Introducing Kennedy to Heritage Park

October 25, 2016
Heritage Park (formerly known as Lion's Park) was property owned by the city that had basically been abandoned when Texas Frontier Trails leased it to do amphitheaters telling the story of the Goodnight-Loving cattle drives and history of the county. My Pastor, friend (and boss) is a member and serves on the board of Texas Frontier Trails. He came up with an idea of creating a hiking trail inside the park to create interest and exposure. It has been a great hit.

I was there for the grand opening in April. You can see my blog about that here. Kennedy had never been so one afternoon I took her out there.

At the trailhead. You can see the map behind Kennedy.

Kennedy is so smart! She said I should take a picture of the map so we wouldn't get lost. What she didn't know is that I was already familiar with the trail :) Not to mentioned it was marked well.

There are some hand made benches along the way if you want to bird watch or just take in the peace and quiet.

This is my favorite part of the trail....the rock stairway.

I loved the light coming through the trees and a hint of color as some of the trees leaves are beginning to change .

Kennedy saw these flowers and wanted to get a picture. I love the mix of purple and yellow.

We had a great time!

Have a good one.
