Celebrating Vanessa

Vanessa's birthday was Tuesday September 25th. She wanted to celebrate by having dinner in
Arlington at a place next the the Ballpark complex.

There was going to be a Pat Green concert there. When Vanessa was 16 she and Doyle both were Pat Green fans. He took her to a concert in Wichita Falls to see him.

Two other couples joined us for the evening.

The opening music was by Cory Morrow a friend of Pat Greens since his college days. He was really good.

Girls visiting waiting for the appearance of Pat Green.

Pat Green brings is buddy Cory back out.

Not sure how Vanessa knew but she suspected this lady a couple of tables up from us was Pat Green's wife. Vanessa went up and asked her. Sure enough she was right.

Of course no concert is complete without getting a picture with the one you are a fan of 😉.

It was a great evening.

Have a good one!

Not Too Busy

I'm not too busy yet to have a little fun and try to keep family and friends updated with what is going on in my life....my adventures 😉

It is a bit challenging to keep up two blogs. For now I want to keep them separate but we'll see how that works out!

This is what my desk looks like most days at some point. Cards in progress, Bible and my Kahuna coffee 😉.

Since my last blog post I participated in a craft fair in Weatherford, Saturday September 22nd. I blogged about that thru my other blog Light in My Pathway. If you are interested in reading it you can find that blog here.

You will remember I mentioned my barn cat was pregnant. She was really getting big and I knew the time was near. Well, she didn't show up to the barn Thursday morning September 27th. In fact, I didn't see her all day.

The next day, she came running to the barn skinny! Yep, there are babies somewhere. I have a general idea where they are. She came running from the old dilapidated garage. When she's ready she will probably show me where they are.

Girly, the chicken is a regular at the barn. She has gotten so comfortable there that she has started laying eggs in the loose hay!

I told the people who own the chicken they could come collect their eggs.

They are working on building Girly a chicken coop but for now she resides in my barn.

The morning of September 24th. I was greeted by this bull calf. I tried to get a picture before he turned around. He was facing me but when I came near the gate he decided it was time to leave. There isn't supposed to be any livestock in this pasture. He escaped from somewhere!

I'm seeing more and more spiders. I'm finding webs everywhere. This one built its nest between the barn wall and the horses' salt block. Rather precarious place.

The morning of September 28th I saw this guy. You'll have to click on the picture to see detail but there were droplets of water on the web.

I thought he was building the web but I discovered when I got back to my truck to leave that he was actually taking it down because there was no evidence that a web was even there! 😲

I just love how the light shines on the "pathway".

Have a good one!

Enjoying the Simple Things

I found this moth in the hay barn September 2nd.

On September 8th, I drove to the courthouse to file for my "Assumed Name Record" for my card business. While there I noticed these butterflies. After taking care of my business I grabbed my camera to take pictures before heading home.

I noticed this one butterfly that looked strange. It didn't move. Upon closer inspection I realized the butterfly was dead and then I saw why.

I hate that the butterfly was dead but this was pretty cool to witness. I've not seen a spider like this before.

I ended the day with a colorful sky.

September 13th wasn't colorful but just as unique.

September 14th I got to see a partial rainbow!

September 17th I went to buy farm fresh eggs.

I just thought this was pretty with the sky and sunflowers.

Another beautiful end to the day.

September 21st, it's the time of year for spiders to come out! I found this one right by the salt block the horses lick!

Kennedy and Korin wanted to go to church with me so they helped me feed on our way.

For the first time Korin told me she wanted to ride a horse! Guess I will be taking her pretty soon!😉

Have a good one!

Up to my Elbows

I'm sorry that I've been absent. I've been up to my elbows in card making. Not only am I trying to continue sending cards to family and those in my church but making sure I have enough cards for The Market at 76067 that is opening October 2nd. And to add a bit more pressure to myself I entered a Craft Fair Saturday September 22nd. Then of course Christmas is less than 3 months away 😲.

However in the midst of card making....life goes on.

