Is it Really February?

My goodness it has felt more like spring around here than February. This is usually our coldest time of year and our temps have been in the 70's and 80's. I am complaining ever so slightly only because I know the bottom can fall out at any time! I hate the yo-yo weather.

Since it has been so nice, I'm trying to get some riding in. There is a lady in our church who is a horse person. She is 12 years younger than me but age doesn't matter when you both love, ride and have horses.

I invited her to ride with me at the State Park on Monday February 6th.

I just love to photograph shadows!

My friend Joelle, took this picture and shared it with me.

My favorite view is between the ears 😉.

It's hard to see here but if you click on the picture it will enlarge. I was taking a picture of the landscape, bright blue sky and the moon.

We had a great time and will be doing more rides as the weather holds out!

Have a good one.

Super Bowl Sunset 2-5-2017

Not only was it a super game (after the half) but it was a super sunset! I took out right before half time. The game wasn't too interesting to me at that point. The Falcons were up by 21 and it was looking the it was going to be a pretty sunset so I left to go feed.

Clouds opposite of the sunset.

These clouds are just to the right or North of the sunset.

These clouds were to the South of the sunset. So pretty.

The sky looked like it was on fire. Such rich colors.

Lost Another Baby Tooth 2-5-2017

Kennedy is keeping the tooth fairy busy! She lost her other bottom front baby tooth.  It's been really loose for several days. Well, it came out in her sleep Saturday night but she found it!

Have a good one!

Playing with the New Puppy 2-3-2017

The new puppy still does not have a name but that doesn't keep Kennedy from enjoying her!

This is exactly what she wanted!

After all that running she was ready for a little doggy nap!

While baby is napping Kennedy is helping me make cornbread.

All I did was telling what to put in and how much and she did the rest.

Pouring in the pan to bake.
Little girl slept all the way through that part.

Sweet dreams little girl 😊

Have a good one!

Walking the Dogs 2-2-2017

One of our cool days, Kashton asked if we could take the dogs for a walk.

He walked Kaidence and I walked Gracie. It was in the upper 40's and overcast. Thankfully the wind wasn't blowing! Kash in typical "Texas Fashion" wore shorts and a "jacket".

We walked by where the donkey lives and Kashton wanted to pet him. The donkey didn't want to come to the fence with the dogs close so I took them both and backed up a bit.

Kashton called to the donkey and he came!

Kashton said "He sure has long ears!" Great observation buddy!

Have a good one!

New Family Member 2-2-2017

Kajen's health got so bad the kids had to make the decision to have him euthanized January 13th. He was 10. He was the best dog they ever had.

Kennedy has wanted another dog for sometime. A small dog that she could hold and snuggle with. Vanessa had tried a couple of different times to get a rescue but none of those worked out.

Kennedy told me today while she was practicing guitar that she had ask God for a puppy. (At that time I knew she was getting one as Vanessa had told me a few hours before Kennedy and I had this conversation).

This sounds unrelated but hang with me, it is part of the story. The kids bought a house the same day Kajen died. What a roller coaster of emotions! Anyway, they have been working on it getting it prepared to move into.

Vanessa wanted to surprise Kennedy with the puppy so the plan was for me to bring Kennedy to the new house after guitar lessons. So this video is taken in the new house. I will post some pics and tell more in another post about the house.

Vanessa was planning to video her reaction but it backfired. Vanessa instructed her to go to see her room as Daddy was working in there. He was sitting on the floor with the puppy between his legs. He was wearing black pants and the puppy is black. Kennedy didn't see the puppy. Kennedy just thought Mommy was taking video of her and she didn't like it and ran out of the room totally unaware her surprise was right before her eyes. Needless to say videoing the surprise failed but I got a short clip of her Facetiming Remi to tell her.

The puppy is a little female Mini Australian Shepherd. It's not supposed to get more than 10lbs.  Kennedy isn't sure yet what name she will give her but she's thrown around the name "Brently".

Kennedy is very happy!

Have a good one!

Spiritual Retreat 1-28-17

My church held a Ladies Retreat Friday January 27-Sat January 28th. We had about 34 women Camp Hoblitzelle about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Mineral Wells. Mom attended with me. We took her car and had 2 others go with us.
attend. Our venue was at

Our guest speaker was Anna Maher. She is young enough to be my daughter! (Geez, I am getting old!) Her message was simple but very good.

She felt like God had given her three words for us. Rest, Recharge and Re-acclimate. She also shared about dreaming with God. She had us make a list of our dreams. She asked us to start with 10 but to keep adding until we got to 100. I still have some work to do.

We had a session on Friday night and one Saturday morning.

I caught Mom visiting with some of her friends.

During worship Saturday morning I encountered God through a picture He gave me. The very first song we sang was called "All Who Are Thirsty". The lyrics of the chorus are "Come Lord Jesus come". As I am singing those words the picture forms. I see Jesus out on the water. I was in a boat. More like a ship or like a cruise ship. Very big and tall above the water. As I sing the words Come Lord Jesus, I sensed that Jesus was saying to me "I want you to come to Me." As I looked out toward Him from where I was it was very scary how far it was to the water. I kept sensing that He wanted me to come to Him. To do that I would have to jump off the ship. All through worship I kept sensing Jesus calling me to "Come to Him."  We sang several songs when we started singing "Good, Good Father". I began an internal dialogue with myself. "If I truly believe God is good, I wouldn't be so afraid to jump off the ship. I would believe God wouldn't allow me to be hurt." In the picture in my mind I jumped off the ship only to find that the jump wasn't far at all. I realized that it was my "perception" of the situation. My fear distorted my vision. When I chose to believe God was good. A good Father, then my fear was dispelled and I was able to jump and run to embrace Jesus. That isn't something that happens to me all the time so it was pretty cool!

We had some free time in the afternoon and I walked around a bit. I love going to the lake where there is a cross. I loved how the sun shining on the water looked like diamonds sparkling. I also liked the shadow that was cast from the cross. I was doing some journaling.

You know me and shadows. I thought I would try to get a picture of my shadow with the cross shadow.

As I was doing this the lyrics to another song came to mind.

Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

Then I took a selfie. I liked this one too.

The lake is by the cafeteria. After dinner I went back to the lake and cross for a few pictures as the sunset. There were no clouds so the sky wasn't colorful but it was still pretty.

Beautiful and peaceful!

Have a good one!
