole-in-the-Wall Grill & Bier Garten on Friday night September 29th.

We were invited 😉. I wish there weren't power lines. This would be a much prettier picture with the Baker in the background.




Keannon made arrangements for the kids and this time it wasn't Grammer! He just told Vanessa he was taking her out. She thought they were going to Fort Worth but he told her "I thought we'd stay in town". I think she was a little disappointed at first until she arrived.

Running in the Rose Garden9-25-2017

Vanessa said that Kashton had been asking about spending the night. So we came up with him coming over after school Monday 9-25-2017.

This just cracked me up. Gracie was already in this chair but Kashton wanted to sit there too. It's tough doing life with a big dog 😉














He had asked about riding bikes  to the "duck pond" so I picked up his bike when I got him. The "duck pond" is the cemetery just about a mile from the house.

I thought Kashton was chasing the ducks but he was actually trying to "catch" them as you can tell by his hands!

I tried to tell him the ducks were afraid of him. He said "I'm not going to hurt them." I said "I know you won't but they don't know that!"
