Jam Session

The kids had a musical "jam" session. Kennedy is not really playing. The keyboard has a set pre-recorded song but it sounds like she is! Have a good one!

Still Beauty Amidst the Heat

As I mentioned in the last post the heat has arrived and is oppressive. These pictures were taken June 18th.

The mornings are the coolest but even though the temp is in the upper 70's the humidity is higher then!

Regardless of the weather my 4 legged babies need to eat. I have been going much later in the evening because it's so hot!

These yellow beauties are in several places along the fence line.

These I pass on the road on the way to and from feeding. They are just so pretty! And the bright yellow color just makes me smile :)

Driving along the pasture fence I saw this scissor-tail.

A beautiful moon. Although it appears full it's not. It was full a couple of days later.

Spied this dragonfly on the door to the feed room.

Fancy getting a big drink of water. If you look closely you can see sweat lines on her face.

She cracks me up how she lets water dribble from her mouth.

Have a good one!

Gift for Doyle

I actually meant to include this with the Father's Day cards as it was a gift that I gave Doyle for Father's Day.

Funny thing...I had the idea for this project MONTHS ago.  I had a picture in my mind how I thought it would look. I had penciled it out but it got shuffled out of sight and I had forgot about it. As Father's Day approached, I decided I would try to finish it.

I used colored pencils to color in the writing. The paper I used was art paper and it is 9 x 12. An odd size for a frame. I could get an 8x10 or a 11 x 14 frame so I improvised using scrapbook paper to mat with.

I think Doyle was pleased.

Have a good one!

Cards for Father's Day

I have done some crafting. Summer has arrived and so has the heat. Last week our temps were only in the low to mid 90's but the humidity was so high that our heat index was in the triple digits! It was extremely uncomfortable outdoors. Makes for perfect crafting weather!

This is a Father'd Day card I made for my dad.

I made this one for Keannon. I colored the image with my Copic markers then cut it out and put foam tape behind it to give it dimension.

This card I made for my husband Doyle. He is an avid coffee drinker. I created the sentiment using my Just Rite Alpha stamps. The coffee cup is a stamp set from Unity. I colored the image with my Copic Markers. I used glossy accents to enhance the steam off the coffee. I cut out the image then added foam tape for dimension.

Have a good one!

Kashton vs Weeds

May 15, 2016
I found this rather humerous of Kashton kicking weeds.

Look Who's Here!

Remi arrived for her 1st set of 3 weeks summer vacation June 10th. She has literally hit the ground running. Vanessa has had the kids involved in lots of activities. The girls spent the night with me on Tuesday June 14th and I took them to work with me. Kennedy had a private dance lesson at 9am so Remi and I had a little time alone together. (I seemed to have digressed in my selfie taking ability!)

This was taken the next day.

The kids are in Vacation Bible School this week.

Remi has asked about riding so we are trying to figure out when to do that as it's hot now. Mornings or late evenings are the best time.

Remi goes home June 30th then she comes back in two weeks.

Hoping they will get to sleep over one more night before she goes home.

Have a good one!

Happy Birthday

To me! Well it was June 8th! Sorry....been a lot going on!

This is me at age 4. I posted this picture on Facebook and several people said it looked like Kennedy! This is Kennedy at age 4. What do you guys think?

Of course my morning started with these silly guys! Fancy is only interested in a carrot!

I had lots of Facebook birthday wishes and had 3 people come by the office to bring me cards and gifts.

When I got to the office I spotted a bird nest in a tree. It was just high enough I couldn't see so I
backed my truck into the parking space to get higher. I still wasn't high enough standing on the tailgate so I got on top of the cab. A friend of mine who works next door caught me! Unfortunately I still couldn't get a good view of the nest :( You can't say I didn't try!

My first surprise came within minutes after arriving at the office. The same lady that took the above photo brought me a card. I didn't open it until after she left and discovered she had put money inside! I promptly went next door to thank her properly!
Mom gave me gave me money in a card and Dad sent me money in a birthday card too.

