Kennedy trotting Clyde

This was the same day I took the girls riding, July 29th. Kennedy wanted to try to trot. Clyde being an older horse it takes a little effort to make him go faster. Kennedy lost a boot in the process! The girls didn't wear "boot socks" with their boots and the tops were rubbing their legs I improvised by using vet wrap! It worked! as you can see by the title on the video this is part 2. Riding with the Girls

We had another day of isolated showers and it dropped the temperature 15 degrees! Made it bearable to consider going riding. I contacted Vanessa and asked if the girls could go.

Remi looks so happy and looks really natural at leading that horse!

Kennedy and I have our work cut out brushing Fancy off! She's been rolling in a puddle!

 

Clyde is the only horse that I have that I trust to let the girls ride by themselves. Fancy maybe one day but she has some work to do! Both girls wanted to ride Clyde for a few minutes.

I actually have some pictures very similar to this taken a few years ago except Remi was in the front.

I think this was the first time I put them on a horse together. This was 2012. They are so little!

Since Kennedy isn't big enough to get on the horse without help I had her get on the cinder blocks behind us in this picture then I rode by to get her.

We had one little bobble. One part we rode through had some pretty tall grass. Clyde put his head down to get some. Remi, not expecting that move, lost the reins! Thankfully, she (and I) remained calm and I got them back to her. She hung on to those reins for dear life after that!

Remi Drives the "Mule"!

This video was taken July 27th.  This was her first time on the "Mule" so Granddad helped with braking and acceleration.

This was as Granddad drove the "Mule" out of the backyard.

Remi's Back

Remi arrived for her second summer visit July 22nd. The girls came for the afternoon and sleepover Wed July 27th. It was a little overcast that day making it not quite as hot. The girls wanted to ride bikes.

We rode to the cemetery. It's not quite a mile and most of the streets I ride to get there are not busy.

I almost didn't get Remi in this picture!







Once we got to the cemetery I noticed a dark cloud to the Northeast. I didn't think too much about it at first but kept an eye on it. We don't typically get rain from that direction but it can happen. It looked like it was getting closer. I sent a message to Doyle asking if I needed to be concerned. I didn't hear from him at first. The girls and I stopped at the little pond where the ducks were. We started to ride our backs again when there was a VERY big clap of thunder. It made me jump. It scared both girls so bad they were both shaking! Remi asked me to send Granddad a message to come get us. So I did. Here we are in the truck with our bikes in the back!

It never did rain. Just threatened.  The girls talked Granddad into a ride on the "mule". I will put those pics and video in another post.

After church we went to feed horses. Remi has been after me to ride but its just too hot during the day. She asked if she and Kennedy could ride on Clyde bareback to the barn.

When we get to the house they help me whip up some pancakes for dinner!

They also spent the night (surprise!)

Thankful for "Morning" People

I am not a morning person. I like mornings but I also like nights. I can't figure out how to do both and
get enough sleep :) . My new riding buddy is a morning person so I appreciate her contacting me to see if I'm going riding as it gives me just enough motivation to do it!

We went Saturday morning about 7:30 July 23rd. I know you're thinking "That's not that early". You're not taking into consideration that I have to get up about 6 to go feed, hook up the trailer, saddle the horse and load it in the trailer. (ok, I'll quit whining!)

I didn't realize until later that the lens of my camera on my phone was smudged (ugh!)

I love how the sun is shining on her head!

Another Starburst Sunset

There have been several of these this month. That is what I call them. I'm sure there is a scientific name for it. It's cool all the same! This one was taken July 22nd.

This one is almost a "starburst". I thought it was cool. It had more color too!

Make-Up Fascination

Kennedy absolutely loves makeup. I'm sure it doesn't help that she is required to wear make-up for dance and cheer competitions. Vanessa doesn't let her wear it outside the house except for those occasions but she does let her put it on at home.

I have a friend whose teenage daughter is very good at applying make-up. Vanessa arranged for them to get together one afternoon. Because of a conflict I ended up taking her but it worked out as I got the chance to visit my friend in the process!

Kennedy did this except for the eyeliner! She will be an expert by the time she is actually old enough to wear it!

She had a great time! (And so did I :)
