Wasn't Expecting That 6-14-2022

Tuesday June 14th was just another day. I was going to an appointment traveling on one of our residential
streets when about 4 blocks from home a pickup pulls onto the street I'm on fishtailing to the point the truck was almost sideways in the street. I was about a block away from this person and I slowed down watching to see if the person would regain control. The truck went off the road on their side going through a yard, taking out a trash can. I stop my truck at this point thinking "I need to call the police and I don't want to keep moving until I see what this driver does". Just that quick the driver made a left plowing right into the front drivers side of my truck! BAM! I remember thinking "their going to hit me".

Stuff flies every where. The driver tries to back up but the other pickup is hung up on my truck and can't go anywhere.  I start looking for my phone. I find it in the floorboard. I can't get out of the driver's side so I climb over the console and get out on the passenger side.  The driver, a woman, asks if I'm ok and says over and over I'm so sorry. This isn't my truck and I'm not used to it. I don't know what happened." I ask her if she's ok, she says "yes". Another driver behind me comes up to ask if we are ok. I asked her "did you see what happened?" She says "yes". She also contacted police.  I'm shaking so much I can hardly operate my phone.  I text my appointment to let them know I won't make it today.

Doyle is at city hall for a city budget planning meeting. He usually puts his phone on silent during those
meetings but I send him a text to tell him what has happen and send him a pic. As I expected, he didn't respond.

Two police officers show up. One officer began to ask me for my info. When I told her my name she said "are you"... and before she could finish I said "yes". She knew I was Doyle's wife. This lady that hit me wasn't drunk but I suspect she was on something.  The woman in the street is the one who witnessed what happened. Her truck is a brighter blue behind mine.

The grill guard is what caused so much damage to my truck.

My poor ole truck. It had to be towed. The police told me they couldn't confirm if the other driver had insurance. Not a good sign. I have filed a claim with my insurance. Should hear from them in a day or two. For now, Vanessa is letting me use her Suburban. She has another car to drive.

I was close enough to home I could have walked but I need to get quite a bit of stuff out of my truck before it got towed. I called Mom to come get me which she graciously did.

Surprisingly I remained calm. I didn't get mad, I didn't cry, I didn't get upset. I know God was with me and helping me to be calm. Not sure how all this will turn out but I have walked with God long enough now to know that His plans for me are good and he causes all things to work together for my good.

Have a good one!
