Day 3 of Ice Storm 2013

Saturday after the Ice Storm that began Thursday night, the roads weren't any better and in some cases were worse.

I forgot to mention that I called Vanessa to talk to Kennedy on Friday. Where they live now is on a hill and it's difficult to go up or down a hill with ice!

This was our conversation:
Kennedy: Savtah, I want to come to your house.
Me: The roads are too bad.
Kennedy: Are they too slippy?
Me: Yes they are too slippy. I can't get up the hill.
Kennedy: You could park your truck at the bottom and walk up to get me.
She is too smart for her own good!

The nice thing about weather like this is I can spend some time in my craft room.

This card is very simple but I LOVE how it turned out. I used an embossing folder from Stampin Up of poinsettias. The sentiment is the stamp set "Christmas Blessings" from Stampin Up.

This one is too plain for me I really needed a scalloped oval but I didn't have one. The image is from Stampin Up's "First Christmas" stamp set. I did not use the sentiments in that set but chose instead to use a sentiment from a Phyllis Harris design stamp set by Unity Stamp Company called "Unto Us". I then added some bling to the star.

I tried making this card again with a little different approach. I like this one MUCH better even though the image didn't stamp well. I think part of that was the type of paper I was using (white metallic cardstock) and the other was an ink pad that needed re-inking. I'm still happy with it though.

Have a good one!

  1. Beautiful cards! I have not made any Christmas cards to send out this year. I have a box of bought cards, I may or may not get a few out. I did help Eddie send out 150 cards for his business though. Ha, ha.

    1. Thank you Sandy! I've been really slow to get my cards out. Only sent out about 20 and that was mostly to family.
