Blooming Weeds and Other Wild Flowers

For being in drought conditions I have been amazed that we've had any wildflowers at all but all of you know that even when it doesn't rain the weeds will grow! The nice thing is that a lot of our weeds at least have pretty blooms!

Isn't this pretty?! Too bad you can't see what's behind this picture! I had taken Dixie to the trainer and was coming back home. So what you don't see is my truck with a 20ft gooseneck trailer on behind on this tiny road. Yep, I stopped right in the middle, got out of my truck and started snapping. No fear. It was a pretty desolate road. Never met a soul!

See the red flowers? Those are what is called "Fire Wheels" or "Indian Blankets"

This picture didn't turn out the way I was seeing it with my eyes. It was very striking.

This dainty flower is on a type of thistle plant.

Very beautiful drive.

I believe these are called "Mexican Hats". I took these pictures on another day much closer to home.

I believe these are Coreopsis.

One being "outstanding"!

I have no idea what this is but it's some weed growing in the pasture.

Here is a field of those purple things!

Just goes to show they will grow just about anywhere!

Have a good one!

  1. Weeds endure and make beautiful flowers! Love the blue sky in the first photo.
