Last Saturday April 1st I participated in a city wide outreach to a select part of town. For the last several years Churches across the city have come together to host outreaches for one month leading up to Easter.
The first Saturday we pray walk the area.
The 2nd Saturday we take a bag filled with small gifts and some literature and hang on doors. We only engage with people if they engage with us.
The 3rd Saturday we pick up trash in the neighborhood.
The 4th and final Saturday is an Easter Celebration with all sorts of games for the kids along with an egg hunt.
I didn't attend the prayer walk as that was the weekend Doyle and I went on the trail ride.
Here are some of the groups heading out to blanket this area of town.
We had great weather and a great turn out! Me and my partner (Sally from my church) on the first apartment unit we came to the door was standing wide open! The lady tried to get us to come in and have breakfast. We told her why we were there and asked if we could pray for her. She started hollering at her boys to get up! I told her she didn't need to do that but we would pray for her then we needed to be on our way. We prayed and she was visible touched. We walked away on cloud 9!
Next event we will pickup trash and do some cleanup in the neighborhood. I look forward to having some encounters that day too!
Have a good one!