The book that says "Restore my Soul" is an adult coloring book given to me by my dear friend Julianne. It isn't just a coloring book but also a devotional. I was so excited!  She had the card strategically placed on this page. It was perfect!
Vanessa and kids gave me the rubber boots. My others had sprung a leak in both boots I discovered when we were getting all the rain.! I was very pleased! The green card is from the Grandkids.

My most treasured gift came from my friend Cathy from the Scrapbook Store. She closed the store the end of December but still offers crops, retreats and classes. She gave me these collectible horse coffee mugs that belonged to her mother. Her mother died several years ago and she loved horses like me. I was blessed!

Each cup has a different horse design and a horse head on the inside. They are way cool! They are so special that I will probably just put them on a shelf to display as I won't want to risk breaking them!

The family took me out for lunch. Mom, Doyle, Vanessa, and kids were there. Keannon was out of town on the job. Mom tried to get a picture of me with the kids. This was one of the better ones.

I took a selfie but I didn't get Kashton in the picture.

It was a good day.  Happy Birthday to me!

Have a good one!

Friday, June 3rd

This rain has been something else! I'm not complaining but I am sure ready to share some of the wealth (if you know what I mean :)

The pasture has standing water in it and toad stools are growing.

I was intrigued by the droplets on the grass. It's already time to mow again and I just mowed last week!

It quit raining long enough for me to ride my bike. These toadstools or mushrooms (whichever) were growing in the grass at the cemetery.

The water is flowing freely in the creek.

I get back from my bike ride and notice that the flower seeds I planted are beginning to bloom!

And with all this rain comes....yep mosquitoes!

I swatted this one before he bit me!

Later in the afternoon, Mom text me to say Destiny was coming to her house to get the key to the storage unit Wayne has if I wanted to come say hi. Michael came with her. I sure like this guy! They found an apartment and have it rented. Destiny needed to get a table out of storage to use. Destiny told us she takes her State Test for Nursing June 15th. When she gets that done she will start work at John Peter Smith Hospital in July.

Keannon and the kids stopped by to visit too! Vanessa was gone to a retreat.

We had a good visit.

Have a good one!

A Toady Kind of Day

We have had rain for several days. Not stormy, more tropical like. I have seen a couple of posts on Facebook from some friends that have compared our weather of late to that of Oregon/Washington.

Anyway, Thursday June 2nd was that kind of day. I was sitting at the computer when I looked out the storm door and saw four toads on our sidewalk. You can't even walk across the yard without toads jumping out of your way!

I started watching them and I saw one of them stick out its tongue like they were eating something. With it raining, I didn't think there were any bugs "flying" so I went to investigate further.

Do you see the worm in front of this toad?

The rain had worms swimming everywhere. Hard not to when there was standing water everywhere!

They are eating worms!

Slurping it up like spaghetti!

You may have to click on this picture to see it but he closes his eyes as the last of the worm gets in his mouth as if to say hmmmm....good!

Got another worm!

Caught him with his mouth open!

This toad is by a tree in our front yard. See how deep the water is standing!

It was quite entertaining for me! Now the rain has gone and the the sun is out. The toads are hiding among my flowers were the ground is moist and cool.

Have a good one!

Clean Bill of Health and Miss Scarlett

I took Mom to her Infectious Disease Doctor for followup regarding her infection Wednesday June 1st. She was given a "Clean Bill of Health"! Woohoo! Dr Haron answered all Mom's questions (even those she had about her foot) and thoroughly explained much. Mom was very pleased!

When we were through we had lunch at a near by Italian Food Restaurant. We ordered a Veggie pizza. Boy was it good!

Mom had asked me a few days before the appointment if we could go by and see her new great-grand baby. I said "sure". I wanted to see her too! Mom made all the arrangements with Taylor and Whitney.

We finished lunch and headed to their house to meet Miss Scarlett.

She is a cutie although this isn't the best picture of her!

Scarlett Mae is 1 day shy of being 2 weeks old the day we were there. She is a wiggly little thing!

I got a chance to hold her too!

Whitney said they had a rough night and didn't get much sleep. Thankfully they got a nap before we arrived so Miss Scarlett was wide awake!

Taylor was at work so we didn't get to see him.

This makes great grand child number 5.

Have a good one!
