Birds Feeding

I've discovered a couple of bird nests in our backyard. One I can't see at all but hear the babies. It is under the patio roof. The other is too high to see into the nest but I have seen little beaks poking just above the rim. One is a sparrow nest the other is a Robin nest. I've had fun watching the momma's and daddies feeding their young.

This is how I knew there were two birds not just one coming to the nest to feed!

If you look close you can see a baby bird's beak just above the nest and under Mom/Dad's beak.

This one had just caught a bug.

Getting ready to take to the nest.

Have a good one!

Kashton Time

Tuesday April 13th, Kennedy had cheer practice in preparation for competition on Saturday. Vanessa asked if I would keep Kashton.

He and Granddad had some popcorn together.

Then Kashton went to feed with me. Don't you just love his shorts and boots!

As you could see in the previous photo it was cloudy. This was looking to the West giving us hope for some rain. I thought the clouds look neat.

I was walking to the barn and saw this "S" in the dirt. I was like "who made that 'S?" Upon closer inspection it was two horseshoe prints that just happen to overlap making the "S". I thought that was pretty cool!

Kashton making friends with Diamond.

Fancy wasn't interested in being close to Kashton.

After we get back from feeding horses, Kashton helps me cook supper. Green beans is one of his favorite veggies.

Every good cook tastes as they are cooking! Kashton getting himself some green beans!

We had a good time!

Triple Time Stamping

I needed a birthday card for a friend and decided I wanted to use a technique I discovered through Operation Write Home. They are a great source for tutorials and I absolutely LOVE their sketches! This is a great organization that collects handmade cards to give to troops to mail back home. I simply LOVE this concept. I have made and donated cards in the past but got out of the habit. I want to try to get back in the grove. Everything you need to know about them and their guide lines can be found on their website.

Back to the card. I saw this stamp technique during a "blog hop" and gave it a try. It's really easy and makes for a elegant looking card! It's called Triple Time Stamping.

My friend is an avid bird watcher so I added a bird to the card. The stamp is from Unity. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink Salty Ocean. I wanted to give the bird some gloss and used clear embossing powder but it didn't give the effect I was looking for so I covered the bird with glossy accents. I cut the bird out and put foam tape behind to give the bird some dimension.

I'm thinking this would be a great technique to use in making multiple cards and just changing out the sentiment.

Beauty in Dobbs Valley

Dobbs Valley isn't a town but a place in the country that has a little church and cemetery. Doyle's parents are buried there as are a few other family members.

It is one of my favorite places to take the dogs for an adventure. I hadn't been in quite a while. I
knew that when we've had ample rain the church's yard is full of Blue Bonnets this time of year.

There weren't quite as many Blue Bonnets as I had hoped but pretty still the same!

A single Indian Paint Brush among the Blue Bonnets.

Now this is a first. A selfie with my SLR camera!

A little bee action.

On a Roll Making Cards

Participating in the 30 Day Color Challenge gave me momentum! I have continued making cards. I sure wish it was this easy for me to whip out a 12x12 page layout!

This card I made for a friend's birthday. The background paper is Echo Park. I colored the image using my Copic Markers and cut it out. I used foam tap to give some dimension. I also popped the dove with foam tape.

The next several cards were made with leftovers given to me from a friend who was making cards at the last crop. I added the dark green cardstock and ribbon and embossed the sentiment .

I really like how this one turned out.

I really liked this one too! The sentiment was embossed.

1st Easter with Remi

Yes, it's true. Since Remi has been coming to Texas for visitation (2011) this was the first time we had her for Easter. We were pretty excited!

Vanessa planned an egg hunt at her house with a couple other families on Saturday. I was working at the store so I wasn't able to join them but Doyle did and he snapped a couple of pictures for me. Vanessa also brought the kids by the store for pictures with the Easter Bunny. Now neither of us really talk up the Easter Bunny but we thought it would be fun to get pictures.

The Bunny was Cathy's son-in-law.

Kashton wasn't having anything to do with the Bunny!

I think Remi got the most eggs!

I have no idea what is up with this face! I do see evidence of already getting into one of the eggs!

This is what happens when you rely on others to take pictures for you! If it had been me I would have gotten Kashton's attention and taken another picture. Same with the one of Kennedy. But...I wasn't there so any pics is better than none!

He may not have gotten good pics of the egg hunt but he did get a pretty good picture of Kennedy batting at her ball game that morning.

This was Easter Sunday after church. Not the best background but I was doing good to round them up for a picture before they went home and changed clothes! Kashton was not in a good mood at all!

I like this one only because it looks like Korin is saying to Kashton "what is your deal?!"

Out of eleven pictures these were the best two!

After church we went to Vanessa's for lunch. Wayne joined us. Don't know why it didn't occur to me to try to get pictures of the family while
we were all together.

I did get one of Mom and Korin.

After lunch the kids went outside to use the silly string Mom and Dad had gotten them!

Dad is helping Kashton but he doesn't even know he's shooting me!

It was a great day!

Have a good one!
