Spring at the State Park

Last Friday Diamond and I went to the State Park. It was a beautiful day. In our previous trips to the park Diamond trots a lot on the trail but this day he seemed content to walk the 8 mile loop. I didn't mind. I see more when I take it slower.

I plan to ride Diamond in part of the trail ride that kicks off Rodeo next week in Mineral Wells. The trail ride begins at the rodeo grounds in Weatherford. The riders stop for lunch at Millsap which is just about half way. I plan to ride from Millsap to Mineral Wells. That leg of the trip is about as long as the trail at the State Park. I plan to ride him in the parade later that afternoon and hopefully the grand entry at the rodeo that night.

Despite our lack of rain everything was green and very pretty. I was hoping to see more wildflowers but there were not many out.
I couldn't resist letting Diamond have a "grass break". Especially
since there isn't much in his pasture.

We continue riding the trail when I picked up a hitchhiker!

Cute little fella! He seemed totally comfortable riding along!

The park did some controlled burning to help with the eco system.

My favorite part of the trail that runs along a creek that is now dry.

Isn't this just beautiful?

One of the largest trees along the trail. Love this spot.

We did see a deer. That was the only wildlife I saw this trip. We did happen upon this beautiful blooming cactus!

Have a good one!
