Found Another New Riding Buddy

I met a lady that attends church with me that is a horse lover too. We have recently made some
connections a few times and last Friday, September 30th, I invited her to ride with me at the State Park.

I found out she had never been! I couldn't believe it! I was thrilled to show her the trails that I love so much.

Her name is Joelle. She's about 10 years younger than me. She brought two horses along thinking her husband might join us.

I had saddled before I arrived so I talked to her while she saddled hers.

I showed her the scenic point overlooking the lake. You can see the body of water just to the right of Joelle's head just above the tree line.

It was an almost perfect weather day.

Her horse's name is Cookie. He looks a little like Clyde to me.

She finally did catch up to me. I should have got her attention so she could be looking.

There were lots of these pretty yellow flowers.

Crossing the low water crossing. I don't see water across this often!

We saw a hawk, a large white Egret and an armadillo. No deer this time.

Not a good picture of me but it is of Joelle.

The other low water crossing. We took the trail slow for two reasons. One, her horse didn't have shoes and there are several places that are very rocky. The other was so she could get familiar with the trail. We had a couple of hours to share horse stories and family stories to get better acquainted.

We had a great time and said we would do it again.

Have a good one!

So Thankful for Cooler Days

It's finally cooler so I can ride more! I just don't deal with the heat like I use to.

Of course with cooler weather also means shorter days! The sun is setting around 7:15pm now. Time change is a month away.

I rode Fancy on Thursday, September 29th. I just rode around the pasture and the area behind the church.

We had a good ride.

Have a good one!

Wednesday Afternoon

Last Wednesday, September 28th, the kids wanted to go ride bikes.

Kashton does really well for still using training wheels. We rode almost 2 miles.

We rode by the little donkey and of course the kids wanted to stop.

After we got back home, Kennedy went to the neighbors to play. Kashton asked if he could go to church with me and did. After church Kashton helped me make pancakes for supper. I think he just likes to play in the flour!

Every time he sees my now he asks if I'm cooking cause he wants to help!

He's pretty proud  that he is helping me!

Have a good one!

Mondays

Monday evenings Keannon and Vanessa both have Bible Study and Kennedy has volleyball practice
so I take her to practice and pick her up.

I use the time she is at practice to go feed horses. Last Monday September 26th I had taken Kennedy to practice. I was getting back in my truck when something in the sky caught my eye. What I saw was lots and lots of large birds. My very first thought was they were Canadian Geese although they were flying low and not making any sound. That's odd I thought. I grabbed my
camera as quick as I could changing lenses to my zoom and started snapping pictures. It wasn't until I got home and put the pictures on the computer that I was able to see that the birds were not geese but pelicans!!

We have pelicans that winter here as well.

It was pretty cool to watch!

Leaving the gym where I left Kennedy, I hadn't driven very far when I saw this!

There were two!

Nice little pose before I leave.

Pretty clouds.

I thought this was cool. There was too much cloud cover for a colorful sunset but it looked like the clouds were streaks like sun rays to me.

Have a goo done!

Vanessa's Birthday

After Korin's big birthday bash, Vanessa's birthday celebration was much more subdued. Her birthday was Sunday September 25th. Sundays are pretty busy for all of us with church activities.  So after lunch, Kennedy helped me make a cake for her mom.

Vanessa turned 31. However that was too many candles for a cake. We just stuck some candles in the cake.

Sorry about the trash can! I didn't think fast enough to move it. We have to put it up or the dogs get into it.

It wasn't a big celebration but a celebration all the same!

Have a good one!

Korin's 2nd Birthday

Korin Faith Bailey turned 2 on September 26th. Since that was a Monday, Vanessa held her party on Saturday September 24th. The theme was "Two-tti-Fruity". A friend of hers did this theme for her daughter's 2nd birthday. Vanessa liked it and asked to use it which she was ok with. The cake is so cute and so is our birthday girl!

Mommy trying to get Korin to hold up two fingers.

She tried!

The food and gift table.

Table decorations were "fruity" balloons anchored by fresh pineapple and fruit snack packs.

And there was fresh fruit. Vanessa had planned to have watermelon too but it was too late in the season and they were all gone.

Daddy manned the grill while Granddad and Papa Joe supervised.

Mommy and the birthday girl with their "fruity" shirts on!

Going down the slide while waiting for the food to get ready.

Time for cake! It was a bit windy. Dad is trying to shield the candle as he's lighting it.

Having a bite of cake.

Korin and her favorite person "Kashy" as she calls him. And she is the only one who can call him that. Grammer called him that one day and he set her straight real quick that his names was Kashton!

Mommy and Daddy got her a battery operated car her size! She loved it! Now to get her to figure out how to keep from running into things!

Opening gifts. She loves babies and she got several. This is one of them. She is delighted!

Another baby!

Mommy reads her one of her cards.

She's even excited about clothes! What two year old does that?

All the kids close by to watch Korin open presents.

It was a great turnout and a great birthday!

Happy 2nd Birthday Korin!

Have a good one!
