Wasn't Expecting That 6-14-2022

Tuesday June 14th was just another day. I was going to an appointment traveling on one of our residential
streets when about 4 blocks from home a pickup pulls onto the street I'm on fishtailing to the point the truck was almost sideways in the street. I was about a block away from this person and I slowed down watching to see if the person would regain control. The truck went off the road on their side going through a yard, taking out a trash can. I stop my truck at this point thinking "I need to call the police and I don't want to keep moving until I see what this driver does". Just that quick the driver made a left plowing right into the front drivers side of my truck! BAM! I remember thinking "their going to hit me".

Stuff flies every where. The driver tries to back up but the other pickup is hung up on my truck and can't go anywhere.  I start looking for my phone. I find it in the floorboard. I can't get out of the driver's side so I climb over the console and get out on the passenger side.  The driver, a woman, asks if I'm ok and says over and over I'm so sorry. This isn't my truck and I'm not used to it. I don't know what happened." I ask her if she's ok, she says "yes". Another driver behind me comes up to ask if we are ok. I asked her "did you see what happened?" She says "yes". She also contacted police.  I'm shaking so much I can hardly operate my phone.  I text my appointment to let them know I won't make it today.

Doyle is at city hall for a city budget planning meeting. He usually puts his phone on silent during those
meetings but I send him a text to tell him what has happen and send him a pic. As I expected, he didn't respond.

Two police officers show up. One officer began to ask me for my info. When I told her my name she said "are you"... and before she could finish I said "yes". She knew I was Doyle's wife. This lady that hit me wasn't drunk but I suspect she was on something.  The woman in the street is the one who witnessed what happened. Her truck is a brighter blue behind mine.

The grill guard is what caused so much damage to my truck.

My poor ole truck. It had to be towed. The police told me they couldn't confirm if the other driver had insurance. Not a good sign. I have filed a claim with my insurance. Should hear from them in a day or two. For now, Vanessa is letting me use her Suburban. She has another car to drive.

I was close enough to home I could have walked but I need to get quite a bit of stuff out of my truck before it got towed. I called Mom to come get me which she graciously did.

Surprisingly I remained calm. I didn't get mad, I didn't cry, I didn't get upset. I know God was with me and helping me to be calm. Not sure how all this will turn out but I have walked with God long enough now to know that His plans for me are good and he causes all things to work together for my good.

Have a good one!

The Lions, The Switch and The Warm Robes 6-10-2022

Kaston and Korin attended SMAK at First Baptist Church last week. I think the letters stand for "Summer Music And Kids". FBC has had this program every summer for decades. All week long the kids work on a musical then perform it at the end of the week. The musical was called "The Lions, The Switch and the Warm Robes". It is based on the story of Daniel.

I really wasn't in a great place to get pictures but I did get this one that has Kashton (in the back) and Korin (with the yellow bow.)

Kashton had a short solo. A friend of mine whose kids were also in the program took this pic for me. Kashton did great and didn't seem the least bit nervous.

I did get a video of him singing his part.

The kids did a great job! It was delightful to watch Several kids from our church were in this program too!

Have a good one!

Clifford

Clifford joined the family in August 2016. He was Kennedy's pet. Here is the link to that blog post if you want to refresh your memory.

When the kids house burned in March of 2020 he came to live with me. I began researching about Guinea Pigs because I knew nothing except what Vanessa had told me. I learned so much!

Here is another link to a former post about Clifford.

Clifford passed away May 26th.

Clifford had not been acting himself so I knew that something wasn't right. I took him to the vet on May
16th. The vet prescribed antibiotics 2x a day for 7 days. He was slow to improve but finally did begin to show signs of improvement. However, after he finished his meds he began to go down hill again.

I brought him to my craft room as was my habit every day in the afternoon. He would contentedly eat his hay and lettuce I gave him but not this day. He just laid there. It was hard to see him not feel good.

I left the house to go to Korin's Academic Awards for school. When I got home. he was gone.

What I have read about Guinea Pigs is their life expectancy is about 8 years. He was 6 maybe 7 as Kennedy acquired him from another family but I don't think they had him very long.

I did enjoy having him. I do miss him but to be honest, I'm not ready to have anymore pets. I have the horses and I'm good with that for now.

Have a good one!

I went to Korin's academic awards. She got several certificates, medals and the prized Bible trophy for learning all the memory verses.

This is the Music Achievement Certufucate.

Being silly! The girl in front of Korin is her good friend Zara.

Academic Excellence Certificate for all A Honor roll.

Each year a Bible Character Award is given based on the characteristics the Bible person.

Korin received the Miriam Award (Miriam was Moses sister) for being attentive.

Korin started being silly again and I couldn't get a decent picture with her Bible trophy.

I do not remember what the medals were for.

Having successfully completed First Grade. She will be in Second Grade this fall!
