Morning Rides Again

It is finally getting daylight early enough for me to ride my bike in the mornings again. Even though I dislike getting up early, I do like getting my exercise in before I lose my day to other things!

Unfortunately my phone camera can not capture the colors as well as my big camera. But trust me it was beautiful! And the mornings are so nice and cool!

I'm on a pretty close time schedule but I couldn't resist pictures of some of these beauties along the trail.

Have a good one!

Weekend Fun

Kennedy came home with me after lunch Sunday afternoon (May 3rd). It was too pretty a day to stay inside. I took Kennedy to the State Park.

With it being a weekend day and being a beautiful day, there were LOTS of people at the park!

We had a great time!

Have a good one!

What a Difference a Day Makes

After ridding with Leslie, the very next day (Wednesday April 29th), I made arrangements with
Vanessa for Kennedy to go ride with me. This was her first time to ride away from where we keep the horses. We rode at the same place.

The day before it was in the 50's and cloudy. I wore a long sleeve shirt and a jacket. This day it was the upper 70's sunshine and short sleeve weather!

We had been riding all of about 10 or 15 minutes when Kennedy said she wanted to take a break. I had bought her a snack and drink to carry on the horse. We stopped at the same watering hole that Leslie and her horse Cash played in.

Of course she wanted to play in the water.

She thought that was great fun!

I managed to coax her back on the horse.

I learned from Leslie and checked to see if my phone would do the same thing. It would! So here's Kennedy and my selfies with the horses.

Have a good one!

Finally a Date with My Riding Buddy!

Leslie and I finally got a chance or should I say we took a chance to go ride together Tuesday April 28th. I don't know when we last rode together but it's be a few years.

And wouldn't you know after have many beautiful "spring temperature days" the day we were able to connect it was cloudy and chilly! Oh well. We're "cowgirls" and we were going to make the most of it.

With all the rain we had received the trails at the state park were closed so I asked someone I knew who had land if we could ride.

I brought two horses. I ponied one, rode the other then switched. Rodeo is this week and wanted to get some ride time in on both of them.

Leslie brought 2 horses also but for a different reason. One had shoes the other didn't. It is pretty rocky where we were so she chose to ride the one with shoes.

Isn't she cute! Love her horses halter! That is Zebe and the other is Cash. Cash had the shoes. Zebe stayed at the trailer.

It had been a long time since I had ridden out here. We began our ride the way I had in the past but that meant going through gates. Since I had two horses, Leslie offered to get the gates. Here she is using her "ranch" skills!

We rode for a short distance to a decline that was riddled with loose rocks. Neither of us was very comfortable making the horses go that way on top of the fact it was muddy making slipping an issue. So we head back the way we came. It was then we discovered we didn't have to go through a gate at all!

I can't quite figure out why but every time Leslie and I ride she ends up way behind me!

Leslie and Cash decide to stop and play in the waterhole

and get a drink.

This was Leslie's view!

Leslie does lead the way during part of the ride.

A feeble attempt at a "selfie". Fancy didn't like Cash so we had a hard time getting close enough to get a picture together!

Now I know why she was dragging behind! Taking selfies!

After we get through Leslie came up with a way to get a picture of us all. Now I need to tell you how she did it so you can appreciate how good this picture came out! She used the camera on her phone! She set it on self-timer, and set it on the fender of the trailer! This is a "group selfie"! Pretty impressive huh?!

We had a wonderful time even though it was "cold" to us (upper 50's and damp). We have agreed we need to do this again soon!

Have a good one!

Deluge

I am so giddy over the recent beneficial rains we've received. One of the best rains we got happened
on Monday April 27th. It was cloudy when I went to work but had produced nothing. I was at my computer at the office when the bottom fell out! I had to watch it was so pretty to see!

Looking out the back door.

I was late to leave the office because I waited for the rain to let up to get to my truck! There was water standing everywhere!

even the drainage canal was running full!

Then it came another round!

The lake that is the water source for Mineral Wells (Lake Palo Pinto) hasn't gotten all the rain we have here but it's gotten enough to raise the lake level. It was at 8% capacity and had risen to 30% and in just a few days! We have more rain in the forecast this week! I'm pretty stoked about that!

Have a good one!

Wedding on the Square

I mentioned in my last post that I was unable to do the entire County Historical Tour as I had a wedding to attend.

It is Vanessa's best friend that she has had since childhood. I've watched this young woman persevere through some very difficult things and now seems to have found happiness at last.

The wedding took place on the lawn of the courthouse.

Kennedy was so excited about attending the wedding. She asked me to take this picture.

Spending a little time with Korin before the wedding.

This wedding was a bit unusual for me. The bride had a girl and two guys as her attendants.

You may kiss the bride!

Vanessa is in the green dress.

Introducing Mr. & Mrs!

Just as Vanessa and Hannah are friends so are their girls! This is Ari, Hannah's daughter with Kennedy.

My best friend Teresa  and her daughter Leslie.

Vanessa and Leslie are more than friends...they are like sisters!

Tattoos were made available to all the guest. Kennedy was happy to wear hers....taking liberty to grab extras and proudly displaying them on both arms and legs!

It was a great time!

Have a good one!
