I attended Kennedy's first home game of the season August 27th. Their uniforms are maroon. Kennedy is number 14. She has a friend that if you don't look close they favor. Her number is 12. There are several short video clips from the games.
Kennedy was off to a promising start until 2 days later when she dislocated her shoulder in volleyball practice! I know! I thought the same thing ... How on earth??!!
It was such a bizare accident. Kennedy and another girl both went up to block the ball. Kennedy came down first. The girl next to her came down with her elbow against Kennedy's shoulder knocking it out of socket!
Here are screenshots I took from Vanessa's Facebook page about the event.
She is out 6-8 weeks. Volleyball season is over for her this year.
However, there is good news. After an MRI and visit to an Ortho, no surgery is needed. She is right now 6 weeks out from the injury and is no longer wearing a sling and is able to do some. The Dr said she can do as she tolerates but warned her that even if it feels healed to know she isn't healed completely. A full recovery would take a year. She seems to be doing very well so far.
Have a good one!