You may remember me telling you I acquired a barn cat. You can read that post here. She was the cat that was left behind at the house where the horses are. The new owners were more than willing to take her in but she has seemingly adopted me. There little girl has named her "Lovey"

She meets me every morning and evening when I come to feed. I give her food then go feed the horses. Before I can get back to the other barn to put out hay she comes down where I am as you see here.

Lovey is pregnant again. I believe the father is the black cat that is in the background of this photo lying on pallets. He is wild and won't let anyone get very close.

I zoomed in as not to scare him off. I call him "Coal" since he is so black. He is a big cat.

See how her sides are sticking out! I'm curious to know where she will have them.

Unfortunately feeding the cat in the barn attracts other critters. On many occasions when I come in the morning I find the feed dish empty and the water bowl dumped on the ground. Even when the water bowl isn't dumped it usually has dirt in the bottom of the bowl. I had suspected that raccoons were visiting but couldn't prove it until one night I feed after dark and I caught a raccoon eating the cat food red handed!

Raccoons are not my only cat food thieves.

Meet "Girly", the chicken! The chicken belongs to the same family I talked about earlier. Girly has started coming to the barn too! Geez, I'm beginning to feel like the Pied Piper!

This was the first time she came to the barn. This family also has a miniature goat. It would probably come to the barn too but they keep him penned.

Never a dull moment!

Have a good one!

Light in My Pathway is Born

You may be saying "what?"

I apologize for my absence in blog land. I've been very busy behind the scenes.

You may remember some time ago I mentioned considering selling my cards? Well......

Thanks to my dearest friend....Teresa.

We spent the weekend crafting the end of June. We talked about a lot of things during that time but one of the topics was about me selling my cards. I was just really on the fence about it.

I was afraid.

Afraid no one would buy them.

Afraid I would have so many orders I couldn't keep up.

Afraid... I didn't know what to do or even where to begin.

On Tuesday July 3rd, I had taken the day off work and Teresa sent me a text with a business name. Before the day was through I had changed my Instagram account name, created a Facebook Page, got an email address and bought a domain name!

When the dust settled I thought "what in the world have done?! I am in way over my head!"

The last two months I have spent building a very basic webpage through tutorials, tweeking the Facebook page all the while still trying to make cards. Now mind you I have no expertise in any of these areas! I have also gone to a small business group that meets twice a month to network and help build business through referrals. I am attending a social media training tomorrow through our chamber of commerce. I have committed to doing a craft show on September 22nd. (Can I breathe now?)

I will say however that as of tonight September 12th everything went live. The website is up, the Facebook page is up and so is another blog 😓. It may still have some glitches but I knew the only way I would find out was if I just pushed the "Publish" button!

Do not worry. I am not doing away with this blog. I will continue to blog here for family and friends who are interested in what is going on in my life. Most of my cards though will probably go on the other blog.

I had business cards made. I may change it up some but these will work for now.

I also have an opportunity to be in The Market at 76067. It is in downtown Mineral Wells and will be filled with many vendors. I'm excited and scared stiff all at the same time! I just meet with the owners on Tuesday and they loved my cards. They said I was a perfect fit 😲!

I don't know about you but I don't think I can handle much more excitement!

Have a good one!

Back to School 8-28-2018

It's back to school most everywhere I guess and it is here. Kennedy, Kashton and Korin are all in school this fall at Community Christian School. Kennedy is in 3rd grade, Kashton in Kindergarten and Korin in Pre-K. She only goes 2 days a week for half a day.

Vanessa posted this picture to Facebook with this caption:

Last but not least...first day of school.

I had to laugh as I read through the comments and saw Vanessa's reply to another comment from someone.

Kennedy was not happy about this picture. I told her “We can be late or you can smile. I’ll stand here all day to wait for a good picture.”

That's my girl 😉

My brother came into town on Friday 8-24. I did know he was in the area but didn't know he was coming to Mineral Wells until Mom came to help me with the bulletin on Friday. We went to lunch. It was good to see him!

Have a good one!
