Just Beachy! Challenge

Cards in Envy's challenge is "Just Beachy!" Cards are to be about the beach, ocean or sea. This is my card.

The background paper reminds me of the ocean and the beach. It's a old Yellow Bicycle line. The image digital by Sliekje. I love her images. There is a girl version of this too. I colored it with copic markers and cut him out. I also cut a small slit in the background paper and stuck is foot in it to give the impression his foot was in the water. The beach ball I cut out of a paper that I think was an old Creative Imaginations line. The sentiment is part of a Unity set. To give some dimension I put some foam tape behind the boy, beach ball and sentiment.

The Eve of 4th of July

July 3rd is the day Remi went home. Before she was to leave Keannon and Vanessa brought her by to say her goodbyes.

Nothing like having ice cream sandwiches and popsicles in the summer time!

I had too much fun getting this series of pictures!

Trails are Finally Open

The riding trails at the State Park have been closed for about a month! I was itching to go ride. I had off Friday July 3rd so I had decided I was going to ride. I called the park and the trails were actually open! Woohoo! I saddle up Fancy and Diamond and head to the park.

This is the trail head. As you can see it was cloudy that day but it made for comfortable temperatures!

 I began the ride on Fancy.

There is no prettier view than between the ears of a horse!

We come to our first low water crossing. My goodness I haven't seen water across this part of the trail in a few years! There was LOTS of water running through here when we had all the rain in May as is evidenced by all the sand piled high!

You can tell by the sand that there was water everywhere and it knocked down some trees.

Halfway through the ride I switch horses.

This is my favorite part of the trail. I love the shade. It makes me feel like we're in a jungle!

One of my favorite spots along the trail is the HUGE tree! I began riding at the State Park in 1995 and the tree was there WAY before then!

The main trail makes an 8 mile loop so there are two places where the trail crosses the creek. This is the second crossing. It had even more sand than the first. It appears that the park had to grade the sand to find the trail!

coming up the other side. I just couldn't get over how much sand was deposited from the water going through here. It was as tall as I was on the horse!

There was also still some water standing on the trails.

There were lots of these little yellow beauties throughout the park.

It was a great day and a great ride but the icing on the cake was what I saw as I was leaving!

I saw a doe cross the road in front of me. When I looked to see if I could still see her I saw this! I was astonished! I stopped the truck and grabbed my camera out of the bag to get this. Then as quick as I could I changed lens to hopefully get a close picture before they got too uncomfortable with me parked in the road.

Of course just as I get the lens changed they decide I'm too close for comfort.

I was thrilled at what I got to see. A little bummed I couldn't get a better close up shot. Still a darn good day!

Baking Cookies

On July 2nd, the night before Remi went home, I went over to the kids. After dinner Vanessa told the
girls they could make cookies. Remi and Kennedy's cousin Krystal was also there.

The girls had a great time. I had to leave and didn't get a picture of the finished product but I'm pretty sure they were good!

Where's Help When You Need it

I went to buy feed July 1st for the horses along with some other stuff. True to form young strong able
bodied men took it to my truck and loaded it. I was very appreciative but as I am watching them load it in my truck I'm thinking "where are you guys when I need to unload this at the barn?!"

There isn't an easy way to get feed to where I keep it. So I use a wheel barrow so I don't have to make several trips. There are 4  50lb bags of feed, the salt block is also 50 lbs and the white container is 10lb. A total of  260 lbs.

Before the sunset, the moon began to rise and it was a beauty!

Interesting Clouds

The last day of the month of June as I was going to feed saw thunder heads in the distance. No need
to worry though. They were in the wrong direction to affect us. Still they were pretty to look at.

It was also an interesting sunset. There wasn't a lot of color but I love catching the sun rays. It makes me think of God's glory.

I have a knack for always fixing supper right as the sun is setting! I was running back and forth! It's a wonder I didn't burn something!
