Waiting for the horses to finish eating I noticed a wonderful aroma. It was a sweet fragrance that
reminded me of honeysuckle. I followed my nose and looked for blooms of some kind and found these beauties on a tree in the fence line next to where the horse pasture. I took a whiff and sure enough that was what I was smelling. I had never noticed these blooms before. I didn't know what kind of tree this was.
I posted the picture on Facebook and one of my friends identified it as a China Berry. When I went back to feed that evening I was delighted to find a host of butterflies fluttering around this tree! So I have nicknamed the tree my Butterfly Tree!
It maybe hard to tell but this butterfly was HUGE!
This guy is battle scarred! Still gets around pretty good even with a chunk out of his wing!
So not only do I get to enjoy a wonderful fragrance I get to watch these beautiful and delicate creatures 😤.
Have a good one!
I told you it was a butterfly tree. :) What a wonderful way to get some amazing butterfly photos! Pretty tree too. I wonder why you'd never noticed it before? But glad you have now.
ReplyDeleteI can not for the life of me figure out why I've never noticed it before. Now that I know what it is I have seen several out by the horses! Go figure! Thanks Sandy! It's been fun seeing all the butterflies!
