Christmas Eve

Vanessa and I decided that I would fix a big breakfast Christmas Eve morning instead of Christmas morning. We would eat lighter Christmas morning then eat our traditional "Mexican" for lunch Christmas Day.

While I am making breakfast I notice that Korin and Granddad are color coordinated. Korin is wearing the pajama top I bought for Kennedy when she was a year old. Granddad has one of the Christmas cookies the girls made in his hand.

Kennedy is on the left. She was a year old. Korin is 15 months.

Korin was tired of waiting for breakfast to be ready and tried to climb in her chair so she could eat. Grammer helped her and I gave her a biscuit to pacify her until the rest of breakfast was ready. She's a happy girl now!

I put on quite a feast. We had sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy. The pancakes and biscuits were made from scratch!

Korin got hot in that flannel pajama top so Vanessa took it off. She's snuggling with Grammer.

Happy girl....most of the time.

The kids love my Santa hat.

Then we let the kids open their Christmas Eve gift. Several years ago Vanessa suggested a new family Christmas tradition of buying pajamas and giving them to her on Christmas Eve. She would wear them on Christmas morning. Now I just buy them for the grands.

Kashton can hardly wait to see what's inside.

Korin getting a little help from Mommy.

Kashton was so excited to get horsey pajamas that he wanted to put them on right then!

I didn't get a picture of Korin with her pajamas but you can see them in the background of this picture just behind Kennedy. They are the same print as Remi's pajamas.

The kids went to Vanessa's step-mom's family for Christmas Eve so Doyle and I had the rest of the day to ourselves. I called in our order of Mexican food and picked it up on my way to feed horses. As I was leaving the restaurant what I saw took my breath away. I caught a glimpse of the moon! So big and beautiful!

The moon got brighter the higher it rose in the sky. By the time I took this one through the trees it was really bright. The full moon actually took place on Christmas Day but we had clouds and I couldn't see it so this was as close as I got.

Have a good one!

  1. Great idea to spread out the Christmas cheer by having the big breakfast Christmas Eve. I used to get the kids pj's for Christmas eve. It was fun. We eat a brunch on Christmas day here at home and then have a big meal around 4 or 5. This year we went to Eddie's brother's house in Burleson. Looks like you had a great Christmas Eve!
