My Friend - Going Gray Challenge

Cards in Envy challenge this week is "Going Gray". They are looking for cards that are mostly GRAY in color. It can have a bit of other color but it must be mostly gray. It also must be an A2 size (4.25 x 5.5) and flat enough to fit in an envelope for mailing.

I made this card using scrap papers I'm not sure but I think it maybe from an Adorn It collection.

The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday and the image is an older Hero Arts stamp called "Loving Horses". I colored the horses with my Copic Markers. I cut the horses out using a spellbinders oval shape.

The challenge is cards only and ends February 1st.

Never Lose Your Sense of Wonder

I made this card for a friend and worship leader at our church. The stamp set is a Phyllis Harris design by Unity Stamp Company. Some time after I had purchased this stamp I purchased a new worship CD by Bethel Church in Redding CA called "You Make Me Brave". This whole CD is a good one but there is one track on the CD that is spontaneous worship and the lyric is "may we never lose our wonder" talking about us not losing the wonder and awe of who God is.

Ever since I heard that song I have wanted to make a card using this stamp to send to my friend. I finally got that done the other day.

I colored the image using my Copic Markers. I used scraps of design paper to make this card. The blue is from American Crafts "The Color of Memories" Collection and the yellow is Authentique "Blissful" Collection.

Have a good one!

3rd Card for Make it a Banner Year Challenge

I'm on a roll! I may not be able to do this every challenge but my goal is to make at least one card a challenge. Cards in Envy's first card challenge of the year theme is "Make it a Banner Year". The challenge is to make a card or cards with at least one banner.

I needed a "thank you" card to send to a friend. The image and sentiment are from Impression Obsession. Once again I used the same papers from the Authentique collection "Original". I have so many scraps because I had designed a 2 page layout for a Make-N-Take at a past Cat's Creations National Scrapbook Day Retreat. To see my blog about that layout go here. Now that I make cards I couldn't bring myself to dispose of the scraps so I have A LOT! I stamped the image with Memento Black Tuxedo. I used Versa Mark on the sentiment and heated embossed it. I added some foam tape for dimension on the banner.

Have a good one!

2nd Card for Make it a Banner Year Challenge

After making a card for Card's in Envy "Make It a Banner Year" challenge, I was inspired to create another card.

I used more scraps from Authentique's "Original" Collection. I used a Tim Holtz die for the sentiment. The sentiment is a stamp that I don't remember where I got it from. I used another Operation Write Home sketch #142

Have a good one!

Finally Warm Enough

It finally was a nice enough day Tuesday January 6th I could ride Fancy. The last time I rode her was the day I purchased her which was December 17th and that wasn't very long.

It was sunny, gentle breeze and 58! Not bad at all! I just rode the area by where I keep the horses. She needs her feet trimmed and a current COGGINS which is a paper that basically says she's disease free so I can ride at the State Park.

She was a bit nervous at first but she soon calmed down. She handles really nice and has a nice gait. I look forward to many more rides!

Another pretty sunset unfolded for me.

Have a good one!

Afternoon with the Girls

Monday afternoon (January 5th) I picked up the girls after work so they could spend the afternoon with me. As I knew it would, they also spent the night. We had a good time.

Kennedy wanted to go to the "candy store". It's a small convenience store just a block from my house. Doyle and I bought the girls scooters for Christmas and they brought them when they came over. They road them to the store. There was a nice large slab of concrete next to the store that they wanted to ride their scooters on since it was a smooth surface.

Remi has a scooter at home so she's had some practice but Kennedy is getting the hang of it pretty quick.

That evening I went to feed and once again there was a beautiful sunset.

That night as I'm getting the girls to bed. The girls begin to voice where they want me to sleep. Remi is insisting that I sleep in the middle so she and Kennedy can each be near me. Sounds logical to me but Kennedy is most insistent that she sleep in the middle to the point of getting very upset. I ask her why she wants to be in the middle and she says "I want to sleep by Remi and you". I say "Tell Remi why you want to sleep in the middle". When she does it is so precious hearing Remi's response "Ok, you can sleep in the middle but next time Savtah sleeps in the middle." Everyone went to be happy!

Have a good one!

