Porch Sittin'

It was a very pretty day Wednesday.  I had met David, the previous owner of Patches, after work to pick her up. I had thought I might stay and ride Diamond or work with Dixie to load in the trailer but by the time David left I was hungry and not really feeling it.

After lunch I was sitting at my desk on the computer when I kept seeing things fly by the storm dorm. I got up to take a look and saw several birds at the feeder and a big butterfly fluttering around my flowers. I quickly grabbed my camera and put the zoom on and began to snap pictures.

This is a "House Finch" as my dear Auntie Kay told me.

This is the butterfly I saw fluttering around. He was quite fast and it took several attempts to get him with his wings open.

This was a very large butterfly and quite a beauty!

I saw the White-lined Sphinx Moth again in my flowers. These odd fellows are very intriguing to me! Their "nickname" is "the hummingbird moth" and I can see why! They fly very similar to the hummingbird!

Then I spied this beauty. It and the moth were eating from flowers in the same area. This one was hard to catch with its wings open too! Very flighty as well!

This was about as good as it got for me!

I like how this picture turned out.

It looks evil from this angle!

I definitely enjoyed the afternoon snapping away!

Woody woodpeck came back and gave me a good laugh hanging upside down to eat the seeds. At first I thought he might have his foot hung but when I got closer he flew away. Guess he was just enjoying "hanging around"!

Have a good one!
