Spring Break Staycation - Jail Museum 3-16-18

This was brilliant! Our local Chamber of Commerce hosted a Spring Break Staycation from 9AM-5PM covering several locations of things to do in our community.

We visited the Palo Pinto Jail Museum, Fossil Park, lunch at the Bistro, Famous Water Company, Vietnam War Museum, Clark Gardens and Lake Mineral Wells State Park.

Since the kids didn't go anywhere I thought it would be fun to take them on this.

I will break this up in several posts since I have so many pictures. Our first stop was the Palo Pinto Jail Museum.

Yes, there is an extra kid. Kashton had a friend over. His name is Zadok.

Kids checking out the antique jail cell.

Our tour guide was explaining to Kashton how to grind grain with the rock he is holding.

This is inside one of the original structures. decorated as it might have been back in the day.

I wish you could have heard the kids when Vanessa told them what that chair was for 😄

Kennedy's express is priceless after our guide told her if she had lived back then she would be churning butter for hours 😃

We are now in the actual old Jail building that holds lots of old artifacts and documents of history.

Kashton and his buddy Zadok in the upstairs of the old Jail.

Although not the original noose, this is where the noose was for hanging. Vanessa is standing at the edge of the trap door.

Lots of cool stuff on the second floor of the Jail.

It's mind boggling to me that the kids didn't know what these old telephones were. I have a picture of Vanessa when she was about Korin's age with one. At that time we actually used them!

From the Jail Museum we went to the Fossil Park. This is the only place I had not been. I'll cover the Fossil Park in another blog.

Have a good one.

  1. I have visited that museum. An interesting little place. Sounds like you all covered a lot in one day!
