Tufted Titmouse

I found a third nest. This one is also in a pipe. The only reason I knew there might be a nest is I saw a parent with food go down inside the pipe.

See the tail sticking out the top!

These pictures were taken on 4-8.

That pole sticking up in the air to the right of the water tank is it.

I started carrying my camera with me every time I fed and I am so glad I did as I got a special treat on the morning of April 17th.

Getting ready to go down in the pipe.

There she goes!

Now at first glance you might think this is the same bird with a different insect but watch....

It's Mom and Dad 😲!

I thought that was pretty darn cool!

Now I was really intrigued! I had to see if I could get a picture of the nest but how to get up there. Then I got the idea to drive my truck into the pasture and stand on the tool box! The day I did that was on April 18th! It was foggy that day as you can see.

Even standing on top of my tool box I wasn't quite high enough look into the pipe.

So I put my phone over the top and snapped a couple of pictures and was surprised at the result!

See how far down they are!

I enlarged the photo so you could see the babies better.

It looks like they are close to leaving the nest if they can!

On Saturday April 22nd when I went to feed that morning I found this little guy in Fancy's stall!

This answered my question about whether they could get out of the pipe! I gently shooed him out of the stall so he wouldn't get stepped on.

I got the horses eating and went to see if I could find him. I did. Hiding in the tall grass. This is the only one of the babies I saw. Hope he made it ok. So cute 😊

Well, all the babies have left their nests so no more baby bird watching until next spring!

Have a good one!

Good Friday 4-14-2017

I made arrangements with Vanessa to take Kashton riding on Good Friday. He was impatient for me to come. Here is a picture that she took and what she said "He's had his boots on since 8:30AM". I picked him up about 10:30!

He was a happy boy!

I let him choose what horse he wanted to ride. He picked Diamond. As he put it "he's my favorite". Mine too buddy 😉

We stop for a quick selfie!

I took him behind the churches through the trees and behind the housing addition. He told his mom that I took him through secret passage ways 😉

We found some pretty Indian Paint brushes on our ride.

After his ride, I told him I would take him to eat anywhere he wanted to go. He first said "Taco Casa" then he changed his mind and said he wanted to go to the "new McDonald's". I asked where that was. He said it was next to the old one!

When we got to McDonald's I asked him if this was the one and he said yes. Go figure!

He is something else!

I take him home and look who greeted us 😲

After dropping off Kashton I go back to the horses to meet Ashley. I had made arrangements to ride with her and another couple from church that I have ridden with before. We had some rain and the State Park horse trails were closed so I got permission to ride at Pastor Kirk's place.

Ashley on Diamond, Joelle in the middle and her husband Tracy on the right.

I'm leading the pack 😉

Taking pictures.

Joelle shared some of the photos she took.

Getting a drink.

We had a great ride. We saw some rabbits and a lone coyote! Thankfully no snakes! Pastor Kirk had killed a 6 ft rattler just a few days ago not far from their house!

Have a good one!

It's All About the Snowcone 4-13-2017

I attended Kashton's game on Thursday 4-13. Kennedy had a game at the same time. Their fields were back to back so I placed myself in between and tried to watch and take pictures of both games. Now that was interesting!

Geez, Kashton doesn't look 4 years old here!

Being a bored 4 year old 😉

The best part of baseball. The free snowcone! He's the first one to the stand 😆

Even though I watched both games I took more pics of Kash because I had a better view but I did get a few of Kennedy. Here she gets a hit.

I think she may be looking for me. She's playing 3rd base.

Ready for another pitch!

Running to first!

Have a good one!

Nope. Not Today

This tag I made for a friend. I could so see her saying this with a sweet smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. I made it with the purpose of her hanging it in her office. I know her work gets very stressful at times.

I went out of my comfort zone and normal creative box in making this tag.  I used a plain manilla tag and brushed Gesso on it for a base to apply paint. You heard me....paint! Once the Gesso dried I applied yellow and purple acrylic paint. I let that dry then I stamped with Unity's "Wild and Free" which is a poppy. Next I used Unity's Angie Girl "Tricia". I colored her with my Copic Markers and cut her out. I used foam tape to give her some dimension. Then I stamped the sentiment on paper and cut into a banner then adhered with a strip of washi tape. To complete the tag I added ribbon. I hope she likes her!

I also made this tag. I didn't have anyone in mind when I did this. It was inspired by a video I saw. I used Distress Inks to create the background. The image is a Phyllis Harris Design by Unity called "Beauty Around You". I colored this using pencils. I then wrapped with a piece of thread and added a few bling. I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark and heat embossed with black.

I decided to make a card too using craft and coloring with pencils. I really like how this turned out.

Have a good one!

Found Another Wren's Nest

This nest is also in a pipe. This one is in the barn. In fact there was a bird nest in this one last year. It was a Tufted Titmouse. This one is a Wren. I only know that because I saw the mom. This pic was taken 4-13.

To get this picture I had to put my phone over the hole so I am surprised this turned out as well as it did! The opening is so close to the roof of the barn I couldn't look in.

Momma wasn't too happy about me being in the area. If you click on the picture to make it bigger you will see her squawking at me. The lighting wasn't very good in the mornings under the barn.
These pictures were taken on 4-17.

You can just barely see the beak of one of the babies.

This one was taken on 4-19.

Taken 4-20.

Momma bringing food. Taken 4-21

This was also taken on 4-21.

The babies are closer to leaving the nest than I thought. They were very vocal this morning (4-23) so I climbed the fence to see if I could get another picture. I couldn't seem to get the right angle to take a picture so I settled for this one.

When I went to feed tonight it was eerily quiet so I climbed the fence again only to discover the babies had flown the coop!

I was kind of sad but I enjoyed watching them!

Have a good one!