Remi's 6th and Kennedy's 5th Birthday

Remi's birthday is November 15th and Kennedy's is December 18th. Vanessa planned to have a combined party on January 3rd at the place where Kennedy has gymnastics and cheer.

It was nice because all the kids who attended got to jump and play burning off all that energy!

Doing what she loves!

Look how high she is!

Remi swinging.

Korin with Nana (Vanessa's step-mother).

Grammer and Korin.

Remi turned 6 and Kennedy turned 5.

Everyone is singing happy birthday! It looks like Remi feels a bit embarrassed. I love the expression on Kennedy's face!

telling secrets!

The American Girl is from us.

As is the horse for Remi's American Girl she got for Christmas from her Mom and step-dad.

One tired girl!

Girls tell everyone thank you for the gifts and for coming to their party.

Daddy enjoying some cake and Kashton having a juice box.

Such a handsome dude!

Make it a Banner Year Challenge

Wow, I can't remember when I last entered a card challenge but decided I wanted to get back in the groove this year.

Cards in Envy's theme is "Make it a Banner Year". The challenge is to make a card or cards with banners.

This card was made using scraps from the Authentique "Original" Collection and for a little inspiration I used Operation Write Home's sketch #101. I absolutely love their sketches as they have dimensions and I don't have to "eyeball it". There was a time when I made several cards for OWH. I hope to do that again. Not sure if this card will go or not but at least I'm started.

Have a good one!

Happy New Year!

Ya, I know I'm a week late. Oh well. New Year's Day was a cold and icy one! What a way to ring in the New Year! Thankfully the roads stayed wet and didn't freeze.

I had been watching the weather closely and put blankets on the horses the day before when the front came through. The wind chill was in the upper 20's. These two pictures were taken New Year's Eve.

Fancy is wearing the blanket I used for Dixie.

New Year's Day when I went to feed. Diamond waiting on me for his morning treat...a carrot!

Ice on everything elevated!

Can you see the icicles hanging off of Fancy's blanket and her mane? She is warm under that blanket though!

Have a good one!

Christmas at the Bailey's

We waited to have our Christmas until Saturday December 27th for two reasons. Doyle worked Christmas Day and Kennedy wanted to wait to open gifts until Remi was here.

Keannon spent all day flying out to California to get Remi and returning on Friday December 26th. They got home really late. Even so the girls were awake by 8:30 the next day!

As Keannon and Vanessa are growing their family they are establishing their own Christmas traditions but one that has held in our family for years is the reading of the Christmas story from the Bible. In this case It's an electronic Bible but it's the Bible all the same!

Remi is very proud of her new little sister! Remi is looking so grown up. Her face is getting thinner and so is her frame.

Grammer and Korin

I was a bad girl...taking pictures while the story was being read...and the girls were not paying any attention :) I'm surprised I didn't get in trouble!

Korin could almost fit into her stocking!

Kashton gets a new bike!

Can you tell Kennedy was excited to get Dolphin Tale collection!

Kashton loves his daddy!

I just love this one! Maybe this will assure we will get more rain!

Doyle is thrilled to get his french fry cutter! He will be using that when it's grilling weather again!

Vanessa and I both were surprised with new SLR cameras! Guess that means I won't be the main picture taker anymore!

Kashton loves his horse books.

Opening presents wears a girl out!

Mom was excited to get a new printer!

No I didn't make these. Vanessa saw these last year at a craft booth in our local mall and mentioned she would like to have them. I became acquainted with a lady that makes them and had her make this for Vanessa. She was very pleased!

The kids "big" gift was a trampoline. Keannon put it together and wrapped the box. All three kids squealed with delight!

My Lil' Cowboy! Yee Haw!

Remi 6, Kennedy 5 and Korin 3 mos.

Even though it was only in the upper 30's the girls insisted on jumping on the trampoline...barefooted! They didn't last long!

I got Kashton a Cookie Monster cap and mittens. He liked them so much that he threw a fit when Vanessa tried to take them off!

I love this picture of Remi and Korin!

All that gift opening made us hungry so I cooked a big breakfast. Biscuits, bacon, scrambled eggs and gravy. Yum, Yum!

It was a great Christmas!

Have a good one!
