Double Nickel

I celebrated birthday number 55 Monday June 8th. Oh, my! How did I get here?! The older I get I have a greater appreciation and understanding of some of the things I remember my Grandmother saying. One that comes to mind the most is "the days are just flying off the calendar!". She lived to be just 3 months shy of 92 and was still living on her own.  She passed peacefully sitting in her chair with her Bible in her lap. I hope that I am able to do the same.

Anyway, on to my birth day! Kennedy asked to spend the night on Sunday. Given a choice she would spend every night with me I think! She had also spent Saturday night with me. How can I say "no"?! She was the first to sing or tell me "happy birthday". Nothing any sweeter than your grandchild doing that!

I tried not to have too much expectation of what might happen on "my day". I knew for sure I wanted to do two things. Ride horses and eat watermelon. It was pretty warm that day. Vanessa explained to Kennedy if she stayed with me on my birthday she needed to let me do what I wanted.

When I asked her what she wanted for breakfast she said. "It's your birthday." I said yes but you still get to decide what you want to eat." I thought that was so cute!

We went to catch horses and they put on a show for us running around all 3 acres then ran into a small pen that I shut the gate on. Ha! Ha! Gotcha ya!

Once again we rode at my friend's place as the park trails are still closed. I guess they sustained quite a bit of damage with the massive water that flowed through.

Taking a break.

Kennedy threw some rocks in the water during our break.

The scenery was so pretty. Beautiful green with lots of yellow flowers and beautiful blue sky with fun fluffy clouds.

After our break I ask Kennedy if she was ready to go back to the trailer or ride some more. She sat there for a few seconds then said "What do you want to do?" I had to laugh. So sweet of her to be willing to ride longer just for me! I told her we could be done if she wanted to go home. We came to a compromise and rode just a bit longer.

Kennedy was playing a game on my phone but guess she decided to take a selfie!

While we were riding a got a text from a friend who wanted to bring something to the house for my birthday. So when I got home I found these beautiful flowers waiting for me

Kennedy wanted to pose with my flowers. She looks much better with them than I do!

I received a wonderful card from my friend. It played "happy birthday". Kennedy wanted to dance for me using the music from the card.
Then it was on to my birthday dinner at one of my favorite eateries Pulido's. Vanessa told them it was my birthday so they brought me this wonderful sombrero. The kids wanted to take their turns wearing it.

After dinner I thought I would take the dogs for a walk. I saw this little bit of color as the daylight faded.

And no birthday is complete without my "dessert"!

My friend who gave me the fresh cut flowers also brought me a bowl of watermelon too! I love my friends.

I also received numerous wonderful birthday greetings on Facebook, through text messages, phone calls and emails. It was overall a really good day!

Have a good one!
