Get Away Weekend 10-07-2022

For Vanessa's birthday this year, I felt that I should give her a weekend away with me at a Bed &
Breakfast
. The last trip we took together was in 2019 when we went to Colorado for Worship at Red Rocks.

It isn't a milestone birthday. She turned 37 this year but she is always planning a birthday party for Korin who was born the day after her birthday.

And she's had a lot on her plate of late with homeschooling the two older ones, running the restaurant and running the family household all while Keannon is insurance adjusting in Florida after Hurricane Ian.

The soonest we could get away was last weekend. I booked a Bed & Breakfast at a place just outside Wimberley about an hour South of Austin. It's a town of less than 8,000 people who their downtown is filled with all types of shops, eateries and live entertainment. I was amazed at how many people and cars there were!

Our first stop we made was just an hour and a half down the road in a little town called Hico. I have a scrapbook friend who lives here and works at a well known chocolate factory. I've always wanted to stop when I've been through there but never took the time. Vanessa was game. We didn't go to the factory which was a separate location but we did stop at the candy store. It is called Wiseman House Chocolates. Yes, we both left with chocolate!

We arrive just in time to watch the sunset as we get settled in our room.

The entrance to our room. The "Mill Room".

This is the view from our porch.

Another shot of the sunset from ground level.

Once unpacked we drove 10 minutes into Wimberley to eat dinner. We chose one of the recommendations of the Bed & Breakfast which was "Creekhouse".

Vanessa ordered fish tacos.

I got nachos with shredded chicken. Neither of us were able to eat all the food! It was very good!

Live entertainment.

Walking to the truck we saw this sign on one of the buildings.

Great start to a fun-filled weekend.

Have a good one!

Kashton Loses the Mullet 10-07-2022

Kashton finally decided he was done with long hair. If you are on Facebook you've probably already seen
these pics but I am posting here for my own documentation if I get around to scrapbooking it.

If you remember he had his hair permed at one time. The curl is nearly all gone now.

Kashton is so dramatic!

His face seems to be saying "What have I done?!"

I think he is okay with it.

Acting cool now!

Have a good one!

Kayaking 10-02-2022

My friend Rose invited me to go kayaking with her, her husband and another friend from church.

Rose taking the picture, her husband Brandon and Charlotte on the other side of me.

We saw this beauty as we started out on the lake!

The water was much calmer than the last time I went.

The weather was nearly perfect!

We had a really good time!

This Blue Heron thought we got too close for it's comfort and took flight.

Volleyball Season Again 10-01-2022

Kennedy loves volleyball. She was going to play with the private school (CCS) but there weren't enough girls to have a junior high team.

She is playing City League. For the first time she is actually playing with her age group which has some disadvantages. Some of the girls have never played before.

This picture is showing a technique used in Volleyball to keep a person in a certain spot. What I mean is where the girls are now is the right placement but once the ball is served Kennedy trades places with the girl she is hold hands with. We never did this when I played.

Kennedy sees me.

Bailey Girls Cheer 09-30-2022

Korin is on the Spirit Squad and Kennedy is on the Cheer Squad.  Not sure why she thought she needed sunglasses! The sun had almost gone down!

The Spirit Squad doing "Big G Little o".

They look so enthused! Korin does take cheering seriously!

Pregame National Anthem. You can't see Korin but she is there. (Photo credit to school photographer)

CCS Warriors once again dominated the other team. The score was 40 to 0 at the half. I didn't stay long after that. I was holding out to see if the girls would perform during halftime but they didn't.

I had a hard time trying to watch both girls. This was the only thing I caught the Cheer Squad doing.

Some of the little girls got to go up in a stance with the big girls. Kennedy is in the front. (Photo credit to school photographer.)

Riding Bikes with Kashton 9-28-2022

Kashton asked to come hang out with me while his parents went to do shopping for the restaurant. He
wanted to ride bikes to the cemetery. Kashton rode Granddad's bike. I can't believe he's big enough he can ride it!

Showing how strong he is (I had to be quick! He couldn't hang there very long!)

I have a picture of each grand on this sundial and one of their Mom when she was little!

We had fun!

Grandparents Day 09-15-2022

Community Christian School elementary students honored their grandparents with a short program, cards they made and refreshments on Wednesday September 21st at 8:30 AM. Korin is the only grand attending but Mom, Doyle and I all went!

Korin with her best friend Zara. Zara's grandparents didn't come so she sat with us. Zara's grandmother is one of my dear friends.

I'm still not good at knowing where to look when taking a self!

Korin was happy we came!
