Labor Day

I had the day off Labor Day. I hadn't been up long when I heard the pitter patter of foot steps on my back porch and a gentle knock on the screen door. This handsome devil came to see me. He dressed himself! You have to love his style! The boots are his sister's (Kennedy).

Because I didn't have to go to work that day I let he and Kennedy go with me to feed horses that morning. While waiting for the horses to finish the kids ate granola bars in the back of my truck.








Korin is quite mobile. Crawling everywhere. I had fun catching her peeking around the corner of some of my scrapbook totes.

I had put some snacks on top of a box.

Even with a messy face she is adorable. This picture was taken September 8th. You can see a video clip of her here from that same evening.

Enjoying My Blessings

On Sunday September 6th, I was being mindful of just how good God is to me. I was on my way to church and stop to feed which is my habit. The sky was so blue and the clouds so pretty.

I just love these guys! Clyde isn't in the picture because he was still in the barn.

Sunday evening when it came time to feed, Kennedy was playing at the neighbors so Kashton got to go with me by himself. He loves doing this more than Kennedy. He's 2 1/2 yrs old and he's carrying two buckets of feed!

The last time Kennedy came with us she showed Kashton how to scoop poop. Like his sister he wants to do it too! Another future pooper scooper in training!

A Little Bit of This and That

Thursday September 3rd was a great day at the store. I got to do what I do best and that's arrange and put up product. We moved existing product and moved in new, plus moved some displays. Cathy and I make a great team!

Later that night I got to get a peek at Kashton and Korin taking a bath.

On Friday September 4th I took Kennedy grocery shopping with me. As we get out of the truck she spies this cart and insists on using it! This thing was like driving an 18-wheeler! She of course thought it was awesome!

We found these huge bell peppers!

On Saturday I worked at the store and got this picture when I went to go feed horses.

First Day of School

Tuesday September 1st was first day for Kashton in "Mother's Day Out" at First Steps held at First Baptist Church. Kennedy went there a couple of years.

Vanessa still had her nap mat and asked me to make a new cover for Kashton. He is all about "Paw Patrol". Vanessa found some fabric and I made the mat cover, pillow cover and straps with handle to hold it all together.

Kashton tried it out. He was very pleased. Once I bundle it back together he carried it and he wouldn't let anyone else carry it!

Although he didn't take a nap, he did lay down and was quiet during "nap time" which is a pretty big deal!

Vanessa put Kashton in Mother's Day Out so that she could homeschool Kennedy.

Here is our first day of school picture!! First Day of Kinder! And as you see we aren't all fancied up, no backpack, and it's September 1st! Why you ask?? Because we have decided to homeschool! And on our first day of school we finished in an hour, had a lunch date, now pedicures and off to gymnastics in a bit. We are trying out new waters and seeing how the Lord guides us. Some things are meant to last for years others for a season. So to answer the burning question, we have no idea how long the season of homeschool will last us. We will see where we go!

While Mommy and Kennedy went to gymnastics, Kashton stayed home with me. He asked me for some milk.

That evening Keannon and Doyle cooked on the grill. We had steak, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. Kashton calls it "oncorn". Cracks me up. This is how he eats "oncorn."


Never a dull moment around here :)

The Kids Missed Me

Imagine that! Kennedy  missed me the most while I was gone. I told you in the last post that Kennedy had fallen asleep before I got home. The next morning she and Kashton came over to see me before I left for work! They were so cute! Vanessa and Keannon had some finishing up to do at their other house to be completely out so I kept the kids for a while.

Vanessa had bought Kennedy a doll with clothes you could add glitter to so Kennedy asked me to help her with it.

Korin has the army crawl down! She likes to play ball with Kaidence. You can see a clip here.

Kennedy had cheer practice so that left me with the two little ones

Going Home Day

Time at the retreat seem to pass way too quickly! It was going home day. We had to take some group pictures. The lady who leads our group made each one of us an apron with our names on it the first year she took over which was the last year we were here. That year's retreat was themed "Women of Influence". This year's theme was "Locks, Gates and Walls". This was the title from my blog post July 31st. The leader of the group had asked me to share this at our devotional on Sunday morning.

Teresa and I needed to buy fuel before we headed home so we drove into Canton. While there we decided to go ahead and eat. I'm so glad we did! It was amazing! Beef and shrimp fajitas with all the trimmings.

On the way home we got to watch a gorgeous sunset. The sun was a beautiful "pink" hue. I wanted a picture but where we were on the road there weren't any good places to pull over for a photo op! We did find a place to capture part of it before all the color went away.







I had told Kennedy when I left on Thursday,  I would be home Sunday. She woke up on Sunday morning and told her mom "guess who is coming who today?" Keannon was coming home Sunday night as well so Vanessa said "Daddy?!" She said "NO! Savtah!" Made me laugh! Unfortunately we didn't get home before Kennedy went to sleep. The next morning bright and early she and Kashton were walking through my back door to see me! Yep....put a big ole' smile on my face!

I didn't explore as much on this retreat nor sleep much but I did complete 38 pages and that I am very happy about!

Day 3 of the Retreat

We had 2 more retreaters join us on Friday evening. They were mother/daughter. The mother
scrapbooked and the daughter made cards. Now Teresa and I had met the mother. She had nicknamed us Paula Dean (me) and Martha Stewart (Teresa) of scrapbooking. I know...it makes us laugh every time we talk about it. We lived up to our name (according to this duo) during this retreat when we showed some of our tools and what you could do with them. I had brought my sizzix Big Shot die cutting machine along with some dies and embossing folders. I had shown the daughter how to use the embossing folders with paper for cards then Teresa took it to another level and showed how you could cute aluminum with the dies and then emboss. The look on this girl's face was priceless. "Say what?!"

It was just too fun to watch the wheels turning as she watched in awe! We opened a whole new world for her in cardmaking that day!

She wasn't the only one getting lessons! Her mom is behind her. The woman in blue is our Retreat leader.












Later that day we took a road trip out to the middle of no where to a small craft store called Country Scents. I'm talking "boonies"! In fact, everyone is instructed to call first before they come!

On the way back to the retreat I spied these strangely marked horses! I thought I was seeing things! This one was curious enough to check me out! I was hoping to get a picture of him with the numerous black and white paints in the pasture but the brush was very heavy along the fence line and this was the only clear spot I could find. So this guy was the only one who got his picture made!

It was a day full of fun!
