California Trip 10.31.23

We spent Halloween this year in Northern California! We traveled on Monday October 30th. It takes all day. It's only a 3 1/2 hour flight but it's an 1 1/2 to the airport on this end and 2 hour drive on the other.

We arrived at our final destination in Redding (Northern California) about 4:30 pm. By the time we arrived at our VRBO and settled in it was time for dinner.

We came out for a church conference. We have attended several times now. Our church is networked with Bethel Church in Redding, California. We are part of a group called Bethel Leaders Network. Pastors and leaders from all over the world.

The conference started Wednesday evening but the last several times we have gone we arrive a few days early to just relax and do a few fun things. Once the conference begins on Wednesday night, it is all day Thursday and Friday so there isn't opportunity to do anything else.

We took our friend Meagon again. I've been mentoring her. She is like another daughter to us.

On Tuesday we went to Turtle Bay a park with hiking biking trails along the Sacramento River. Doyle

learned about a non-profit group called "Friends of the Redding Eagles". There is a pair of eagles who nest in this park for the last several years. We connected with one of the members and they showed us were the nest was located and also a few places that the eagles frequent when in the area. We did not see the eagles that day. There are no eggs yet in the nest so they don't hang out there a lot. There is a live cam if you're interested. You can see it here. They also have a facebook page.

This is the nest.

Doyle and I walking with Terri Lhuillier one of the members of FORE (Friends of Redding Eagles). The nest is close to an extremely busy highway (the one we are walking next to).

The white thing is the Sun Dial Bridge.

This is a vulture that seemed to be sunbathing with his wings spread wide! I've never seen one do this!

Meagon took this photo.

Me and Meagon.

A bird I haven't seen before. I think it is a Northern Flicker.

It was a great first day.

Have a good one!
